@@BritPopsReact No, they’re not covering up ANYTHING, you aren’t comprehending anything. I am SO goddamn happy I was born in America because I grew up with the blues. 🤘🏾❤️
Just FYI it was the 1982 performance that they did at the Montreux Switzerland jazz festival where they were booed. They were the first unsigned band ever to play the festival and they were booked on a night that was supposed to be acoustic music. Of course, they came out highly amplified, and there were some purist, in the audience who did boo them rather loudly. It can be heard when you listen to the concert. However, there were many in the audience who did clap and cheer, and even stand up and dance. It was at this concert that David Bowie first saw Stevie Ray and also this is when they met Jackson Browne who was instrumental in helping them get Texas Flood, their first album recorded. After spending a night jamming with them he offered them free studio time at his personal studio to record. Great guy Jackson Browne. As a thank you, they sent Jackson Browne a two year old horse. What a Texas thing to do!
#BPR Stevie Ray Vaughn created, now know as Texas Blues. SRV "a flame that burns twice as bright, half as long" ,made more of an impact than if he had lasted 100 years, even though he died so young!
Blues is a totally underrated music genre ... there are so many legends out there! And almost everything we hear today is based or influenced by the blues musician from the very earls years of the blues (20/30/40) ... It's always worth to check out some (old) blues - you can't go wrong with it! :)
Reese Wynans played when Duane Allman and Dickie Betts formed the Allman Brothers Band. Duane eased him out in favor of his little brother Gregg. Gregg died in 2017, and Reese played at their 50th Anniversary show. He is in Double Trouble here, officially part of the band, as he was for Stevie’s last five years. P.S. All the bells and whistles? “Little Wing” at El Mocambo, “Voodoo Chile” at Nashville, or “Couldn’t Stand The Weather”. Or “Testify”, live, of course
This is probably my favourite SRV track. Now, seriously, for a very different iteration of the man, i’d urge you to chase up Third Stone From the Sun at El Mocambo. Doesn’t get much attention and won’t be a popular suggestion but you’ll see a very different side to him.
#britPopReacts Robert Johnson is a great react for the TRUE ORIGINAL GRANDFATHER OF THE BLUES from 1936. Any song is phenomenal, but "Hellhounds on my trail" " "Sweet home Chicago" "They're red hot" "Dust my broom", but "Crossroads Blues" which was popularized by the band 'Cream' & 'Eric Clapton' popularized later in the the '70s as the "fabled" song of "selling your soul to the devil in exchange to play music" which actually dates as far back as Faust the German musician "circa 1480" that sold his soul to the devil at the "Crossroads". The Robert Johnson tale actually coincidence with this old time gable, or "tale" because of the many first hand accounts he actually disappeared for a very short time (a few months) and then returned with talent of a phenomenal Musical savant and recorded His landmark recordings in 1936 & displayed a combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that has influenced many later generations of musicians & genres. Although his recording career spanned only seven months, he is now recognized as a master of the blues, particularly the Delta blues style, and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as being "the first ever ROCK STAR" I truly hope yall react to some of his music that inspired a generation of music, artists, & genres that touched not only the blues, but rock & Roll, & so much more. And please look into his biography from en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Johnson As always I thank you guys & much love from 🇺🇸-🇬🇧 Just because we separated back in the 1700s doesn't mean we can't reunite in the 2000s ! ❤ 🤍 💙
Great stuff guys! Good to see Johnny again. He was a Great player as well. SRV always sounds good. He does a great cover of Stevie Wonder's song "Superstition" th-cam.com/video/37-yFGJngPs/w-d-xo.html
Great call @phantomrockerr. Well worth reacting to SRV's version. Interestingly, Stevie Wonder 'gave' Superstition to another great guitarist, Jeff Beck. So it seems natural SRV would cover it too. Best Wishes. ☮ *Jeff Beck's connection:* Stevie Wonder played almost all instruments on many of his albums, though he had other guitarists on his albums too. Jeff Beck admired Stevie Wonder. They made an agreement, and then collaborated on Talking Book. Beck came up with a drum beat, and Wonder told him to keep going while he improvised around it. Beck's drumming become the opening beat. As part of the sessions' agreement, Wonder had agreed to write a song for Jeff Beck, Superstition was that song. However, when Wonder's label heard Stevie's version, they released his version on Talking Book anyway. _Beck, Bogart & Appice - Superstition -1973_ th-cam.com/video/wwIJk0C0xY0/w-d-xo.html (4m:26s) Appice was the drummer, and Bogart the bassist in Brit Pops' _Vanilla Fudge - Keep Me Hangin On_ reaction.
