You know you’re great when you can take a children’s nursery rhyme and put it to music then have it turn into a badass song. SRV was a gift sent to the music world for us to listen to in awe. He will always be the G.O.A.T

Enjoy your trip down the SRV rabbit hole... Some of us got hooked on him in person, mostly because we are old and from TX. Some of us got hooked later, but one thing is certain. Once you've heard that guy play, you can pick him out of a crowd by just a few notes and you'll never forget.

Reese is just a killer keyboard player. Formerly in Johnny Winter's band (as was Tommy Shannon) and is now playing with Joe Bonamassa. I love watching him play when he's up for a solo! Really an under the radar player but man...he really moves the groove.

A lot of young brothers out there reacting to his music. He'd be SO pleased. He so desperately wanted to help keep the blues alive in an era when electronic music was all the rage. The fact that young people are getting turned on to blues again would thrill him to no end.

Sometime soon after Stevie got clean Tommy also got treatment, not sure if Chris was in the same boat, but the whole point was they’re able to live and laugh and be normal decent guys cause they quit drinking and drugging, and they did soon after seeing Stevie get clean and healthy.

Great reaction to the GOAT Stevie Ray Vaughn. I first started listening to him back in the mid 1980's and he blew me away with his " Texas-style Lightening Blues " guitar skills! Now I have every album he and his Band " Double Trouble " recorded and also DVD's that were made after his death... ( ...the first Live recording was on VHS tape...) which brings me to why I started this comment...
Search up " Stevie Ray Vaughn " Live at the El Macombo. Since you were blown away by " Mary had a Little Lamb " ... the song to do a reaction to is " Texas Flood " ... the song is sorta lengthy but he plays he " Lightening Fast picking style ( wait for it) BEHIND HIS BACK!!! The Man was truly amazing and there will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughn! R.I.P. Stevie your tens of thousands of fans miss you but ... through the Magic of TH-cam... you will NEVER be forgotten! 👍👍😎

I had heard him play this many, many times - but I just smiled my face stiff when I heard him change "Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow," (the way he's played it many times) to " Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was black as coal..." God, how I loved (and still do) this man.
To be so playful with a nursery rhyme - to turn it inside up, and outside in, and make it a love song - with some of the most beautiful rhythm playing ever (a very, very under-rated skill), and let the keys fly, as the real solo - incredible.
    Beautiful - just beautiful.
And a great reaction - respect, brother.

Something I read in a comment section about a week ago but Reese was the keyboardist prior to the forming of the Allman Brothers Band while Duane was convincing Greg to come back from California. Duane and Greg Allman were brothers. Now I haven't verified this yet so you need to check. That plus Tommy the bassist use to play for Johnny Winter. Stevie had some some serious talent backing him up. It's the old saying that the cream always rises to the top.

Why? To download this! I also did a download of "Cold Shot" by Stevie Ray Vaughn. But I had to come back to say you thank you so much, and to listen to your reaction. This is the first time I've ever heard this guy. The "Cold Shot" video seems to be from the same show (Austin, TX), and also has Reese Wynans on the organ in that performance. Oh, and I brought back something for y'all from that page, in case you and/or some of your viewers hadn't seen it. It's a little story (slightly paraphrased) that says it all:
    Here goes:
The Devil challenged God to a guitar battle.
"OK," God said, "I'm bringing Stevie."
"Damn!" muttered the Devil. ..."Never mind."

The sound that made Austin famous right there. More than any other...that deep Fender Austin sound. Fabulous T-bird sound his brother had. 100% Austin...Texas...blues. Quintessential SRV. The sound is immediately recognizable to those that know it regardless of who is playing it. Those chords and riffs...you can smell Austin listening to this song. The ghost of Clifford Antone is in the heavy air. Life is so good and laid back, your almost ashamed to be living it and you wonder why everyone on earth isn't here, but in the back of your mind you know, you don't want them to come and ruin it knowing it can't be kept a secret. But for a time...for a time...it was glorious. Now it's a 'tech town' since the 90's filled with people that think their present is a past they never lived or...forgot. Austin is just another great city torn up by big tech and they don't ...even...realize it. Austin ...the future San Francisco/Silicon Valley. Yeah...and who wants that ? Or maybe a retirement town. Be south Florida. Enjoy your death Austin. You deserve it. Just ...rename it. That's not any Austin I ever knew.....in any ideal or reality. 'Keep Austin Corporate'. Or...'Keep Austin Dallas'. That's better. Houston is the new Texas 'cool'. I don't live there but from 1980 to present I've never seen two cities that 'flipped' being awesome to suck and vice-versa as much as those two cities have. Houston sucked for soooo long...and Austin was paradise. Now...I'd take Houston....all...day...long. Dallas of course...has always been a sack o' dicks. Mark Cuban ? Nuff said....why do you think SRV left ? Because it sucked and always has. My guess is every day he lay there spinning saying...they buried me HERE ? In this shit hole I worked my whole life to get out of ? You ungrateful assholes.

Yall don't understand, .13 strings. Makes most guitar fingers bleed. He broke them . Self taught. Just like jimi Hendrix and Clapton. They played .08 strings. SRV shredded it for 1.5 hour shows

Stevie just became sober prior to this performance on Austin City Limits. He went to rehab and got off of drugs and booze. This was one of his first performances off the stuff and as you can see
he didn't need anything to help him play!

SRV is one of the few guitar gods that escaped his addiction. Still wound up with too short of a life though

I love u man, ur funny....it’s ur education that makes ur funny.....puttin’ Stevie at the end of the list, 🤣😂🤣😂....as an amazing musician ur self, U see things the others don’t, and u also make musician jokes (I’m one too, guitar/fender bass).....f yeah, chod......ive been following u for quite a while, but I’m on an srv kick, and I’m going back, I didn’t know h did so many of srv;s songs, and now I’m just in heaven...keep up the amazing work man....Ur reactions are educational, ive been playing for 30 years, and I still learn stuff (like we all do, life-long), but I learn from ur reactions/insights, it’s amazing, like ive learned stufff about my fave drummer , stewart copeland from u....great stufff, as always

New sub here. I get into your style of reaction. I love that you PAY 100% attention to every note, lyric and performance. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you check out his performance of “Riviera Paradise live in Austin Texas.” He doesn’t shred or has tricks, but his precision and what I call a “grown up” sound. Beautiful stuff.

If you want the ultimate chill song check out "Riviera Paradise". It was recorded in the middle of the night with the lights out and in one take. As soon as the last note died out the tape machine ran out of tape.

I was lucky enough to see him play twice in the 80's, I was totally crushed the day I found out he had died. I was at work and took the rest of the day off.

His Number 1 is a 1969 finder that he modified.
I was blessed to hear him play live on his soul to soul tour.
He has been compared to jimmy Hendrix as a white Jimmy Hendrix .
    RIP thank for the music
