Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us-one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. At a time when it’s increasingly easy to feel cynical or hopeless, former Obama staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor have created a place where people can have sane conversations that inform, entertain, and inspire action. In 2017 they started Crooked with Pod Save America-a no-bullshit conversation about politics. Since then, we continue to add shows, voices, and opportunities for activism, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world. That’s it. End of mission.

Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer riding the podium through the streets of NY is EPIC! 🤣
How was this missed?!
Yeah, how was her sketch not included? She was perfect.
They need Part 2.
The Moose Lamb ban...
Came to say the same!
How the heck did Melissa McCarthy as spicer not even make it on as a choice??! I just rewatched both skits and it’s impossible to not laugh. Probably one of the funniest things I have ever watched.
I thought that same thing but wondered if it would have been 100% lopsided if it was on the board knowing whoever won heads or tails would inevitably win just by choosing that one alone. 🤣😂
I know for a fact whoever chose it would have gotten my vote. 🤣
Melissa as “Spicey” is not on here?? Whaaaat?
Melissa as Sean Spicer is the GREATEST COMEDY SKIT of all time!!!! It wins hands- down!! What are you guys thinking of???
BTC won because of his rap debut! Isn’t he the Tyler Taylor everyone is talking about??
Melissa was gold in those Spicer send ups! Pure gold!! Lol!!!
There definitely needs a part 2 of this. Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer, Hader as Jim Jordan, any of Sudeikis as Biden are all great
I’d like to see an entire show on Presidents in order of their election.
Maybe even juxtapose some matching clips of the actual presidents so everyone can appreciate how fantastically accurate some of these impressions were.
❤😂EXACTLY 💯 🎉😂😂😂
Cecily's Kari Lake and Marjorie Taylor Green
Woody Harrelson as Biden!
Jay Pharoah as Obama… hands down 😂
Matt Damon's Kavanaugh is my absolute favorite political sketch ever.
I love Damon and that is one of my faves too!
Shout out to my boys, PJ, Squee, Donkey Dong Doug, and Gang Bang Greg
@@ryan4627 Which the liberal media is going to find SOME way to spin!
I'm surprised that sketch wasn't the 2nd pick behind Tina Fey Palin. Everything about that worked so well. Kate McKinnon was incredible as Lindsey Graham.
He was so funny! I about die laughing every time!
I'd forgotten the Kavanaugh bit, Matt Damon really needs to do more comedy, the guy is hilarious. He's great in everything he does but his comedic chops are underrated
Jimmy Kimmel does not approve lol
It's truly one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
The Asgard actors are funny.
Agreed! I was doubled over screaming laughing at this! The quintessential distillation of our frat boy SCOTUS Justice!
Matt Damon!
I think this entire episode needs to be redone because the TOP is Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer
I agree! I was sobbing with laughter every time she played him.
Looking back on it, it's truly terrifying how accurate the Matt Damon Kavanaugh bit was. Those hearings were so unhinged.
Oh, for the days of simple outrage when Spicey chasing that reporter with the podium made me laugh until I cried. It still does...
yup, just the thought of it has me in tears. I can't believe they didn't include it.
That skit was HILARIOUS!! I watched it live and then watched it several more times on TH-cam to laugh again. Casting was 👩🏽🍳’s 😘!!
BTC ALMOST nailed it. 😂 When Hallelujah first aired I wept. It was heartwrenching. Well done guys, but I also wish the Sean Spicer skit had been included.
They definitely missed the boat with the Spicer sketch. I was laughing so hard, I couldn't breathe when it first aired.
@@AlerieHightower Me too! I still laugh thinking about them!!
Same for the Hallelujah sketch. Still has me choking up.
How come there was no warning on this video!!😭 It's a lot to see her sing that even years later. SNL delivered that night.
I think most of Tommy's picks were easily better than Brian's in this one. But if Brian had just thought of Melissa's Spicer, it would be a much harder call.
