Very nice review, thank you. We had our new e-Niro delivered three weeks ago, and it's a perfect family car. In Norway, it's only sold with the long-range battery, and most people buy the fully spec version. Combining price, range, delivery time, equipment and warranty, it still outperforms any other EV in its class. We're just super satisfied.
Had mine for a year and it has been trouble free. I get what you say about the build quality, or at least some of the materials, but, after being loyal (madly) to the JLR brand for the past 15 years, this is the first new car I have owned that doesn’t have a single rattle. Also, unlike my JLR experience, I don’t know a single member of the service team as I have never needed to visit them. Liked it so much that I have also purchased a plug-in Sorento. Not quite as enamoured as with the e-Niro but it is growing on me. Thanks for the video.
After one year of ownership and 12000 trouble free miles, I think the car is still best in class. I charge overnight at cheap rate electric which equates to a running cost of just about 1 pence/mile. That said ,I have an EV6 on order, which I suspect will be even better. Thanks for the review.
I bought an E Niro in January this year. The main reasons were the excellent range and the 7 year warranty. It is a superb car, I absolutely love it! The range is very accurate, I’m averaging around 5 miles per kW at the moment.
At 4:46 you use both hands and a lot of muscle to tear open the lid covering the cupholders. Don't. The idea is to press the handle down a little bit, and then pull it backwards. It will slide open with ease.
I've had Fiat Uno, Vauxhall Corsa, Skoda Fabia and a VW Golf. The E-Niro is the nicest of the lot. It is nippy when driving about town, it easily has a range of 280, and if you are lucky enough to live in certain areas of Scotland, Charge Place Scotland provide free charging....................... I've done about 7000 miles and spent less than £5.00 charging the car. I'm glad I got one.
Had my e niro since April 2019. it’s been fantastic. Not one problem. over 30000 miles so far. Here’s one thing to think about. You won’t get a second hand version of any of its competitors as they haven’t been out so long ,but you may be able to pick up a second hand one of these now. So if you’re in the second hand market this may be perfect for you. Great quality second hand EVs with fantastic range are what the market is crying out for.
The biggest advantage that the e-Niro has over the rivals that you mentioned (Skoda, Peugeot, MG, ID3) is that it is available in Canada. None of those other cars are here.

A good video . We have the 4 spec e Niro and absolutely love it the range is fantastic I see in the summer with carful driving 300 plus miles on a 100% charge. Considering the car has been out 3 years it’s still in my eyes holds it’s own with any of the current Ev’s around that price point. The only down side for me is one I had to wait 14 months to get it and 2 what do I eventually swap it for the obvious choice would be the EV6 but will cost more and less spec unless you buy the GT Line which will cost considerably more. The sad news is as I’m led to believe the next generation Niro will not include an Ev version. Some of the cars you list as alternatives cost more if you spec them to the level of our car.

Why didnt you ho for a model 3, same price, more range, safer, autopilot, sunroof, charging network, faster, over the air updates, touch screen/controls
@@madm4tty No way. The cheaper model is lower range and lower power than the e-Niro. Only the higher priced model can match/beat the range and power of the e-Niro. ...and still won't be significantly longer range than the e-Niro, but the price will be much higher for that model.

Kia must be having some problems selling the e-Niro in the US. A quick check on Autotrader shows 2020 (!) 'new' models still for sale on dealer lots. Meanwhile over on Volkswagen lots, they sell ID.4's as soon as they hit the lot.
Not sure about 2 week waiting time - I ordered one two weeks ago with expected delivery end of July, and that was only because of a cancelled order. Otherwise, I'd have had to wait till November. I did see one online, but when I phoned the dealer, the car had been sold.

