Thank you, Leslie. I'm new to your channel. I found a turtle dove in my area (southern Minnesota) 15 years ago. I was going to nurse him back to health and release him. Turns out he was just freezing to death because they are originally from India! So we kept him in the house. We let him fly around the house sometimes and he's been a wonderful addition to our family. Like I said, we've had him 15 years....I don't know how long they live in captivity, but he will be loved forever. I'm kind of a bird nerd too!😊
This is amazing! I used to hand feed birds a long time ago in my Philadelphia backyard. They would even hover at the window when we’d come home from work for me to feed them. We’d open the back door and say “Chickadees want seed?” It was an incredible experience.. I have t been able to do this much anymore. Also I remember feeding an immature goldfinch.. it didn’t want to leave my hand. It took a lot of patience I remember. Once they trust you, they trust you. And you know which is which? And name them? Wow. !!!! The joy this brings you must be immense. Happy Birding!!!

It’s Easter morning here in California. What a beautiful way to start my day. My wee friends are quite different here in a much warmer climate...but still, a gift from God that gives such joy. Thank you so much for the video!
Hi! I saw 2 robins on my deck last week and the grackles are grackling around. The male goldfinches are just starting to become sunny. Our 2 mourning doves cuddle on the pear tree. We still have snow down but it's slowly melting. I've started what seedlings I can, they're all cozy under their lamp. These are strange and sorrowful times. My mum died in February from cancer. Then the world became turmoil. I don't even know when we can place her remains in her columbarium niche. It may be months. Those of us who love and enjoy nature are blessed. A moment of joy can be easily found.

During this crazy time I've been spending hours everyday with the birds. Just feeding and watching them lifts my spirit!! The chickadees have been hanging out with more than 20 Juncos. With so many Juncos here at once I've noticed their calls sound like cartoon space aliens shooting little ray guns! It's hysterical! Thanks for the Zen moments from your videos! 🙏 Namaste

When a wild bird rests his feet on you or lands on you it feels so wonderful 🥰🕊 it’s a privilege given by God to kind hearted people.
I live in an apartment complex where I of course can’t go out in the woods, but I love that everyone here seems to love animals so aside from all the dogs and cats people own, a lot of people have bird feeders so there’s tons bird, squirrels, and rabbits.

It’s great that nature doesn’t get controlled by Covid. I find such joy in feeding birds. A place Indiana Pa called Blue Spruce Park you can hand feed them. I got a cardinal really close.

God bless Lesley for being able to tell the blue jays apart by sight. I've never been able to tell our outdoor friends apart except for ones like Hoppy that have a distinctive aspect, like the one-eyed squirrel that we used to have (lost sight in one eye) or the squirrel with the white patch of fur (who of course was named Patchy). PS, I love Hoppy and send her good wishes.