I think we are the real winners with these damn challenges🤣🤣🤣🤣
Has Brian ever heard lose yourself?!?🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dana Carvey as Ross Perot was hilarious. I also loved Chevy Chase as Ford during a debate stating, “I was told there would be no math.” My vote goes to Brian.
This was such a nostalgic and fun segment, but I agree with others that missing Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer was tragic. 😂
OMG, I adore Kate McKinnon, yet I had absolutely no idea what a talented singer and piano player she is. I'm blown away! Awesome!
I get this was supposed to be about actual politicians, but one of the best pieces of political commentary on SNL was the Black Jeopardy sketch with Tom Hanks.
The Black Jeopardy sketch and David Pumpkins, the last gasp of innocence before the Dark Times.
Blank Panther; King Chatala, was damn close
Yes! One of my favorite sketches of all time
"I can see Russia from my house." -Tina Fey as Sarah Palin
How could we forget Melissa McCarthy's Emmy-winning turn as Sean Spicer? Also, good for you, Brian. That rap at the end was brutal.
Tommy wins for me overall but I agree that not having Spicey's skits is terrible.
Tommy takes it this week. Dana as George Sr. and Tina as Sarah were epic.
Dont forget Matt Damon as "I like beer" Kavanaugh, absolutely epic!
I had a top 5 before they started, Tommy had all 5 lol.
Wouldn't be prudent to overlook Dana Carvey
This one isn't even close. You could have me name 100 political snl sketches before I got to the Hilary thing. #1 pick? crazy. Kavenaugh and Carvey at 3 and 4? Either could have gone #1.
My thoughts exactly.
How could you leave off the debate between Bush and Dukakis where John Lovitz says "I can't believe I'm losing to this guy"
Sorry guys but the “I can’t believe I’m losing to this guy” moment by Jon Lovitz as Mike Dukakis is the single most potent and impactful moment of political comedy, not just in SNL history but in all modern, televised political satire.
He said what everyone was thinking aloud....on television for us. Epic.
Tina Fey as Sarah Palin was iconic. I remember how crazy that summer was with Sarah Palin blowing onto the scene and the Republican base latching onto her even as it became increasingly obvious that she was a bigoted, petty dummy out of her depth. Tina had already left SNL by that point but everyone was still hoping she would play Sarah. So it was so delightful when the SNL season premiere cold open started, and there was Tina as Sarah. I remember being at my friend’s birthday party and everyone gathered around the TV to watch.
Tina’s book is hilarious about this. She was doing 30 Rock, planning her kid’s birthday party, and coming back to do Palin. Oprah was guesting on 30 Rock that week and expressed concern that Tina was doing too much. (Paraphrasing) “When Oprah asks if you might have too much on your plate, you need to examine your life”
I'm no Melissa McCarthy fan. At all. But her Spicer had me laughing to the point of wheezing.
Lisa Ann as Serra Paylin was a close second.
I remember on Facebook there was an event where all the members were supposed to try to make Sarah Palins head explode by imagining in really hard and the last line in the post said in bold make sure you do not accidentally think of Tina Feys head exploding.
Remember when she gave a speech in front of turkeys on a conveyer belt! You couldn't write that kind of comedy. I think Veep tipped their hat to that moment at some point.
Tina Fey does an AMAZING sarah palin impression. The first time i saw her i looked up if SNL actually got Palin for a sketch.
They DID get Palin for a sketch, Tina was doing her impression and Palin came on and had a discussion with Lorne
She’s so funny! 😂🙏🏻🎉👍💕
@@cleverusername9369 Really? Oh i gotta see that
@@_im_not_a_crook look up "Senator Sarah Palin's Press Conference SNL" she had a pretty good sense of humor about herself
No one will ever forget, I CAN SEE RUSSIA FROM MY HOUSE!!!".
Kate McKinnon's cold open is what I watch when I need a good cry. I teared up watching it hear.
