Stevie saying that Scotland doesn't have the facilities that England does so that's why Scotland isn't producing quality players, well neither does Croatia but they reach WC finals and semi finals, Denmark got to the semi final in the Euros in England, the real issue is that in Scotland most teams are stuck in the past and still play long ball football which means that many young players are getting a very bad football education, until that ends Scotland will continue to stuggle in international competitons.
That's nonsense. There are many factors that contribute, and a lot of the main ones mentioned. Facilities is certainly a problem. Not only are there none in many places, but what was missed on this video is that as Burley mentioned, and it would've applied to Nicol as well - same with Don but he's from England - they played on the street. You can't do that now as almost every house has multiple cars, and a lot of parks are gone to housing estates, as well as being unplayable for most of the winter. That's where all the best talent learned the game - not just in Scotland, but all over. Where are the Hoddles, Waddles, or Gazzas? Same for Scotland - where are the Johnstones, Dalglishes, Baxters, or the Strachans? They don't exist because the ones who do play don't play on the street where 1 v 1s or 2 v 2 take ons used to be common, and players would do a lot of dribbling in smaller spaces. So there's not enough focus on developing the touch and close control that used to be common. Hutchison is right to say they need 5g pitches and floodlights where there is space for lots to play and in all weather. But there are plenty other factors. There's no under 17s, for example. So when it gets to that stage, either they make the step to the 18s or they get discarded, and that usually boils down to physical stature. Many will lose out unfairly because of that, when some of them could've used the 17s level and grown in that year. Then there's the nepotism. Lots of players get their chances because of who their dad knows. While better players get overlooked. We could go on for ages. There's so much wrong from the ground up, and the SFA is supposed to be in charge of it all, but they've done nothing to help over the years.
You have no idea what you’re talking about, do you? For one, Croatia has relative nice weather throughout the year. Scotland? Not so much. The areas have changed a lot around there, as someone already mentioned. Scotland would have to invest into its footballing program as some other countries have previously done (France, Belgium, and even Iceland once upon a time) but it has prioritized other issues in the country.
@@goober776 Croatia have reached two WC semis and one final and regularly do well in tournaments, Scotland can't even get out the group stages, it's not down to having world class players it's having players good enough players to compete at the international level.

Let’s be honest TAA will be only going to Real Madrid for the money, like most players do. Kroos, Rudiger and Alonso all admitted they only joined Real Madrid for money as they are the best payers in European club football. In 2022 Real Madrid had 8 players earning more money than the highest paid players in the EPL. It doesn’t make sense in terms of legacy and football, because the Liverpool team is just as strong as Real Madrid and they have 300 million surplus, a much younger team and more room to grow and Adidas will be paying Liverpool more money than Real Madrid next season because they believe Liverpool is a bigger global brand. Also Real Madrid players get forgotten easily because their fans a spoilt just move onto the next star player. In Liverpool you become a bigger global legend because there are more Liverpool fans globally and they really remember all the players. And you don’t get the unconditional support Liverpool fans give players in Real Madrid. Bale was hated there despite winning them 3 champions league, you don’t give up the Kop for these type of fans. He will get a good contract at Liverpool, don’t ruin your career and legacy by joining a team for money.

@@P.K... you are making the mistake most people make when they confuse success with size globally. Remember Real Madrid only achieve 1/5 of the global average audience of Liverpool. Adidas your German company next season will give Liverpool the biggest kit deal in their history, way above Real Madrid, because they believe Liverpool is a bigger global club than Real Madrid, despite their champions league wins. Also did you read what Apple did? They were going do the broadcast rights for the world club cup, but demanded FIFA add Liverpool for the competition because they believed them and Man Utd have the biggest global fanbases to drive subscribers for Apple. FIFA refused and Apple pulled out of the contract because they don’t believe Real Madrid is a bigger enough global brand and is just marketing. So if corporations believe Liverpool are bigger than Real Madrid, they can’t be nowhere near Real Madrid as you claim. They just manipulate La Liga TV money distribution to give them false wealth to offer salaries no one can offer.
