I love this song because it shows a really good bonding moment between Evan and Connors dad, but it also shows how Connors dad perceived the best way in helping his son was just to push through and keep perceiving, and how at the end of the day he didn't understand Connor.
Apparently this is one of the worst ways to break in a glove. The best way is to just use the glove every day until it softens with use. It's still a great song though because ultimately its not about the glove but life itself.
That may be symbolic of how what connor’s dad thought to help his son was actually further pushing him away! It’s probably intentional, but only the people who knows how to break in a glove would fully understand that symbolism! ❤️
I hate how this was cut from the movie ): it's an important bonding moment and makes Words Fail more powerful
Completely agree with you
There's a lot they cut from the movie that they shouldn't have. It's why the stage version of this show will always be superior.
One of the many things that I like about the musical version is that there's not even one song that's not important
The Broadway version IS PHENOMENAL
When the dad comes back from work, at the end of You will be found, in the movie, hits a lot more when you know this song.

Yeah this song is very much underappreciated.
people who hate this song DONT UNDERSTAND I love this song with every fibre of my being
They truly don’t.
I cried during it!
i love how you can tell when it really is about the baseball glove and when it shifts into being about connor
People: they need to cut this song
Me: *sobbing uncontrollably*
Michael Park!