The Jimmy Carter one is a great memory, I remember watching it live in the late 1970s. He used to do a Saturday morning call in show, kind of like a Townhall type thing. And the bit was a play on that. The other part of that bit is he describes in detail how to repair a postal sorting machine, it was very hilarious.
Jimmy Carter was the last real person as President. All the rest were conjured and groomed for prime time. Kinda sad.
Seriously, Tommy picking the brett kavanaugh skit instantly put him ahead.
I Love Brian, but this one I have to give to Tommy. By far. Tina Fay and Matt Damon are iconic and invincible! 😂
Matt Damon and Tina Fey were both amazing. I will say that my favorite Tina as Sarah Palin skit was with Amy as Katie Couric. They played off each other so so well. For me, Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer still remains one of my favorites of recent years - and still when I think of Spicer, all I can think of is those skits.
“I’d like to use one of my lifelines.” Courier/Amy’s expression …
Brian gets my sympathy vote because that rap. And because honestly, the cold open of Hallelujah still gets to me.
Chevy Chase's Gerald Ford falling created an image of Gerald Ford as clumsy and inept. In reality, Ford was a gifted athlete.
I completely agree. That is up there with Tina Fey. The poor guy had landed somewhere and coming down the steps, he stumbled. It wasn’t even a big deal, but they ran with it and ran with it!
Absolutely
SNL Gold
This. Chevy Chase's Gerald Ford was the most vicious - maybe even cruel - impression ever. No attempt to look or sound anything like the real man. Make him look like a world-class klutz when in reality he had played football at Michigan. And they even had Ford's press secretary on one show.
It was a metaphor for his ineptitude as a leader...
And he'd deserved everything that Chevy did to his character on Saturday Night due to his pardoning of Nixon "so that the nation could heal" or whatever other phony excuse he'd given.
My comment zeroed in on Ford being seen as a bumbling idiot which contradicted the fact that the man was an All American football player. But I kinda knew somebody would bring up the pardon of Nixon.
I too believe Ford shouldn't have pardoned Nixon and that in doing so established the president was above the law. I also believe there is a direct connection between Gerald Ford's pardon and our current mess. I dislike making political comments.
That punishment was hilarious, well done to all. BTC had surprisingly good flow, especially given he was impersonating Eminem aka the GOAT
The Matt Damon one is literally my favorite SNL sketch in GENERAL, so whoever picked that one, they were gonna get my vote regardless of what else they picked 😂😂😂
Brian!! You killed it, for a news guy!!!! ❤❤❤ “whitest-thing I’ve ever done in my life” so funny!!!
Where is the Sean Spicer impression?
I’ve never seen the Hallelujah clip.
Incredibly talented woman. And she does woodworking ❤
I will never forget Dana Carvey and Tina Feys impressions. The 2 most memorable...love the added green screen to the punishment!😂
FUN FACT: the real George W Bush actually never even *said* the words "wouldn't be prudent"! We just think he did because of Carvey!
This is my favorite consequence. Thank you for bringing so much joy on a Monday. Tommy, I think you win again this week. Tina as Sarah is the ultimate.
My best friend is a huge fan of the POD, and I am a BTC girl - who I playfully refer to as my Political Boyfriend (even though I'm close to twice his age) so I love when you collab - but it hurts my heart to see my boyfriend lose & have to humiliate himself. I sang along with you Brian, two tone deaf rappers are better than 1!
Where's Jim Carrey as Joe Biden? Those skits were hilarious
Jason Sudeikis was the best Joe Biden😂
@@tweety1864absolutely. Those sketches where he was debating Sarah Palin by talking about how trashy Scranton and Wilmington are was hilarious.
There was plenty left out!

Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer was so slept on in this episode
Love you guys ❤️ Love the Gorgeous pup 🐾🐾❤️Keep up the great work 💪💙🇺🇲
There are so many SNL skits that I wish had been included. Like the Spicer skits, McKinnon as Sessions getting fired and singing Adele or Angela Merkle in the NATO cafeteria. I also liked Bill Hader as Jim Jordan when Michael Cohen was testifying to Congress. Or when DeNiro and Ben Stiller were reenacting the polygraph scene in Meet the Parents but on SNL they were Robert Mueller and Michael Cohen. There's just so many political skits to choose from.
The NATO sketch was so international and cool 😎
OMG..I forgot about the NATO skit. That was epic too.
The Kavanaugh skit was off the charts. Like literally outstanding. And any time Melissa McCarthy did Sean Spicer I absolutely lost it 😂
The production value on the punishment was awesome. And BTC pulls it off as awkwardly as Vivek did. Just perfection.
Wish we had SNL going right now to comment on some of the political garbage and help influence decisions
Matt Damon as BK was so hilarious! Gotta go with Tommy for that one.
Oh my Gosh!! 🤣 BTC rapping was the best laugh ever! Ya’ll do remember the internet is forever right? I love these episodes.
With the Writers Strike about to be over. SNL should be back with bangers.
Love these two together...
My mother and I still laugh at the sketch when Will Ferrell played George W Bush with a band aid on his face. Also I literally screamed when BTC was rapping. 😂😂😂
I’m sorry, but you both lost for not putting Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer on the board. Truly a classic 😄 Great episode, thanks for the laughs!
Does it count as a punishment when Brian was clearly living one of his childhood dreams? 🤣
BTC and Vietor doing my Monday a solid! Love these guys
That was a great punishment and Brian you're a great sport for trying. As always I love your work you were the first political commentary Channel that I found on TH-cam and you are still my favorite.
When it comes to comedy, these contests are my absolute favorite thing on Pod Save America!
I will always watch the full shows, but nothing makes me laugh more than Tommy Vietor & Brian Tyler Cohen!
OMG! Hysterical! Thank you! 🙏🏻🎉🇺🇸⚖️❕
Quickly becoming my must see each week.
That punishment is perfect... I love it. A moment that will live with me and bring me joy for a long time.
BTC....YOU'RE THE BEST! The ending of this vid was so great lol I had to put down my phone and watch again.
You and Tommy together....brilliance! ❣️
I really enjoy this series Tommy and BTC! Loved revisiting these great sketches from SNL, they’re all brilliant and funny. The Kate McKinnon/Hilary one is my favorite for its poignancy, still hits close to home. Please don’t make each other eat anything else that causes bodily harm, we care about you guys and need you 🥵😱🫣That being said I am definitely here for BTC trying to rap lmao, loved it 😂.
You may need a part 2 for this because you can't talk about amazingly funny SNL political sketches without *Jim Carrey as Joe Biden, with Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris!* 🤣😂😅
It's good to see these two together and laughing at SNL.😊
Brian, that's true devotion! Amazing.
That punishment!! 😂😂 that was awesome!❤😂
That punishment was painful for us.
It was fine and harmless for a spontaneous embarrassing punishment. But I agree BTC should keep his day job.
White rappers make me cringe 98.3% of the time.
Tina Fey as Sarah Palin was my #1 favorite SNL satire moment 😅
You can't make me choose!! I shall pick Brian out of loyalty and because the Lose Yourself moment was as good as all the SNL clips. 😂
Love the selection -- two I think should be included next time. Melissa McCarthy is the new definition of Sean Spicer. Also, I know this one is more recent and only had a couple of appearances -- but Chris Redd as Mayor Adams was was damn good!
Showing my age: Chevy Chase as the falling Pres. Ford, "Bizarro World" skits aimed at Reagan, A Reagan Oval Office skit showing him as the doddering old man when the press were present, but, after they left he became the cold calculating task-master that we all knew was ridiculous.
I loved the UN Dinner with Trudeau, Macron, Johnson, Trump, and Merkel. And of course Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer.
