Obviously, they have more than a level of general respect amongst themselves. After 20yrs I'm sure they have a bond beyond football.
I binge watched the whole documentary the last 2 days and it's among the best pieces of sports storytelling ever written where every main character is incredibly compelling. My main takeaway is a quote from the very First episode that said: "Players WORKED for Belichick and PLAYED for Tom" That is everything
People criticize Tom for that last Patriots Super Bowl he was going against Aaron Donald and Suh as well as a bunch of other veteran studs! He didn't play great I'm a Brady apologist but I can admit that but he did what he had to do to win the game. However that Patriot defense that won them the Super Bowl easily could have lost them the game against Mahomes but Brady went score for score with Patrick to get them to that Super Bowl that the defense won for them So you don't take away anything from Brady or the defense because it's a team game and sometimes your balanced and when and sometimes one carries the other.

Snookered is a term from the billiards game, Snooker. Which more or less means that you have given your opponent a nearly impossible shot to make, by hiding the object ball from the cue ball, by placing another ball between the two. So your opponent has no safe way to take a shot at the object ball straight on. Essentially forcing them to take a safer shot, that has a much higher chance of leaving you with an easy straight shot and an opportunity to make multiple shots in a row.

Great stuff. Under the helmet way and behind the scenes. Colin rip a page out of the book of Tom's professional excellence and put the mic up to your mouth ;-)
Insightful. If you want excellence you have to push it to the limit. TB12 gave his heart and soul. And it’s only fair to expect everyone to do the same. I will say this. He didn’t retire because he couldn’t play. He retired because the divorce was hurtful. What I wish? That TB12 heals and comes back for 8 then retire. Not even Jordan could do that. I would give anything to see that happen. I very much appreciate the impact he’s had for the sport and in New England.
Tom is my familys hero he gave us so many great memories. You cannot be as passionate as Tom and be disengenious. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he cares about people. He played so well because Bill was like his dad and Toms neverending goal was his approval. Bill used that and never gave it to him. In Bills mind Toms feelings were the cost of Victory. Its all over now Bill tell Tom what he really meant to you. Dont you owe him that much.
Recently Robert Kraft himself stated that it was personal only by coach Bill Belichick! Note it's the reason they did not win as first ever 3 SB wins in a row (and 4 out 5) along with Tom Brady trying to comeback passing for over 500 yards from that awful defense that went against Philly that game. Bill owed him a great defense against the Rams the next year. By the way one disagreement with the author is Tom's worst Super Bowl was the second one with the Giants where he spotted them 9 Points at the beginning of the game with an errand 2 Pt safety and subsequent touchdown due to the great field position he put them in. Other than that the Super Bowl trophy should be named after Tom Brady for what he has down for the game!
Bill was tough Very arrogant He cost them the philly game Never even explained his reasoning Hope he coached his last game really Take the six and run bill
I can kind of see it from Belichick's POV. The benching was proven to be a wrong decision because they lost, nothing he says can change that. There is no rationalization he can give be it performance, scheme, I don't like his swag, etc is going to make him look better. So just keeping quiet and taking his licks is the least bad scenario.
The 2017 pats team was actually the best team of the 2010s they had. They shoulda won that game vs the eagle. I didn’t like how the doc made Bill look like a bad guy. But he is the reason that Tom left. Kraft shoulda moved on from Bill after 2019.
Bill Belichick not explaining Butler’s benching & Pete Carroll not explaining that passing on 2nd down maximizes the number of plays they has to get in the end zone alienated players who felt they had a right to know why those decisions were made. IMHO they did have a right to know.
Do basically the video basically blames Belicheck; but doesn’t give him any credit 😂? Ridiculous. I guess Brady played defense too? He coached? No the owner coached? 😂
i read the book, and I thought it was good and balanced. Comments I get about the film sound a lot different than the book which sounds like a trashing of the Patriots.
I have an idea…what if a person answered the question and not go off on a long talk of maybe related stuff..but not at all an answer to the question? Colin stated his opinion on Belichek and asked if the guy agreed and the guy can’t/won’t respond. That’s when i shut off the channel
Hard to know what Bill knew about Aaron Hernandez before drafting him. I've see reports that some other teams removed Hernandez from their draft boards because of what they knew about him.
Bill was always a "bottom fisher" in the draft. Always looking for a player that was discounted by other teams for some reason that he could get with a lower pick than his value. Gronk was underestimated by other teams because he was injured most of his college career. But Bill had a vision of two tight ends who could block and catch. He then could have an offense that could block heavy with a running game, including his usual full back, or they could pass. Keeps defenses on edge. Many teams now are still trying to emulate it, but its hard to find two good TE's that can block and catch. Belichick was a genius, but he never appreciated how much Brady made his system work.
Belichick intentionally benched Butler to prove a point. Belichick benched him to show everyone that he has power. Belichick intentionally threw the Super Bowl.
Can’t believe Kraft kept Bill over that Super Bowl win. Yes the defense played great all year but with that talent who wouldn’t. Stephon Gilmore was defensive player of the year.
The 2017 Patriots had an atrocious defense. They were terrible with Malcolm Butler playing 97% of the snaps. I can't believe this is still a thing. The Eagles were missing their QB1, all pro OT, and starting MLB, by the way.
I heard years ago that it was because Butler had a bad argument with a defensive coach the week of the Super Bowl and BB thought to teach him to be respectful and to discipline him he sat him for the SB, could be wrong but it’s what I heard
Even wilder, is Malcolm played 1 snap on special teams in Superbowl 52, confusing the matter further, as he was not even fully benched. Most seem to not even realize that he played that one snap either - boggles the mind everytime
I head what he’s saying about Aaron Hernandez situation, but you gotta admit when a guy is saying weird things in practice, he’s in flip flops, he’s asking to be traded to the west coast that s o m t h i n g was up.