No, not c chord, if you’re watching it from the beginning, you can see him telling Johnny Copeland it’s in B, don’t look at my hands because it’ll look like C, it’s B, and then you can see him glance over at Johnny. I know wtf I’m talking about.
I love these reactions while you’re listening, then ya give such low scores!! If this wasn’t a 10, I’d like to see what is!❤ Anyway, I’d love to see your reaction to Stevie’s “Mary Had a Little Lamb “ from Austin, 1989. Amazing, and you get a chance to see keyboardist Reece Wynans do his thang. Stevie does a whole different voice, as well. th-cam.com/video/WWU6hpPJG_c/w-d-xo.html
@Michael Gilbert HI Michael and thanks for the comment, as we say the scores are for a bit of fun and an "on the spot" sort of gut reaction as to how we felt about the song, not the performance or the skill, would we want to listen to it again right away, would be a very high score, if we are blown away by something very different or it's just great from start to finish then it's a 10/10 but really there is no science behind it, just us two fools trying to come up with something on the spot and it also hopefully gets you guys interested and to call us out when we get it wrong. As we say just for fun and no offence intended. Thanks for checking out the channel and we will note your link down for a future reaction. All the best
With Stevie Ray Vaughan, a 5-minute song is just too short. The Capital Theater concert that is widely available on TH-cam is one of the better choices for seeing Stevie at his best. The Austin City Limits show is another. Many have requested "Life Without You" and I would agree since this song had a special meaning to Stevie. It is also long enough to really appreciate the talent the man had. I love "Ain't Gone 'n Give Up On Love." The Blues influence is evident, and Stevie's unique talent is displayed in a relatively short time span. When you get a chance, watch the show with Stevie and Albert King called "Blues At Sunrise." It's long. But we'll worth the watch to get a real enjoyable taste of real Blues is like. The exchanges between these two friends is so enjoyable that the time still seems to short.
#britPopReacts "life without You" is a must See LIVE in the Capitol theater. Yall will love it. Many special "bag of tricks" & a heart felt message of unity speech that he gives mid performance. Try listening to SRV's song, LIFE WITHOUT YOU. Toned down guitar playing and he sings quite a bit. Typical SRV video, - Guitar switch, plays behind his back, loses a tooth playing with his teeth. For crazy guitar SRV video, check out his Third Stone From The Sun. You must watch the video. What you see and what you hear is astonishing. He abuses his guitar so bad I think he was doing a Pete Townshend impersonation at the end of a Who concert.

I'm sure someone already mentioned this, but at the part where you say they're just jamming, Johnny Copeland had forgotten the lyrics and was filling in with the guitar solo. So Stevie came up and finished the song, and then they had a good laugh about it! I enjoyed the review, but your breaks interrupted the flow of the song and the dark feeling it creates about life in Tin Pan Alley.
No disrespect intended but generally you watch a reaction video for a reaction. If you want to watch the video uninterrupted, you certainly can do so it’s on TH-cam.
When SRV performed, 13 minutes was WAY too short! Stevie sang from an outsider looking into Tin Pan Alley. Johnny Copeland sang from an insider perspective.

I loved the ‘Ha!’ from Stevie when Johnny goes up to the microphone then decides not to sing🤭🤘🏾Such a masterpiece of genius.
@@BritPopsReact No, they’re not covering up ANYTHING, you aren’t comprehending anything. I am SO goddamn happy I was born in America because I grew up with the blues. 🤘🏾❤️
Nice to chill out to this kind of music.
@Lord Lockdowns Jukebox
If that doesn't stop BP1 moaning about long songs,. nothing will.
