Sutehk was one of my favourite characters from the classic series...I'm glad he's back especially with Gabriel Woolf's voice ... I love that voice of his. His rendition of Sutehk and the Beast in the Satan's Pit is the excellent.... gives me shivers every time I hear him
If you look at the way Russell T Davies brings back old villains he does them in order of when they appeared in the classic series. The first series had the Daleks as the main villain, the second series had the Cybermen as the main villain, the third series as the Master as the main villain and the 4th series had Davros. And so I suppose it was inevitable that Sutekh would be the main villain which makes it interesting for the next series. Could Mrs Flood be the Rani and the main villain next series and in the third series may he bring back Fenric as the main villain.
Also who is the “obvious” person Kate referred to and Moris said we would get him. I assumed the master but as far as they know master is gone is this a set up for part 2 or maybe season 2
@@StetsonDoctor :D also with Suetkh back and still voice by Gabieral Woolf who is 92 years young. Do you think he will alnihlate the whole universe and the doctor has to reboot everything? how did you think Sutekh got out of his prison?
SPOILER *Why does EVERYONE ASSUME that who (or what) left Ruby at the Church door is/was her Mother?* It's nice to think that. Ruby thinks and wants that. Carla even projects her crying at leaving Ruby in the VHS Time Window playback... Even though she cannot see whether it's a man woman or beast. (The Doctor never states that assumption even back in the first episode the Church on Ruby Road. In this episode he asks Unit for help finding Ruby's Mother. He does NOT say the hooded figure is Ruby's mother. Everyone seems to assume only a Mother would leave a baby at a church door. A Father could be just as caring if the Mother died in childbirth. In the nine episodes with Ncuti and Millie can anyone point to 'actual evidence' that shows the person (or who/what) deposited Ruby at the Church is a woman...much less that it is Ruby's Mother? NO ONE in the penultimate episode could actually see or describe the hooded figure. I sincerely think we've all been carefully led down the garden path...to what we'll find out next week... Or, if unlucky, the next series😢.
Think back to the cold open of "The Church on Ruby Road". IIRC, the Doctor's voiceover says, "As for the mother, she was never seen again. No-one knew her name. Until a time traveller came to call, a traveller known as the Doctor". He doesn't say "the woman". He says "the mother". Implying that the Doctor knows (or thinks he knows) that the woman who left her on the doorstep is indeed her mother. That could be a misdirect, of course; but it is significant
@@ugolomb Good point, I had missed that! I also re-watched the recent Legend episode and found The Doctor following Ruby and Carla's lead who both desperately hope it is the Mother. I just think Carla has encouraged Ruby's belief for so long that we've all come to believe it. AND, I still think it's a misdirect. Can't wait till Friday 4:00 p.m. (California) to hopefully finally get an answer...
I find difficult to believe they'd use Susan *only* as a red herring. Even if she doesn't come up in the next episode, I'll be surprised (and disappointed) if they don't circle back to her in the Christmas special and/or in Season 2
Ruby is Susan and used the thing to make her human and forget she’s a time lord like the doctor done in series 3 with the fob watch. The person who dropped ruby/susan off on Xmas eve is Susan but the original Susan so ostensibly she’s dropping herself off 🤷🏻♂️🙈😂 or something around the lines. Ruby’s mother will be the doctors daughter jenny who is now the kind woman regenerated from original jenny 🤷🏻♂️ either that or original Jenny will return. Just a guess and then what if ruby dies and then regenerates into new companion varada the actress from boom. And similar to capaldi choosing the face of guy from fires if pompeii as a reminder who he is.
"Evil Doctor? Your evil is my good. Wherever I tread I leave nothing but dust and darkness. I find that good." Sutekh just has a slightly different moral perspective than he does.
So, where's 14 then? Yeah, he's 'retired' and whatever else and knows 15 is out there, but you're telling me he just willingly sits by when this massive threat is on Earth? Especially with it being TARDIS centric. come on. No way he just leaves 15 to sort everything himself
Was it superior to Pyramids of Mars? It was a “fast food” version : ultimately unsatisfying having promised a delivery that sadly never lands. The poor quality of the preceding episodes and the agenda driven writing have undermined the hallmarks of excellent Dr Who- characterisation, captivating storytelling and a clear moral compass governed by heart and hope-not nihilism and Political ideology.
More budget yet more factors affecting the writing. This might mean RTD cannot write a brilliant, witty script with less budget, which ruins the charm of Doctor Who…
Gabriel Woolf is 91 and never lost a step

and even more fun fact? Gabieral Woolf is 92!! like, the man still has it.
I love he doesn't sound evil, he actually sounds soft for a demon like character
Loved this, RTD at his best. An absolute shout out to Susan Twist, who has played all the characters she's done perfectly!
Yes, she’s been terrific. A real class act!

The return of Sutekh is crazy, especially since we were getting new stories this season.

thought it was a mark zuckerberg joke tbh
i thought it was 14.
People seem to think it was a gag about Elon Musk. I interpreted it as a gag about the Doctor!

The Zucc or stinky Musk, I felt were implied

Could have been her father Sutekh.

Amazing episode. 10/10. One of the best cliffhangers from the revived era.
To be fair, UNIT HQ is a really cool set! I had so much fun with this story.
Great review
"Evil Doctor? Your evil is my good. Wherever I tread I leave nothing but dust and darkness. I find that good." Sutekh just has a slightly different moral perspective than he does.
Ruby has been placed in this story arc, by her "mother" specifically to deal with Sutehk.

i like to think 14 is on his own adventure maybe on a relaxing planet with Donna keeping him from not doing anything.
Who is the kind woman gonna be? Ruby's mum?
I think so!
Could be… though Russell’s comments in the latest ep of the Official Podcast would suggest something different (maybe?).
I do hope Ruby's Mum isn't just a random woman. That would be so disappointing after all of the build up.
i felt like it was garbage.
This should be on CBeebies, it's a young child's show now, and not a prime time Saturday evening family show anymore. This season has been terrible.
If this last episode was on cbeebied parents would riot. Go back to your fragile men TH-cam channels pal
