I greatly admire your approach to problem solving. You are not married to a particular solution to achieve the desired result, and you allow yourself to remain focused on the result, rather than focusing on "fixing" the original solution. Bravo!
Would flipping the rack 180 degrees, so that the body of the rack is towards the front of the sub help? That way the input shaft of the crank is angled backward. Your left wrist would be in a more natural bend when operating the crank.
Just a thought, but a manual steering box for a truck would give you a single steering arm and wouldn't take up as much real estate. Prob get one dirt cheap at a wrecker's to mock up. Solving these problems is the part of the process I enjoy most. I'm starting on an ROV and I'm sure I've got some head-scratchers in my future as well.
@@HankPronk Indeed - there's plenty of OTS hardware available but integrating it all is the challenge. Maybe I'll bring it out to your lake when it's done & get some shots of your sub in action. Easier than trailering yours to the coast !

Thank you, I appreciate that.
You've got a winning attitude. There's no stopping that. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.
Thanks, you are dead on, some times it works and other times you learn, I like that.
@@HankPronk Yep, as long as you learn from your mistakes, you never fail.

I tried every which way, even on the opposite side. Sometimes forcing it to work makes it crappy.
Keep on keep'n on! That's the way to do it!
Thanks

ROV's are tricky from an electronics point of view. Enjoy

That sub has a very unfortunate shape.
How so?
@HankPronk kinda looks like the oceangate titan.
@@jakobc.2558 Yes it does, but it is built with standard materials with an 8 to 1 safety margin.