Hope your doing well mate
They are So good together ♡♡♡♡♡
Texas Blues !!!
Awesome reaction y'all! So glad to see the SRV reactions - big thanks!!! 😊❤
@Jennifer John
You are very welcome Jennifer
They loved each other.
Blues is a totally underrated music genre ... there are so many legends out there! And almost everything we hear today is based or influenced by the blues musician from the very earls years of the blues (20/30/40) ... It's always worth to check out some (old) blues - you can't go wrong with it! :)
SRV matched- up with a lot of fantastic musicians 😊
Stevie had to recover from that stevie stopped breathin'.
Lol now you have to check out his sound check♡♡♡♡♡
Thats called Texas Blues. It's all feelin'. Reese was part of the band.
The GOAT
Man, I need to find some blues jams with Johnny.
Thats the Texas Blues ya'll. It is a Artic Fox Tail.
The concert that he got booed was in 82 play from capital theater life without you and couldn't stand the weather and ain't gone n give up on love
@Joe Whipple
Cheers Joe, thanks for the information.
Check out Stevie Ray's sound Check video.
During an interview (maybe it was with Arsinio Hall), Stevie was asked where his style comes from. "Truckstops, mostly." XD The absolute best.
If you like jazz, listen to his song called "Stang's Swing or Swang" you will not regret it.
I laughed when I heard "where can he go from here". I think it's called a hummingbird technique.
Now " life without you " capitol theater NJ 1985 notice the guitar swap early in the video and his broken tooth
Life without you capital theater is his best song in my opinion
Damn, damn, damn, this may be the best thing I have ever heard !!
@double00spy
Ohh, the new one coming out tonight is pretty damn good too.
This is probably my favourite SRV track. Now, seriously, for a very different iteration of the man, i’d urge you to chase up Third Stone From the Sun at El Mocambo. Doesn’t get much attention and won’t be a popular suggestion but you’ll see a very different side to him.
My Favorite ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as being "the first ever ROCK STAR"
I truly hope yall react to some of his music that inspired a generation of music, artists, & genres that touched not only the blues, but rock & Roll, & so much more. And please look into his biography from en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Johnson
As always I thank you guys & much love from 🇺🇸-🇬🇧
Just because we separated back in the 1700s doesn't mean we can't reunite in the 2000s !
❤ 🤍 💙
GOAT.
Ya'll crazy.
Great stuff guys! Good to see Johnny again. He was a Great player as well. SRV always sounds good. He does a great cover of Stevie Wonder's song "Superstition" th-cam.com/video/37-yFGJngPs/w-d-xo.html
@phantomrockerr
Cheers mate, we had no idea he did that song, we will add it to the list.
All the best
Great call @phantomrockerr. Well worth reacting to SRV's version.
Interestingly, Stevie Wonder 'gave' Superstition to another great guitarist, Jeff Beck. So it seems natural SRV would cover it too.
Best Wishes. ☮
*Jeff Beck's connection:*
Stevie Wonder played almost all instruments on many of his albums, though he had other guitarists on his albums too.
_Beck, Bogart & Appice - Superstition -1973_ th-cam.com/video/wwIJk0C0xY0/w-d-xo.html (4m:26s)
Appice was the drummer, and Bogart the bassist in Brit Pops' _Vanilla Fudge - Keep Me Hangin On_ reaction.
No, not c chord, if you’re watching it from the beginning, you can see him telling Johnny Copeland it’s in B, don’t look at my hands because it’ll look like C, it’s B, and then you can see him glance over at Johnny. I know wtf I’m talking about.
@Subversively Surreal
Very funny, cheers for the comment 😄
Jimmy that is Stevie's Brother, he also plays the guitar.. ♠W.G.
@Michael Gilbert
HI Michael and thanks for the comment, as we say the scores are for a bit of fun and an "on the spot" sort of gut reaction as to how we felt about the song, not the performance or the skill, would we want to listen to it again right away, would be a very high score, if we are blown away by something very different or it's just great from start to finish then it's a 10/10 but really there is no science behind it, just us two fools trying to come up with something on the spot and it also hopefully gets you guys interested and to call us out when we get it wrong.
