I like the graveyard run, I feel like it adds an RP-aspect to the game with the dead realm.
Now that you mention WoW needs to bring back the cool....I totally forgot about that "Power of Friendship was within us all along" crap at the end of Dragonflight. Yes, bring back the cool please
Something I'd add for the rule of cool in WoW is the sense of horror that the game also had. I recently unlocked old scholomance, and something I felt when I was exploring that instance was that I couldn't think of a recent example where WoW had the vibe that dungeon had. Old WoW wasn't scared to be really dark and macabre, but I don't think modern WoW really has that vibe present.
Lost me at the graveyard run. Die and what…just..come back? That’s not cool that’s just removing another inconvenience to players (on top of any/all other challenges they’ve already removed).
That’s a mobile push to play MMO, let’s not turn WoW even more that way, please.
I wouldn't mind it if i just instantly spawned at the graveyard but having to slow walk or slow fly back to my corpse just wastes my time since nothing interesting happens at all, I'd rather be able to keep playing the game or get back to where I was faster
14:41 For the Horde
0:49 - It's not a punishment any longer. It should cease to exist after SL, but don't expect consistency from wow writers anymore.
1:35 - Before Blizzard implements anything fun there will be 3 more classic servers for it.
3:22 - It was added in time when basically any mmo had an island as starting zone, what doesn't make sense in wow lore due to separation. We meet so many pointless NPCs that you can loose interest in 15 min. There is also nothing to love about the zone design. It's as generic beach/hill/cavern as you can get. Azuremyst Isle and Eversong Woods are still doing their work better than this more than decade later and that introduction to basic mechanics is just insulting and is not helping with issues that new players have at all. Blizz definitely haven't made any blind testing.
5:35 - Because of course they want to shovel latest expansion down your throat right from the start, because it's how they make money. They simply can't afford for you to buy it after learning 20 years worth of lore by going through all expansions in few months. It have to be a day one buy if you somehow get to conclusion this game is bad. Why otherwise would you be haunted by NPC every time you get to capitol city...
7:02 - Currently Wow is nothing more than a theme park that lacks its own identity because it tries to compete with every genre on the market, since majority of causals are unwilling to spend "rpg" amount of time in the game doing rpg stuff and that made wow community a toxic place since game is no longer filtering people with main character syndrome.
9:44 - I loved Legion for many things and OH were one of them.
15:54 - Game has been pussified and disneyfied. I miss times when we were placing banners in bodies of our enemies. I quit wow during SL, when i learned what is your role in DF i couldn't stop laughing my ass off. Mighty dragons.... babysitter. It also makes no sense to me what they turned Anduin into. Dude was raised to be king, by one of the greatest badasses... and we got a cry baby. How person like that can make any decision based on logic, reason or strategy?
18:13 - No, they wont. Coolness no longer sells, only fancy mounts and cosmetics. People caring about plot and characters aren't paying the bills. Blizzard will start trying when people get bored with 1234 recolor and that is never going to happen.
It’s crazy how someone has to tell them all this before they get a clue.
1) No. The graveyard run isnt just a cool memory of Vanilla, is a very praised system that sits at a perfect middle point between a semi-instant respawn, and a harsh punishment in term of experience.
2) Dunno what this Brawler's Guild is, but it sound like a nice activity. Yeah they should keep things in the game, not remove them.
3) OH SHIT i didnt know you arent even allowed to start you character at your race starting zone in Dragonflight! That's nuts.
4) Yes, totally agree. RPG is the core of a MMORPG. The game needs to be way slower and way more into interpretation and discovery. /Unfortunatly, we are saying this since Cataclysm, and it almost never got better.
5) I dont have a strong opinion on this. Yes, the sci fi is strange, but not disappointing. Im more disappointend in the loss of important lore, the maximum example is the treatment that the NE leaders got. Warcraft should return to the "old cool" by dont forgetting the old and adorable png, and they sometimes did that, but without any consistency. Where the heck is Rexxar?
My final opinion is: come to Turtle WoW. You wont regret it.
Personally, the core reason why I don't play WoW, and I know they won't really resolve this for me due to their design philosophy, but I just dislike that static design of class gameplay.
What I mean by this isn't that there's no changes, but they want the core loop of every spec to remain unchanged so when new players come back, their class feels familiar and easy to get back into, but for me, having been someone who pivoted between classes and specs, and played for so long, even after not playing for 5 years, I can give a TLDR of how to play any spec in the game with like 90% accuracy, and I don't enjoy that. There's nothing new to learn, its just mastering skills I've been defining for so long, and it makes it near impossible for me to get interested in coming back.
On the topic of World building and the general presentation, I've always said WoW has Spotlight storytelling, and its a big issue. They focus on a small cast of main characters who are dealing with cosmic or world ending level threats. They don't let villains play a secondary role and build up, they don't give people time to breath and develop, yet force what's supposed to be big emotional beats at us with people we're barely invested into. Emotional beats take time. They could've done it really well with Jaina at the end of Icecrown if they wanted too, I personally really liked the moment when you give Sylvanas her medallion from her home in TBC, and she discards it, but sings a song in the memory of her people, It feels like the subtext of shirking the pain of the loss you feel, but knowing it can't be her motivation because she isn't that person anymore and has new duties, new responsibilities she has to uphold was a really good moment. Those only work because we care about those moments and those characters as they happen. If you didn't play Warcraft 3, giving Sylvanas that Necklace with little to no context probably didn't mean much of anything. They need to be patient.