@@esm7708 Yeah, ours is 1 year old now and I hope there'll be a new e-Niro with even greater range by the time we need a new car. (The EV6 is bigger and higher priced and accelerates like a rocket - not something I need)
@@st4849 I've got an 18 month old Ioniq that I lease. I was expecting it to age really badly in terms of range, equipment etc and it really hasn't. The only thing it does badly is fast charge. It certainly runs rings around anything from the PSA group. Although I'm probably going to buy an ev6 next year and keep it long term. Big range, fast charging, loads of equipment and big boot with 7yr/100000mile warranty.
@@esm7708 Well, the issue for me is that the EV6 is bigger, accelerates like a rocket and has very similar range to the e-Niro. I don't need any of these improvements especially not at a higher price point. What I need is a 300+ miles winter motorway range for the e-Niro at the same price point. ...as let's face it, it's 2019 tech and in 2023 I fully expect the same price get me a much better range for the same class of car. It does have a 300 mile range since 2019, just make it a winter+motorway range by 2023.
A full spec Hyundai Kona Electric 64 kWh 2022 is a much better choice if you can live with a bit smaller boot space and a bit smaller space for rear passenger. Full spec Kona Electric 2022 is even cheaper than a basic spec Kia e-Niro here in Sweden. You get more range for the bucks with Kona and the new facelift looks more like an EV if you compare it to e-Niro. Looks even better than e-Niro. The textured piano panel in e-Niro is really bad too. True fingerprint magnet, small scratches will appear over time and it will be more visible when sunlight hits the panel or other light hits it. Kia e-Niro is not a bad car. But a bit too pricey for what you get.
Price is intentionally over inflated! If the eniro 2 spec 34kwh is only £2000 less than the 2 spec 64kwh then the bigger battery only cost £4500 at most total and yet the car cost over £10000 more than its petrol equivalent and that's a hybrid. So "Which" "consumer champion" how long would it take the average person doing 10k Miles a year to get their money back on the over spend?
I priced up an eNiro alongside a couple of similar spec petrol models (trim, performance etc) and with me charging mostly at home (and taking into account insurance, tax and current levels of depreciation), I calculated it should break even at roughly 1.9 years at 10k miles a year.
But if that isn't something that matters, then the eNiro is a partucularly *practical* family car. If you want looks and a touch of design flair, try the Skoda Enyaq..... Also a very practical car. Both brands often do very well in customer satisfaction surveys.
@@Alfredomakanas..0923 even still, looking on my charging map I can see 26 public charging stations within a kilometer of my apartment (for context, I live in a small city far outside the city center). It's really not that difficult to live with an EV

They all take a yawning no of hours on 7kw charging points. We have very few 50KW points. I am sorry but £30,000 for such poor build quality. No way would I buy an electric car here in the UK until we have the infra structure everywhere & they don't take 4-18 hours to charge. All right when at home but not on holiday.
But doesn't that rather depend on just what *appeals*? Not everyone chooses a car based purely on looks. Witness that ugly Toyota CHR thing, or the Fiat Multipla.......
My half price (used) Hyundai Tucson 1.6 petrol can go over 400+ miles per tank and fill up in 5 minutes. Nothing would make me want to spend £40,000+ on an electric car., which simply moves the emissions from the tailpipe to the power plant. Hybrids make much more sense for city and all round driving, best of both worlds. Don't forget governments all encouraged us to go diesel, now they are encouraging electric (even though power supplies are limited). This is another disaster waiting to happen!

Waiting times have gone up!
Since July I think, Red is now standard colour and I believe silver has gone. I was told it’s up to 29 weeks due to some parts production being slowed down.
I really wanted a red one but already ordered the blue 2 long range which I should get in 3 weeks. Ordered it at the end of May. Really excited to drive it. I think it still looks good.
Every time I watch this sort of thing I find myself wondering who spends all this time squeezing their dashboard.
In 'merica we do that sort of thing all of the time. A little pinch will do ya, and off you go. Don't knock it till you try it. JK
"The eniro gets a 7 year warranty, better than any ev on sale."
MG ZS EV and MG 5: "am I a joke to you?"
Look at the fine print. MGs complete warranty is only five years. The extra two years cover much less of the vehicle. Kia's complete warranty is the full seven years.
@@benanderson89 yeah but mg still covers some parts of the car for 7 years

Why don't they have two batteries that you can switch over to and recharge the other battery why moving along the road .