Colbert’s White House Correspondent’s dinner speech to a furious George W was also great. I know it wasn’t an SNL skit but it was an amazing piece of satire. Jon Lithgow’s Rudy was great too.
Oh my, I can't unsee and unhear BTC singing Loose Yourself
I can't believe Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer didn't make it.
Yeah, that was an obvious oversight. Her Sean Spicer is in my top 3 of all time.
@@advocacynaccountablity Same! Just did a re-watch because they were SO good.
Love what you two do together! So fun to watch.
It's Tommy this time! Matt Damon, Ask President Carter, hands down my faves.
Omg….these clips are all winners…100% the Hillary Clinton skit….still makes me cry.
The.Rap.
🌟🌟🌟🌟💕💕💕😂😂😂😂
You guys are so much fun.
Yeah, Tommy would have crushed this with just Dana Carvey and Tina Fey.
The Palin/Biden VP debate was hysterical and so was the SNL parody with Queen Latifa as Gwen Ifill.
I can never get enough of this. So true that SNL has made the politics of the nation. I agree, Tina Fey as Palin sticks with you!
Absolutely fantastic to revisit these gems ❤
The writers have had time off to recoup and there has been plenty of material since the strike has gone on the catch up episodes should be awesome!
btw: vote 🗳️ people
I'm sure I'm not the only one who always looks for the dog...thanks for putting him front and center right at the beginning. 🙂
Great episode!!! Loved it❤️
Two things: One, I am now a Matt Damon fan because of Tommy. 🤩 Two, just saw the results of this draft’s poll and… I am in disbelief because one guy has a landslide lead for reasons I cannot (or just don’t want to) understand. Could we get a pollster on the show to find out why this is happening? Please?! 😢
Tina Fey ended Sarah Palin.
Ranked choice voting keeps Palin sidelined!
We should all use it!
With that hoodie on, for a second I thought Brian was Bradley Cooper and I didn't know what was going on. Lol. I think my favorite political SNL sketch is from my childhood of Chevy Chase playing Ford just falling down a lot. I laugh whenever I think about it to this day; so goofy! :)
It probably wouldn't count for this because she's not a politician, but Cecily Strong's Jeanine Pirro is my all time favorite political SNL bit.
You were partially right about the Jimmy Carter one. The main thing they were making fun of was the way he micro-managed things. At the time it really was viewed as a problem.
Dana Carvey is forever my GHWB. Tommy gets this one.
I love that they got a kid to play Dan Quayle. It works so well
BTC cracked me up when he said he was nostalgic for the 90s! I feel that way every minute of every day. It never stops. (I'm a minute or two older than him, though...I'm nostalgic for the 80s, too). I'm SO HAPPY to see some Aykroyd and MURRAY on your list!!! THANK YOU for digging deeper into the past. 💚🙏
I would've been happy if all 10 choices were Will Ferrell playing Dubya. ALL of them are incredibly hilarious.
"I've been seeing all these polls now that that Your fired guy is in office of how my polls are improving, and I'd just like to say ....hehe... just to remind y'all...I was bad. Like, really bad."
Shout out to Melissa McCarthy's run as Sean Spicer
You're awesome and such a good sport, BTC!! ❤❤
so great - cannot believe that I'd forgotten half of these 😀
Kate McKinnon singing Hallelujah literally helped pull me back from the brink of depression. I was feeling so down and so dismayed. I wasn't expecting that and it hit home for me like nothing else.
She will always be my favorite SNL cassy member.
Love you Kate!
This is such a fun show! Thanks, guys, for doing this!
Brian is hysterical rapping . . . Great show & snl choices 😂
Where is Melissa McCarthys skit as Sean Spicer? That was epic.
Man major shout out to BTC for doing that rap without Eminem behind him to help. That coward Ramiswamy wants to seem cool but won’t even let us hear what he sounds like without Eminem behind him to cover up his mistakes.
