I learned through books that my aunt and my mom had. They were very old and I don't remember their titles exactly unfortunately 😭. Tarot is a big thing in my mom's family. My aunt gave us all (me, my sisters and cousins) our first decks. I've collected three on my own so far. I practice it by myself and for myself, although I do readings occasionally if a friend or someone asks me to. They have all encouraged me to do a business out of this, but I'm not sure about it. I don't really know if it's because I'm an introvert, or something else, but I always end up so, so tired after readings.
Anyways. I'm so happy for these book recommendations. I know I can trust your advice and I'm so thankful for everything you share with us ❤️
I'm sending you lots of love from Chile!

Hi Carolina! That's awesome that tarot is a big part of your family tradition. Which three decks have you collected so far and which is your favorite?
As to your idea of starting a tarot business, I'm actually working right now on building a course to help readers start their own tarot business and how to handle things like feeling drained from doing too many readings. Here's the link where you can sign up for updates on the course if you're interested. www.arcane-alchemy.com/courses

These are all wonderful, wonderful books but none of them are, imho, "for beginners". They're quite complex books, chock full of complex information. One would need to know the basics -to say the least- to make the most out of these books and also, and very importantly, not get bored.
The most approachable one of the list, I think, is "Tarot Wisdom". My favorite beginners books are "78 degrees of wisdom", by Rachel Pollack, "Tarot, plain and simple", by Anthony Louis, and "The heart of the Tarot" by Sandra Thompson, or "The ultimate guide to Tarot", by Liz Dean.

The Tarot Bible and Kitchen Table Tarot were the first books I found really accessible as a beginner. Since then I have, of course, added quite a few more to my collection. I have to say the Taschen is totally gorgeous and as far as "coffee table" style titles go I also have Iconic Tarot decks and The History of tarot art. They a precious to me, but I love when they pique the interest of friends and visitors. Thank you for your recommendations. I'm off to check out that podcast! 🙌

I recently researched a few tarot books and wanted to settle on just one for now. I'm reading Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Tarot Journey to Self-Awareness by Rachel Pollack. I was surprised at the lack of focus on divination. So far it's all about the metaphorical/mystical meanings of the cards, and what they symbolize about the user. It's a different perspective than I thought I was going for, but I actually am really happy with it so far.

I would go to the library.Pick the books that resonates with you. What might be great for one person might not be all that great for someone else.LLEWELLYN'S complete book of tarot. By Anthony Louis or even better yet Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning one book multipurposes.Get a workbook also to write in ...Youll be set and not have a bunch of extra books you won't refer back to often.Just my advice. .

Is there any books that delineate every symbol of each card? I am looking for a book that breaks it down by : "... This XYZ is a alchemical symbol and placed here for this reason", " this is a hermetic or golden dawn principle and it means this... " I know the tarot is derived from various disciples and feel overwhelmed by it all.

Jumping in a few months later, but I would actually advise you look at any books the artist of the deck may have. Every deck is a little visually different. Some fall into motifs such as the RWS and have a lot written on them. Others are kind of wholly their own imagery and may have a book specific to them (even if it's lwb equivalent).