Same, waiting 4-5 months right now.
Just ordered a 4+

So, still quite impressive. But so is the Skoda Enyaq, which is certain to pinch some sales from the eNiro now......
Yeah, but isn't that car in a different price range?
Yeah, that's a beautiful car, but the cheaper option can't quite do what the e-Niro can.
Can the Enyaq match real world range for the same price?
@@madm4tty No way. The cheaper model is lower range and lower power than the e-Niro. Only the higher priced model can match/beat the range and power of the e-Niro. ...and still won't be significantly longer range than the e-Niro, but the price will be much higher for that model.
@@st4849 in the netherlands the e niro 3rd spec is 390 euro's per month against the 550 bare bones skoda enyac. I dont know why but its stupidly cheap

The only thing I don`t like is KIA`s ridiculous 10K mile service intervals for their EVs..... their ICE cars get 20K or so mile intervals.... weird isn`t it... I guess they need to keep those old fashioned ICE dealerships running....
Yes, I suspect it's a "we'll try to keep you busy lads" policy...... There is, after all, much less to service or work on with an electric car....... And they know they've got a ball and chain on you, because if you go elsewhere ( as the law says you're entitled to do, as long as it's a pukka business and they use genuine Kia parts) then you may give them wriggle room to get out of a warranty claim.....
@@Brian-om2hh that`s exactly it... and who`d want to risk losing a 7 year warranty on their brand new car that`s supposed to give you peace of mind for years.... having said all that... I`m awaiting delivery of my eNiro end of this month :D I hope I won`t regret my decision
@@doncsicso81 i got mine in March. Could not be happier and even in today's market do not regret our decision for a second
Unfortunately the bigger screen version does not have a jukebox. Could not transfer my mp3s from usb to system.
Kia must be having some problems selling the e-Niro in the US. A quick check on Autotrader shows 2020 (!) 'new' models still for sale on dealer lots. Meanwhile over on Volkswagen lots, they sell ID.4's as soon as they hit the lot.
How do you use Waze on the E Niro through the smartphone mirroring system?
I use android auto with Waze
What is it like for easy access for someone older?
Wobble in the center column? Seriously?
actually use the nav system more than android lately. not as good at routing but looks way better and has a nice voice lol
Not sure about 2 week waiting time - I ordered one two weeks ago with expected delivery end of July, and that was only because of a cancelled order. Otherwise, I'd have had to wait till November. I did see one online, but when I phoned the dealer, the car had been sold.

The eniro 2 has a very small infotainment screen, not like the one in this video
Why was the Telsa Model 3 not mentioned at all? It starts at £40k and so should have come into the discussion.....
Model 3 fit and finish is notoriously shoddy. I'll fitting doors and paint chipping. Plus the tesla styling is an acquired taste, which I personally haven't acquired.
@@oldrealist9328 you need to get up to speed regarding the Tesla build quality. Whilst it was poor it is now as good as a BMW according to Sandy Munro and many other experts.
Naturally style is subjective, but the Model 3 should not have been left out of the discussion just because some people are not keen on the way it looks.
Given the fantastic efficiency of the Tesla and the Supercharger network, not to mention the quality of the car, it is not acceptable to leave it out of such a discussion.

Smaller old non EV-cars - like Toyota Yaris - has back bench going forward making huge difference to enlarge trunk size.

No mention of Tesla M3 ?
Kia needs to drop the prices by around £4,000 to £5,000 to make it more competitive with the newer and better competitors.
In the netherlands you can lease this car for only 380 euro per month. Thats an amazing price, basicly 200 euro's cheaper than its competitors.

@@Brian-om2hh definitely but I can see the attraction of a second hand Kia over a Tesla.
Yay for physical dials and buttons. ID.3 interior and UX completely sucks.

I don't know why, but I see a Tesla at the front!
Why was the Model 3 never mentioned...? Because it would wipe the floor with the eNiro!
the car doesn't even have KIA's new logo....what to expect from this in 2021 What car?
It has it now
Pity this not a particularly good looking car
But if that isn't something that matters, then the eNiro is a partucularly *practical* family car. If you want looks and a touch of design flair, try the Skoda Enyaq..... Also a very practical car. Both brands often do very well in customer satisfaction surveys.

haha mx 30 info system is crap. test it for 3 days and it sucks
You can't use apple car play, google maps or Waze in Rural Devon eg. Dartmoor or Exmoor no mobile phone signal. You will also find there is very few places for public charging.
2 weeks my ar$e
The looks of this car were already dated from launch. Three years later it looks ancient and unappealing.
Have you been watching the news re how much power is now generated by wind and solar. Your arguments against EVs will very quickly go the same way as the dinasaurs. Sorry, but I'm a very content nearly 300 mile range e-Niro owner.

@@KillilaghChurch12 that is true but it's much cheaper. I'm not against electric cars but people need to get real and recognise this is not a solution if we are concerned with using the world's resources.
