After watching it twice i can truly say this music video idea was brilliant. Kind of showing in a sense how fame or money doesnt give you happiness, and how alcoholism and drug abuse can affect someone. I love it.

What I'm gonna say might be pointless or irrelevant -but Ed mentions his dad in quite a lot of songs. For example, in 'runaway', he's like "known it for a long time, daddy wakes up for a drink at night, disappearing all night..." and just explains what kind of man his dad was. And in this video it's an old man, could it possibly represent his dad? I'm not sure though, because it feels like it describes the situation more but the songs have totally different meanings..

He said he wasn't really talking about his dad in runaway, but a friend he used to live with back when he was sofa surfing. He just used "dad" so that that person doesn't know it was about him
