LesleytheBirdNerd In a couple of your diaries, you mentioned "winter depression looming" over you. Here's the key and it's free: th-cam.com/video/aqX5IFKYFWk/w-d-xo.html The above link is just an example, but probably appropriate to most types of depressions. Please take advantage. Depressions can be wonderful tools for practicing awareness and learn to stay present.
Lesley , It's amazing that you are so connected with the birds , so many personal feathered friends...just so cool !! I enjoy your channel , it's so entertaining and uplifting !! 🐦 ❤
I have been a subscriber for a couple of months now, and I am amazed at your ability to tell the birds apart, as well as the fact that the birds eat out of your hands. I provide several pie plates on my patio filled with birdseed, nuts, mealworms, and water for the birds and squirrels. Our patio stays active with visitors all day long. It's a great source of entertainment for me and my two indoor cats. I especially enjoy the blue jays, which was how I originally found your channel.
Thank you for doing such an excellent job on all your videos. It brightens my day when I realize that you have provided me another outstanding video to watch. Wishing the best for you and yours.
Mockingbirds in the bushes in front of my house sing all...day...long...so lovely to hear! Actually, they can be heard even after dark. What happy little creatures.
Birds bring me a sense of peace. I have no idea why but I'm drawn to them, I think they are the most magical form of wildlife. Thank you for helping me learn more about them 🙏
Thanks for another great video. I find your videos to be very informative and entertaining. More importantly, I find them very relaxing. Watching you interact with your avian friends is pure magic, and your voice is soothing to my soul. The scenery is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.
So cute!! Sweet girl took the whole egg piece! She has quite the appetite! Thanks for posting ! I can really recognize Hermoso no problem for some reason! 😆 he’s a cutie, you must have been excited to see them again after so long, I know how nice it is and how much of a relief it is to see your bird friends after not seeing them for for a little while
@@LesleytheBirdNerd 💜💜💜💜💜👍🥁🎵🎤🎶🐉💕💞🐦🐥🐓Yes .Your videos are so lovely ! And natural !!! Peaceful ! That's what we need especially now during this crazy lockdown ! Thank you so much for your videos ! Please stay safe ! Which State ( assuming that you're in the States ,too ! ), are you in !? I wonder how cold when you were shooting your video here & there during the winter !?
I'm impressed with how you can recognize these individual birds. Somewhat awed with your ability to have them approach you. Had an uncle who seemed to know individual birds. Enjoyed your vid.
This right here shows why nature, forests, and the outdoors in general is my church. It's an indescribable feeling that makes everything just a bit easier and enjoyable. Lovely video, I'm a wimp with the cold so videos like this help me to phone it in, so to speak :)
Lesley, agree with everyone,, you are truly gifted, and the BJ are amazing. We are hooked on your adventures and hope that your book will come out someday too.
No joke but my cat sits on my desk and watches your videos from start to finish, and is completely captivated. That is as close as he ever gets to the outside world. Love the work and effort you put in.
my indoor kitty loves these videos. He sits on my lap and puts his little paws up on the edge of my laptop and stares in awe. Nice pastime while we're all staying close to home and it's too cold & windy for him to go out on the deck in his kitty gazebo. This summer I have to try to feed our chickadees by hand. They are pretty friendly at our feeder.
Hi Lesley, a book of your experiences with birds and critters would be fascinating I think. You've had such an amazing life with your friends. As always, thank you for letting us see your unusual and intriguing relationship.
Happy Belated Birthday to you, I'm glad you found a nice way to enjoy it despite this strange time we are in. Blue jays can be so fun to watch. Take care
Great videos Lesley. Since COVID-19 has hit everyone, the one thing I have to look forward to most days is my morning walks. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who gets joy out of watching the birds. Your videos are awesome. Keep it up!
Greetings from Iowa. I just found your videos and have enjoyed them very much as I sit at home quarantined. Our home backs up to a wooded area and I am learning so much about the birds see. Lots of chickadees today. A male and female cardinal, many juncos and several woodpeckers that I can hear hammering the trees. Thanks for sharing your expertise and love of birds.
WOW !!! I have never seen a blue jay singing before ! Those birds are cuties !!! So cute !!! Adorable ! I didn't know they eat boiled eggs ! Wow ! I learned a lot today ! Yay YAY !🎵🥁🎤🎶🐉💜💜💜💜💕💞🐦🐥🐓
Yes, the feeders are alive in the Northeast, with lots of characters and colors. I had a nuthatch in my house over the weekend. I heard wings flapping inside and then saw it land on a hanging light fixture in the stairwell. Beautiful little bird. I got him/her to fly back into the garage and out the door safely -- thank god! Love your channel!
You are the Blue Jay Whisperer. I gained new respect for them when I realized they are amazing mimics. I was looking all around for some Red-shouldered hawks after hearing their cry until I realized it was a Blue Jay. I have learned now to tell the difference between a real hawk and a jay. But it still is impressive-
Love your videos! I am amazed at your connection with so many birds. I still can’t figure out how you tell them apart, though. I look forward to your next video.
Your videos are always so relaxing 😌 and amazing, this has influenced me to go buy feeders to see what birds I can attract here in Southern California ❤️
What’s the best way to train the birds to eat from your hand? I just moved to western Quebec and have lots of chickadees, a few Blue Jays, a junco, and some crows I’d like to become friends with.
I enjoy this channel during these days of home confinement, and try to learn the birds in my yard, telling them apart like Lesley does. It's hard! My jays look the same, but they do like my peanuts. Lesley, I would love some hints on how to get them to feed from your hand.
Thanks for such a great share! The birds have gotten to know you as well as you seem to know them. I sure wish some red bellied woodpeckers, Orioles and red headed woodpeckers and some mourning doves would befriend you! I love watching them too!! Beautiful and very calming video!
I always seem to learn bird habits by watching your videos. Yesterday I witnessed a cardinal feeding his mate. Pointed it out to my wife. She was impressed. LOL
Hermoso and Fiona had me worried. Glad you were able to find them. 5:54 - Squirrels are vicious this time of year! There's a tough male squirrel with a few scars (from previous fights, I presume) I call Scrap. He loves blanched almonds and generally doesn't let any other squirrel take "his" almonds... except for this female, Squeak. She's a cute, quiet little fluffball, surprisingly polite & friendly with me and the birds, but when Scrap tries to scare her off, she takes absolutely none of his nonsense. She's the only one he'll back down from!

I have to ask, how do you know who's who? I've been hand-feeding ever since my cramps taught me at 6 and I'm now 60. There was one black cap chickadee who used to follow me around my yard as a child because it knew, no matter the time of the year, I always kept a handful of nuts and seeds in my pocket. Your videos have been wonderful to watch and bring me a lot of joy watching. I now feed my squirrels, and chipmunks as well as keep my feeders full all year round. Unfortunately, it has become expensive since the embargoes with all that is going on in the world. I always worry about the wildlife in war-torn countries and say a prayer to Saint Frances to protect them.
