    Nice plugin. And yes, Retrospective recording is amazing, once you discover it you can't live without it. Akai MPC Key 61 also have Retrospective recording as standalone keyboard, it records Midi, Audio - even the changes you make on your synths on the go, records absolutely everything, and you have endless undo's. Love it.

    This is super handy, thanks for sharing! Didn't know this existed. I often start composing something on my old Roland Fantom X8, since it has 40 second 'skip back sampling' which means it's constantly recording the last 40 seconds going through it. That's normally enough to have captured an unexpected moment. This is obviously a lot better though.

      Retrospective recording exist in a lot of DAWs these days, and in some hardware too, but this works much better in my opinion and why I installed it on my computers. Cheers

    Nice! Thanks for pointing this out! I love Ableton Lives midi retro recording and I've always wished to have it in Reaper and for audio, too. In other words, this seems to be exactly what I've always wanted. 😀

      The one in Ableton Live is fantastic. What's best is that I will match the global tempo of the project to your recording. So you can just jam until you come up with something you like, and if you decide to loop what you captured, the matched tempo will make it loop perfectly

      @@sasarasa88 Yep, love it. Unfortunately, I also love that every track in Reaper can handle audio and midi.

    There is a lot to like when it comes to that tool, I say. Sure, Cubase comes with a feature that works … but Rewind is just so, so handy. And the improvements that come with the recently updated version are clever and helpful - just like the tool itself. The most beautiful thing about it, at least in my opinion, is exactly this: when using it as an autostart application, everything is ready to go the moment the computer is up and running, almost like "set and forget". No need to bring up the DAW or anything else, just the basics. When looking for a mostly distractionless environment when starting to jam or something that is almost instantly available (and listening) when there is an idea that has to be captured, Rewind can really save the day. After a just a couple of weeks I tend to say that it sure is worth at least a serious try.

    Interesting product. We already have retrospective MIDI recording in the major DAWs (at least in Logic but I imagine there is the same thing Cubase and many others) but we don't have the audio equivalent. But what about its CPU inprint when it's loaded and running in the background? I mean in order to record the audio of a virtual plugin instrument it has to load it.

    • @EspenKraft
      @EspenKraft  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your DAW will have to load your plugins yes, unless they're standalone plugins. On my systems Rewind takes up very little CPU power. I'd say next to nothing.

    Heads up, the newest update of Rewind needs to access your entire screen and audio recording on OSX. It didnt before this last update. First thing you wonder is why an audio capture software is recording my entire screen when in use? And why does it no longer fully close when i quit the app but leaves the app running in my task bar where i can see the screen recording still going. Thank goodness for OSX not letting that stuff just unknowingly fly.

    this looks especially good for a modular setup. With complex patches the slightest tweak here and there can mess up a honed in sweet spot. More than once I had things set up and went to record and accidently hit a knob or thought I would get cute and make a small adjustment and the magic was gone, sometimes even pulling out a cable and plugging back in can cause things to be different.

      Exactly. Good point.

    Interesting little plugin package. Not really for me though since I already have ways of doing these things without the need to put down any money plus the features that already come standard in my DAW of choice.
    Granted, my workflow is different since I don't rely on external hardware aside from a 61 key MIDI controller.