For World building in general though, WoW has always frustrated me. The world has always felt one dimensional and lacked any real sense of verisimilitude. I know you can't expect a full world of development all the time, but there's so much untapped potential. Just looking at Silvermoon, and who the Blood elves are supposed to be, I have no idea why we don't have more minor characters doing things in an area like that. Leaders of minor houses trying to get power, people who disagree with the direction and want the return of a Monarchy, a restoration effort group trying to reclaim the Ghost lands, a .. port at all given Silvermoon is supposed to have a Navy and trade ships??? Like, there's so much world building to give more depth they could be doing in side material that flows back into the game, building those story threads that can be tugged in the future once they've been built up for future antagonists, betrayals or w/e.
I grew up with Warcraft and it'll always hold a special place in my heart, but for me, I honestly just prefer to view Warcraft 3 as the end of the canon. I feel there's so much lost in the transition in wow for how the world felt that defined the unique elements of the races. Just looking at night elves, they feel so watered down from the Matriarchal, Savage, Wild elves, Deep rooted in their traditions with different cultures of druidic circles based off the animal they embodied, and how important something like Moonwells felt, how big of an impact they had for Playing night elves, and yet.. Why not just let Moon wells be a fountain in towns you could regen Mana/Health rapidly by standing near, or that gave you a unique buff for a few minutes? You could've done so much to better define the racial identity, but it feels they were all just washed into one samey soup to avoid and friction.
My random yap got a bit side tracked. I'll always Love Warcraft, but I also hate so much about how they defined the world, and the general design choices of WoW as a game.
No graveyards but bring back RP!
Borrowed power/scaling/hero talents ruined wow for me. The reason is mainly because it came to a point where some classes just got cucked gameplay wise or ur rng really screwed you over such as Corruption power in bfa s4 if ur rng was terrible you were basically going to do Negative dmg while someone else could do 100k more then a fully Mythic raider just because he got some good corrpution powers. This goes for hero talents some classes they look so nice and feel good while others sit on the sideline with a very boring/unfun/not very strong set. as for scaling im more talking about the scaling after blizzard squished everything. it has made old content basically irrelevant to a new player as you miss so many stories leading up to where you are starting but also certain achievements such as Glory of the ____ Raider/dungeon hero have been scaled to where soloing them is kind of a challenge cause if you go to high of lvl even being naked you will kill everything in 1-2 hits. BoA gear was basically made into nothing because it no longer gives the xp buff (thats now given via leveling 5 characters to 80) but the downside to this is now its a 25% increase when old boa used to give you up to 60% increase in xp (10 from helm/shoulders/legs/chest, 5% from cloak/ring) With all this in mind my favorite time in wow was probably MoP while the talent system wasnt all that great i did feel like i was playing my chosen spec/class like if i picked a fire mage i really felt like a fire mage while also still having the factions kind of at each others throat so i got to see 2 perspectives of the story of what each side was trying to accomplish on pandaria. MoP also brought one of my favorites (even tho i didnt succeed to obtain the rewards for it) but challenge mode dungeons were fun and having the reward of some badass pheonix's & a set the resembles ur class almost perfectly (my favorites being Lock/druid/warrior) it really was kind of rewarding and i honestly thing Challenge modes should of been the main dungeon end game. Heck they brought it back in WoD and brought some badass weapons to go along with ur challenge mode sets u got the xpac bfore and they could of reused it in legion so Demon hunter the new class could of obtain one for them while bringing in maybe new styles that fit the classes again.... instead in legion u get a dumb down version blizzard basically Copy-Pasted but just lowered the coolness by 1000 and put them in ur class hall.... I think wow just gave too much power to the player at some point and now we just have this mess of even if we slightly tried going back it would cause so many people to riot or just stop playing.
Complaining about graveyard run , Hardcore players : " pathetic " btw it would be nice to add some olution bcs what else ? just make you immortal ? or instantly revive ?
TWW story is kinda ok but it is still the same melodramatic shit from dragonflight. I guess there are no men left in the storytelling department. It is so soft right now and dont get me started on anduin being a bitch with daddy issues and khadgars arcane wheelchair.
Faction is done gone
I stopped playing wow since BFA, but how did you die in open world? There's no pvp, and from leveling you know that if you are not a class with good aoe or tank you probably shouldn't pull more than 1 or 2 mobs, it's not Skyrim to fall from mountains cuz you don't have to go up on a mountains like in Skyrim...
For the video I just needed video so I just fell from my flying mount, but there was a time where one of the world quests I attempted was leveling... had max level mobs so yeah that didn't turn out well for me ll
You are seriously part of the problem. Lazy ruined wow
dying in an mmorpg and then forced to run to the corpse...immagine that..
