BMW with the good old locking transmission
How do they not know how to put the car in neutral? You literally push the gear selector up and hold the unlock button with the ignition on and it will put the car in neutral.
It might be an electronic handbrake. It comes on automatically in some situations, including opening a door. Sometimes if the engine or electronics then die, it can't be released again without servicing it.
@@Mike_221BMW in their infinite wisdom made their recent auto box controls entirely electronic and to add to the fun you can't put the gearbox in neutral anyway unless the engine is running. No, me neither. Apparently its a "safety" feature and the only way to engage neutral if the electronics are fried and/or the engine won't start is some pin in the side of the transmission underneath the car. The method you mentioned doesn't work in the latest models.
@@neilrobertson811 There’s a tool in the car to put it in neutral. There’s a slot somewhere near the gear selector to put it in to get the car in neutral.
@@neilrobertson811 Incorrect. You can put all models into neutral without the engine running. Even the new ones with the little flip switch gear selectors. Why would a car company design a car where you can only put it into neutral with the engine running. Say what you want about BMW engineers, but they're not that stupid. The only time you need to use the mechanical release under the body is when you have a dead battery.
Eg. here's a copy paste from a 2024 manual.
Electronic unlocking of the
transmission lock
General information
Unlock the transmission lock electronically, e.g., to maneuver the vehicle out of a
hazardous area in the event of a malfunction.
Before unlocking the transmission lock, secure
the vehicle against rolling away, for instance
with a wheel chock.
Engaging selector lever position N
1. Quickly press the Start/Stop button three
times without stepping on the brake.
2. Depress the brake pedal.
3. Press the selector lever to position N.
An appropriate Check Control message is
displayed.
Position N is indicated on the selector lever.
4. Maneuver the vehicle from the hazardous
area and secure it against rolling away.
Midlifecrisis' Paugeot 107 is outstanding! A command performance! Great video, Tom!
His wheel bearings won’t be! 😂
In the BMW X5: no fool like an old fool.
You would think with that many years on earth he would have learned something...
It was X3...
@@Vitaliyak Thank you. I did not look at the liftgate and assumed it was was an X5.
That's a lot of steam at 5:00! Either the Mercedes was doing track driving or the driver's a two-pedal moron, constantly accelerating and braking. You guess.
Could have binding breaks. Either way the thermal shock won't have done the disks or pads any favours.
True. Some people don't care about their cars at all.
I swear that red vauxhall with the GT stripe is Tom's modified waterproof bait car "see, I got through, you have a go"
What Vauxhall ?
It's a Peugeot and Midlifecrisis101x drives it
The air intake of a 107 is on top of the engine, right under the top of the bonnet so they never get flooded - so far anyway!🎉
@@davids81999Which is where any sane manufacturer should put them but for [reasons] don't.
That’s not mine lol
The X5 obviously didn't make it as the plates are now on an Audi
X3.
Cracking video quality! 👍
i love your video ❤❤❤tom❤❤❤❤
Why would anyone take a small car through that? It literally does not make sense
they walk among us
It's not what you drive through, it's how you drive through.
@@IntoTheWhite04 😂
To get to the other side.
@@trainman665 would insurance cover if you drowned your small car crossing such bodies of water? They where not really designed for water crossings like a 4x4 would
Peugeot 107s are unbreakable. Toyota engine.
nothing to do with it. more likely to do with air intake being quite high..
looking at images the 107 is fairly tall for a little car and the intake is high and toward the back of the engine bay - quite a bit higher than the grill.. surprisingly so... I would go as far as say this series is one of the least likely to suffer engine damage due to ford/flood...
Toyota has nothing to do with it. They have a relatively high air intake.
Very true, I used to drive one@@trainman665
The 107/Aygo/C1's all have the same Toyota engine in them, which is why they all do well in deep water as its got a high intake position.
The newer 108 was also a 1L Toyota engine but have been discontinued and Peugeot's parent company have bought out Fiat, so any new Peugeot city car will possibly be a Fiat engine, if they don't just make a copy of the Fiat 500 E/V
Looks like these are just as deadly as rufford ford
I'm Brazilian, is this some kind of joke you guys play? I wanted to understand why they crossed this flooded stretch.
Thanks.
After heavy rainfall the roads can flood. Either the alternative route is very long, or doesn't exist at all. Some drivers don't understand how to drive through properly and that cars and water don't mix well. It's mostly about the height of your air intake
That c class will have some warped discs
107 was creating a magnificent bow wave before stopping to chat.
1:27 gti for the win
Is the red peugeot yours? any changes to the air intake?
It’s not mine
Factory Toyota engine, got a high level intake.
5:00 hot brakes
😭😭
But, why fail the X3? Should pass normaly 50cm deep water without problem.
the focus did it right, slow down behind the bow wave
I rarely seen mazda and hyundai here i want really know for my consideration
Anyone who knows the first gen 107/C1/Aygo’s will know that they’ll most likely have more water inside the foot wells or boot then the engine. Factory Toyota engine designed with a high air intake for people wondering how this 107 made it through.
Avete delle automobili...... non delle barche...!! 😅😅😅😅😅
German car just touch the water and they are for scrap
How come Citroën cars are much better dealing with water like here than Peugeot or Renault....this is not the first time they survive but the others give up, the German makes cannot be included as they gave up first hurdle..
I'm 2nd
Spare?
i dont get it... JUST BUILD A BRIDGE!
Which costs way more money! Something the councils don't have! They can't even afford fill the pot holes in.
Bridges also have to be inspected and maintained, which also costs way more money than a ford crossing.
Uk suck at building bridges
To get stuck with x5 you really have to be plunker
It’s a X3