I always enjoy having Ric Bucher on
Recently Robert Kraft himself stated that it was personal only by coach Bill Belichick!
I guess you forgot Bill slowed the greatest show on turf too lol
Same can be said about the San Antonio Spurs.
What about Ernie Adams? he was key to the dynasty.
Bill was tough
Very arrogant
He cost them the philly game
Never even explained his reasoning
Hope he coached his last game really
Take the six and run bill
If Bill cost them the Philly game are we going to say Tom choked against the giants 2x?
I can kind of see it from Belichick's POV. The benching was proven to be a wrong decision because they lost, nothing he says can change that. There is no rationalization he can give be it performance, scheme, I don't like his swag, etc is going to make him look better. So just keeping quiet and taking his licks is the least bad scenario.
The 2017 pats team was actually the best team of the 2010s they had. They shoulda won that game vs the eagle. I didn’t like how the doc made Bill look like a bad guy. But he is the reason that Tom left. Kraft shoulda moved on from Bill after 2019.
Fantastic interview and segment. TB12 is the forever goat. Argue with a rock.
And people will still find any reason to hate on the goat.
Tom put the Giz in Gisele
Bill Belichick not explaining Butler’s benching & Pete Carroll not explaining that passing on 2nd down maximizes the number of plays they has to get in the end zone alienated players who felt they had a right to know why those decisions were made. IMHO they did have a right to know.
Edelman's long form podcasts "Games with Names" blows away the notion that Belichick wasn't fundamental to the success of the team.
Do basically the video basically blames Belicheck; but doesn’t give him any credit 😂?
Ridiculous. I guess Brady played defense too? He coached? No the owner coached? 😂
Once again, Gregg Popovich was among the first to start employing the 3 point shot
WTF?
i read the book, and I thought it was good and balanced. Comments I get about the film sound a lot different than the book which sounds like a trashing of the Patriots.
Uncle 😊
I have an idea…what if a person answered the question
and not go off on a long talk of maybe related stuff..but not at all an answer to the question?
Schnookered?!?
All that “accountability” but none of it seemed to apply to Aaron Hernandez. Bill would destroy Tom Brady but not say a word to Hernandez.
Cost Patriots a Superbowl and could have a three peat.
What does “schmuckert” mean?
Belichick intentionally benched Butler to prove a point. Belichick benched him to show everyone that he has power. Belichick intentionally threw the Super Bowl.
This is sports talk radio.
Can’t believe Kraft kept Bill over that Super Bowl win. Yes the defense played great all year but with that talent who wouldn’t. Stephon Gilmore was defensive player of the year.
The cowboys wouldn’t , and 31 other teams
No one thought much of Gilmore till Belichick plucked him off of Buffalo and made him a star.
Yeah won the SB the next year so wasn’t worth it 🤣 maybe if Brady didn’t throw a pick we would’ve beat eagles too
The 2017 Patriots had an atrocious defense. They were terrible with Malcolm Butler playing 97% of the snaps. I can't believe this is still a thing. The Eagles were missing their QB1, all pro OT, and starting MLB, by the way.
So I guess Bellichek will take the Butler benching reason to his grave? No one can figure this out???
The strange thing is Belichick brought back Butler last year.
Why did BB bench Butler in the SB?
@@3crowns21because he was awful in the playoffs that year
@@3crowns21we probably will never find out. Belichick is taking that one to the grave.
Jeff is sooooo much smarter than Colin. It's not even close.
We all know Brady played better mad, do people not think Bill Belichek is smart enough to figure that out?
Man ….. nobody knows why ….
lol this guy is a glorified Robert Kraft employee
He’s not the best player but he’s the greatest player to play QB.
When Brady left and won a Super Bowl is when Kraft realized he made the wrong move
he is wrong, the Patriots were two seperate dynasties. A Dynasty doesnt take a decade off
People forget Brady fumbled in biggest moment in the Eagles Superbowl. Bradys blunder is what sealed the victory for the Eagles
Pop didnt want to shoot threes but he did it in 2013 and 2014
Bill might admit he’s wrong not working as the patriots head coach but this documentary was being shot while he was still head coach
Bill threw the game to punish Kraft
BB is under 500 without Brady
Chiefs already ahead of pace
Butler or no Butler Eagles winning that game, no matter what stop trying to throw shade on us and give us our respect
My book would be called "Why Belichick is Not a genius"
Once Bill started hiring family members, it said much. And Tom leaving. If owner I fire Bill keep Tom.
I head what he’s saying about Aaron Hernandez situation, but you gotta admit when a guy is saying weird things in practice, he’s in flip flops, he’s asking to be traded to the west coast that s o m t h i n g was up.
