This song has always brought tears to my eyes. I am not someone who has much friends. And I remember in class (6th grade, years back lol) I made up some friend because my teacher wanted everyone to share a story of a friend. Everytime I hear this song I always think back to that imaginary friend. It's so sad that Evan or Conner never really had a friend like this, Sadly Evan made up his own. Maybe if they got to know each other that could've happened. But Evan ruined it for himself, mostly by making up a lie after Conner's death. But once again he wanted to put Conner's parents at peace. Man Evan's actor always it just so fantastic with his asking! Always give me shivers
I find this Musical heart-wrenching, problematic and endearing all at the same time. When it comes to Dear Evan, I feel so many emotions it's difficult for me to separate them and difficult to think logically. Dislike if you have never in your life told a lie just to make someone like you.
Man I totally get it, I love Evans character but man he reminds me of myself so much. And bro, even two months after watching the musical I still can't decide if he is to blame or not.
@@meatymaggot Jared and Lana are at blame too, because Jared did recommended to Evan to continue lying and Alana put all the emails private to the public and put Evan to the edge.
@@Robert.Lachowski550 I feel like Alana isn't that much in the wrong because she did ask Evan. (I remember her doing that.) But yeah, Jared was dumb for doing that.
@@meatymaggot Alana did put Evan's emails online without Evan's consent, also she did put the "sewslide note" of Connor/Evan in the blog, without Evan's consent and Evan did cry out loud and begged to Alana to delete the post contaning Evan's Letter, she didn't listen and did not respect Evan privacy and opinions on the matter.
Years after I first heard the song, I now realise "yellow fields" sounds more like autumn. Some crops, like rape (the stuff rapeseed/canola is made of) bloom bright yellow, but assuming it was an orchard he thought about a wheat or geass field, which wouldn't be quite yellow in the early summer unless the year was super dry.
i loved the movie when i first saw it cuz i had never seen the actual dear evan hansen musical. but now that i’ve seen the musical the movie sucks in comparison 😂😂😂
That is exactly how I felt about Beauty and the Beast: once I saw the Broadway show I can’t watch the live action. It sucks (except for Dan Stevens, he was the only good part of it)
There is no Sincerely me Reprised, it's only used once. This musical has no reprises. The closest you will get to a Reprise is Waving Through a Window and Words Fail
@@meatymaggot i think they're talking about the one with Jared including himself of being friends with connor by making him sing the song. The one where he's in rehab, and then even says Jared can't judt make stuff up
It meant to show the characters feelings, body languages in musicals is used a lot, it's more important than you think, I think the hand movements are cool 😅
@@meatymaggot i did not question about the hand movement here, i know hand movement are visibler and always used in theatre but like i said if you read my comment why he imitate the original actor's hand movement or body gesture.
@@melonmelonii I understand but I think the hand movements where asked to be preformed, certain body languages are meant to be imitated or told to do the same in certain theaters. That's at least my assumption of his imatation.
And meanwhile, Zoe's sitting off to the side thinking "Jesus, this isn't the Connor I know at all..."

Damn he hit that high note perfectly! Brought a tear to my eye.
Michael Lee Brown is perfect for this role. i admire him more and more and a beautiful voice.
This guy is so good, such a good voice
The songs are so much better with the bits of dialogue in them.😭
Yes they are I wish they would so a live recording
Exactly!
i have always loved Michael's mannerisms so much, they truly make him look so much like an awkward kid
I love when they find the cameras in the audience and then just not stop making eye contact with it 😂
Damn. He is really good!

Wow, very moving.
Thank you so much for these videos. It’s been 10 years since i’ve been able to catch a show on broadway and i really enjoyed watching them here
thanks for posting these videos!!!!!!!
You're welcome. Glad you've enjoyed them.
Luv these videos.

These scenes are so much better done in the broadway version, they didn’t even try to make them funny in the movie ):

I sat down to watch the movie and I was upset. A friend told me to look up the musical and I understand the characters so much more.
Good crowd man
This scene was so awkward in the movie.
The whole movie was akward

Where was Michael Lee Brown in the sequence of Evans on Broadway? Love this video!
Thanks! Michael was the alternate for Evan from 2016 to 2019.