As we say just for fun and no offence intended.
Thanks for checking out the channel and we will note your link down for a future reaction.
All the best
@@BritPopsReact Thanks! I get it. You two are terrific!
I heard Tommy the base player say that wasn’t a costume, Stevie would be walking around the mall at 10 in the morning dressed like that!
Life Without You live at the Capitol Theater has it all
With Stevie Ray Vaughan, a 5-minute song is just too short.
Sounded like the audience liked it to me ..
Has to be Little Wing live from Austin City Limits
#britPopReacts "life without You" is a must See LIVE in the Capitol theater. Yall will love it. Many special "bag of tricks" & a heart felt message of unity speech that he gives mid performance. Please react to it, I promise you will not regret it, and be ever so thankful that you did. Btw, I've been a subscriber for over a year & every SRV react yall have done touches me, since I've been a life long fan of SRV since the 80's.
The reason why they were laughing at Jonny as he forgot the words and just played
If you don'r get it, now, you never will.
Great song, Great performances and video. SRV is not just shredding. Each note delivers. 👍👍 Great reaction. I'm pleased BP1 coped. 👏 Good facts. I'm not familiar with Johnny Copeland, who was great too.
Best Wishes. ☮
Maybe find a slot for singer and guitarists Bonnie Raitt on your list of American musicians?
She's usually ranked in the top 100 female vocalists, and is one of the few women who get into the top 100 guitarists. She plays blues, rock, folk and country. She often uses a bottle neck.
There's not a very good range of videos on YT. 😞
This is her 'signature' song. She's not playing. However, Bruce Hornsby does a great job on piano :
_Bonnie Raitt & Bruce Hornsby - I Can't Make You Love Me_ th-cam.com/video/ZTIu4UbkK94/w-d-xo.html (5m:31s)
These feature Bonnie Raitt on guitar:
_Raitt Adams-Rock Steady-Live_ th-cam.com/video/vKVqnckO8_A/w-d-xo.html (5m:3s) Bryan Adams is 'guesting'. He co-wrote the song with Gretchen Peters for Bonnie (there's a short spoken intro before the song starts at 50 seconds).
_Bonnie Raitt - Something To Talk About_ th-cam.com/video/BQLpRBDrhn8/w-d-xo.html (3m:37s) Rocky Pop. Won her Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (in competition with Oleta Adams, Mariah Carey, Amy Grant and Whitney Houston!).
_Bonnie Raitt & Roy Rogers - Gnawin' On It_ th-cam.com/video/LpTOVnd-9gA/w-d-xo.html (5m:12s) a fun bop. They're both playing exceptional slide, she gives Roy Rogers plenty of space to shine.

_Bonnie Raitt - Thing Called Love - 11/26/1989 - Henry J. Kaiser Auditorium (Official)_ th-cam.com/video/iTzDrB16y5E/w-d-xo.html (4m5s) lighter, like country rock.
That’s because Chris Stapleton is basically a modern day blues artist that marketed himself as country because it’s more popular are commercial
I suggest Freddie King Live.
#britPopReacts Need to check out some Gary Moore "Still got the blues" & "The Messiah" he has a phenomenal soulful voice, legendary blues guitarist. As a subscriber of yalls for over a year, I know yall will appreciate & absolutely 💜 it! "Without you" is a great next step to react to, he is absolutely worth your next deep dive. Btw, love you guys, great channel, great, reactions, great music discoveries, etc. Keep up the great work. Much love from Alabama, USA 🇺🇸 ❤ 🇬🇧 let's keep the unity going!
It's in B.
👍🎸
SRV...SIMPLY THE GOAT! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 YOU SUFFER FROM ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER! 🤷🏻♂️
Its in B.
Red Clay Strays
No way its a 10.
8.5? Too low.
I'M A 5TH GENERATION NATIVE TEXAN COUNTRY BOY REDNECK AND GRANDMASTER IN SEVERAL MARTIAL ARTS SYSTEMS AND I DON'T THINK THAT BP1 COULD KNOW GREAT NESS IF IT HIT HIM IN THE HEAD ,
