      Don’t watch. The documentary falsified a lot and left out actual facts such as Belichick was obeying the rulebook on sideline videotaping and Goodell refused to admit he was wrong. The Hernandez stuff is useless, the Butler stuff is useless, pretty much the entire enterprise is useless

    I enjoyed this series overall, great behind the scenes footage and all the highs and lows. To me, the best one was "Spygate" because it shows the players rallying around their embattled coach. As painful as it is to relive that loss to the Giants, you have to celebrate that team as probably the best of all time. The montage of "Another One Bites The Dust" shows Belichick in the locker room almost in awe of the team he put together.

    Belichick benched a CB1 in a Super Bowl 52 and we lost it. Belichick's ego was more important than the team in spite of his rhetoric that he's always about the team. Belichick is a great coach but he is too old school and I'm glad he's gone. Brady was the glue that made the locker room work.

    Philly Eagles fan here. It is so apparent Belichick was so mad at Brady going to Kraft to stop Belichick from trading him and Kraft stopped said action, he threw the game to the Eagles by benching Butler at the last minute so Kraft could not stop the benching. Tom tried his best to score points, but the Eagles threw another curve starting Foles who outduelled Brady working on the defenders that replaced Butler. Also, the Pats win even without Butler if the injured Carson Wentz had started. Belichick cost The Eagles the game with Super Bowl 39 with Spygate. The Eagles hot payback. The c Pats and Belichick didn't know Foles would be so good thst day.

      Couple things there eagles fan:
      A. Brady had over 500 yards, 3 TDS, zero turnovers…. Foles didn’t “outduel” shit…..and wentz wouldn’t have either
      B. Carson wentz sucks/sucked ass
      C. Patriots had the better defense AND offense that game, Eagles won cuz they had a much better run game and were able to keep Pats offense on the bench, kill the clock, and got lucky on a silly trick play.
      Look at the box score for my evidence…..

    • @knight6

      @@gregpellegrin6978A. Brandon Graham sacked Brady and forced a fumble that Derrick Barnett recovered. Fumbles are turnovers and that allowed the Eagles to eat up the clock and get a FG to have an 8 point lead.
      B. Wentz had an MVP caliber season before his injury. Big reason why Eagles got home field advantage.
      C. Giving up 41 points is worse than giving up 33, so the Eagles defense played better than the Patriots.

In the aftermath, it was found that Castille was stopped over 60 times by the police while going to work at a local school. But sure, the NFL players were the ones in the wrong for protesting killings like that.

The courts found in Brady's favor on the facts, it was only after the league pulled the " we're private and can do whatever we want" crap that let them punish him. I would want to talk about how unprofessional the refs and colts were and then acting like it shouldn't matter. • @razorbeard6970

      As a Head Coach, it is true that no other teams would want to hire Belichick after the quick resignation from the Jets. Even if someone else did, the only way the Pats were able to work out that deal was in secret so any other offer would have been rejected. Why would a team offer if they didn't know he was available?
      The Patriots discussions with Belichick were pretty slick even if they eventually had to pay the Jets back for it.

    Impressive interview. I will read the book. Clearly this is a story worth telling and reading/watching. In my estimation the decision Belichick made on replacing Bledsoe with Brady is not emphasized enough. Where would all of these characters be today if this decision were reversed? Would there be a dynasty? Probably not. Every team in the NFL had taken a hard pass on Brady. Yet Bill has the stones to usurp the owner's wishes (putting his entire career on the line) and start Brady which begins the ascent of the one of the great dynasties in American sports history. It's more plausible that Brady is an insurance agent in Encino than considered the "GOAT". As a life-long Boston/ NE Patriots fan, "thank you Bill!"

