The 5 Best: 1. Ncuti Gatwa. His Doctor exceeded all my expectations, and I was blown away by his charisma in Rogue and Joy to the World. 2. Moffat returning. Boom was the standout episode of the season, and featured some of the best written lines of dialogue since Moffat was last showrunner. 3. Murray Gold returning. 15ths theme is one of my all time favourite themes. 4. The return of mystery boxes. The theory crafting surrounding Susan Triad's and Mrs Flood's identities kept me engaged in Doctor Who long after each episode finished airing. 5. Pyramids of Mars and the War Games re-edits. As someone who struggles to get through the original stories, condensing them down into single feature length episodes gave me a renewed appreciation of those stories. The 5 Worst: 1. The 8 episode season length. The fewer episode count contributed towards a more forgettable season. 2. The Empire of Death. What a waste of Sutekh. 3. Ruby's mother. The clues leading to her mother's identity made no sense and were extremely anticlimactic. 4. The ending to 73 Yards. It massively dropped the ball on what was otherwise a standout episode. 5. Having a Beatles episode WITHOUT the Beatles. If you don't have the rights to their music, don't use their music. Also Ringo and George got sidelined hard.
Thank you for your comment. Loved your 5 best and 5 worst list. You are right Murray Gold did have some fantastic themes for the Doctor and Ruby. Overall a good season but not a great season. I do think there was a lot of people finding their feet plus finding that balance of fresh start for a new audience and rewarding loyal fans with continuity. A balance that i have to say is still off. Let's hope the bar has been raised for 2025 😁👍
Paul McGone, Christopher Blink-And-You'll-Miss-Me Ecclescake, David I-Love-Me Tennant, Pratt Smith, Peter Crapaldi, Dozey Whittaker, and Shooty Gateaux! 🤣
Thank you for your comment. I totally agree. I'm glad BBC are embracing and celebrating Classic Who. It's a far cry to how it was 35 plus years ago when it was shunned by the BBC 😢👍
What choice do they have? Nobody is watching the new stuff! The bbc new Who is so awful!! So bad, in fact, I wouldn't even class it as cannon!! Best just pretend it doesn't exist, and wait for grown-ups take over making it, and hope for the best!!
Happy New Year 😁 Best and worst I will have to seperate a little to actual show and the then the stuff surrounding it. Worst for stuff surrounding it is the negativity and toxicity, what happened with Millie Gibson was appalling, I only witnessed TH-cam results as I don't read or watch MSM anymore (far too toxic these days in everything). The whole Doctor Who is 'Woke' and 'dead' crap that is everywhere on TH-cam I usually block the channel involved but they appear in comments on all channels to the point I just try not to read them anymore. Best having Doctor Who content new and old, being able to get figures online which is great for me being stuck indoors most of the time. Worst episode for me was Rogue and even that had good parts but it was just the time period for me (I really dislike it 😂). I actually quite liked space babies sooo.... Best episodes Boom, Dot and Bubble, 73 Yards and I actually really liked Joy to the World. Having more too look forward to in 2025 😊
Thank you for your comment and Happy New Year. Toxic discourse is not going away anytime soon sadly. Best to ignore as best as possible and not waste your time with it. Overall Season One was OK. Not great but certainly not a disaster. Let's hope the bar has been raised for Season Two. It can happen and has been done before. Sylvester McCoy's first and second season as the Doctor is a fine example 😁👍
Wait ... 2024 Doctor Who had a "best?" 🤣 ... Shooty Gateaux WILL be pleased! I heard the Christmas Special was a ratings flop! Paul McGone, Christopher Blink-And-You'll-Miss-Me Ecclescake, David I-Love-Me Tennant, Pratt Smith, Peter Crapaldi, Dozey Whittaker, and Shooty Gateaux! 🤣
@TimeyWimeyReview Well, it was a ratings flop with me, because I didn't watch! But, I did record it in HD, which if played back, looks exactly as it was transmitted. Not like the old VHS days! ... My other favourite programme, Coronation Street, has managed what New Who couldn't. It's run continuously for 64 years, with the SAME theme tune, and it still feels like the same show. Doctor Who has changed beyond recognition, and so, sadly, it's a "no" from me!

The Specials, The Proms and the new series have all been great imho. Looking forward to more from Ncuti Gatwa 2025, Happy new year😊

I was impressed with the amount of classic who we got this year, the bbc is giving us a healthy dose of the classic series.

@@AnotherScifiGuy That's because Classic Who knocks spots off garbage New Who! 🤣
@@davidnorth5798 Agree 110% ... At last, somebody who recognises garbage when he sees it! I'm delighted to read your comment! 👍🤣

I wouldn't say it was a ratings flop. Probably about right with the time it was shown. 7 day metrics will be more interesting 👍👍
