My marimba arrangement of "Undertale" from the game Undertale. Undertale was created by Toby Fox. This arrangement was recorded in the Chapel at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. A big thank you to Trinity for letting me record here, as well as to Toby for making Undertale!

Hey, Doug Perry, I don't know if you are going to read this but if you do I would like you to know that you have helped me pick a very difficult decision, im just a 14 year old boy living in portugal not knowing if he should go to music or agriculture because here you have to pick what you want to do with your life at the age of 14 and you have just clarified this for me so thank you so much for this and i will not forget how my life changed just by watching your video thank you very much good bye.

Yeah if you've not seen the marimba much before, you can DEFINITELY jump in and listen to this, Moon Chasers, Moon, etc. for some nice soothing sounds.

I bought this piece a month ago because I loved it so much, i just had to have it! I'm hoping to be able to learn most of it for my high schools percussion concert at the end of the year. I love playing this so damn much, it's so much fun. And having played it some, I'm even more amazed by the talent you have! Like holy crap man. Send some down line

I am pretty sure you are not actually human, Doug. Not sure what you are. Perhaps some sort of super-evolved post-human designed specifically to play marimba and love Undertale?

listening to this arrangement is what really got me into learning how to play mallet instruments. five months of practice, and now i'm working on 2+1 with a buddy :D (keeping septs in time is suffering). coming back to watch this again, im noticing details that i hadnt seen before and DANG DOUG PERRY THIS IS GODLIKE

I love the small detail of having a toriel plushie in the background, I'm currently very far away from being to play this but its one of my dreams to play it for a judge. Love this solo so much it brings me so much joy 💕

Not a professional marimbist (more of a professional mathemagician/actuary), so...my new goal for any of my recordings is to make sure I've got a cat tank top on... (One of them is a Schrodinger's cat joke, and the other (so far) says "vaguely aware of social norms."
As a real recommendation for video game music performances in the future, though, surely there are Undertale shirts you can get :)

I was looking for marimba solos and duets for my next concert and I was so happy to find this! I love undertale and wanted to listen. It sounds very lovely, but I won't be able to play it (we only have a 4.5-octave marimba and this uses those super low Cs ;-;)

I think I am one of the rare ones who don't know Undertale but still love this. I'm pretty sure that I won't start playing Undertale but the soundtrack is great.
As soon as my marimba is fully grown to 5 octaves I will definitely learn this.

fun fact, at 3:07 he's actually playing in an irrational time signature. For it to equal 4/4 he would have to play one more 16th note quadruplet nested within a quarter note triplet so he's actually playing in 23/24. It's such a small difference though that it's hard to perceive as anything other than 4/4
Actually, I was trying to keep the time signature in 4 here! I never really felt settled on how I wanted to write it out, but it's essentially 11:2 for the last two beats of the measure

I love this arrangement so much! I've devoted a lot of time into it and I would recommend it to any budding mallet percussionist! I would love some mallet recommendations though as I don't have a whole lot of experience choosing the proper mallets for ensembles. Thanks a bunch!