    There is no mystery as to why Malcolm Butler was benched for Super Bowl LII vs Philadelphia. Bill Belichick explained it as succinctly as possible: it gave the Patriots the best chance to win, in Belichick's estimation.
    Starting the stronger and faster Eric Rowe (6' 1" 205 lbs) over the weaker and slower Malcolm Butler (5' 11" 190 lbs) was designed to keep Philly from spending the entire game running the ball down New England's collective throat and thus keeping Tom Brady on the bench. You know, kinda like how the Giants kept Jim Kelly on the bench in Super Bowl XXV. And at 38-33, the game plan had worked at giving the Patriots a chance to win. (at that point in the 4th quarter of the NFC Championship Game, what were Minnesota's chances?)
    Tiny things determine championships. Prior to beating the Rams 13-3 in SB LIII, the Patriots have never ended a Super Bowl in regulation with more than a 4-point lead. Every win was close. Every decision magnified.
    Coaches look at film and see what match-ups are favorable and which are bad for their team. Then they put together a game plan accordingly. The Butler match-up vs Philly was bad. He got burned for both of Tennessee's TDs in the Divisional Playoffs. He got pushed around like a school girl vs Jacksonville. So Belichick gave starting reps leading up to the Super Bowl to Rowe. Why? Because Belichick felt that gave New England the best chance to win.
    Belichick has never been afraid to ignore convention in putting together a defensive game plan. Before SB XXV vs Buffalo, Belichick told his Giants defense that, in order to have a chance to win, Thurman Thomas had to rush for over 100 yards. This was so that Jim Kelly wouldn't shred the Giants through the air. So Belichick started TWO defensive linemen to entice Buffalo to run the ball. It worked.
    In 2017, the Eagles had the ability to pound teams with the running game. They had the #3 rushing offense in the NFL. Defensively, New England was #22 in yards-per-pass-attempt. Not good. But they were #31 defensively in yards-per-carry. Belichick knew he had to entice Philly to throw instead of run, otherwise Tom Brady would've spent the entire game on the sidelines watching the Eagles run and run and run and run.
    Hence, Belichick put Butler (190 lbs.) on the bench, moved nickel Eric Rowe (205 lbs.) outside, replacing Butler, and put SS Patrick Chung (215 lb.) at nickel. Belichick had to pick his poison, and he chose to force the Eagles to beat them with their back-up (Foles) QB throwing the ball. Did it work? Nope. But it almost worked. It certainly kept New England in the game. They were right in it until late. His scheme vs the Bills was a Scott Norwood FG away from failing too. A razor-thin difference in both cases.
    But just as in SB XXV, Belichick went with the game plan that he thought gave his team the best chance to win. That's why Butler sat.

    • @msp5138
      @msp5138 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      What you wrote makes ZERO sense.
      Butler didn't not play the entire game, so obviously there was something more going on.
      Btw, the Eagles scored 41 points in the game;
      Which also make your comment utter nonsense.

    • @treborheminway3814
      @treborheminway3814 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Maybe he actually does think that going into the game, but by the 2nd half, all could see that wasn't working. They had over five hundred yards of offense and lost. Some defensive genius. Brady never forgave him for that game decision and supported butler on social media.

Maybe he could have or maybe they would have lost by a larger margin. We will never know......

    If there were any actual journalists around at the time digging for facts (someone like Will McDonough), we all might know what happened with Butler. But everyone's a commentator / windbag these days.

    • @Karnakthemagnificent

      Oh - nice play putting politics into a sports program. But for the record, Biden served as a VP for a black President, he chose a black woman VP, a black Sec Def, people of color all over his administration. The GOP on the other hand, is full of crazy moms hiding behind the cross while whispering hate. The MAGA embrace of extremist ideas like replacement theory and their toxic spewing about immigrants is antithetical to traditional American values. The red hatted cult's best defense for this bigotry is to insulate against shame, make vice a virtue, and accuse others of their sins. So there you are, making your worse self known on a sports program. Bravo - lean into it so there is no mistaking who you are.
      How about an injection of truth? The truth is, Trump was sued for discriminating against blacks in NYC rentals, he called for the execution of the innocent black teenagers accused of assaulting a white woman. Trump's litany of bigotry is too long to chronicle in anything less than an encyclopedia. But sure, Biden is the one who is disrespectful to people of color.
