  • Hello, and welcome back to the channel everyone! In my last roadster update, I brought up the idea of running “Bomber” Seats in the ‘29 Model A. And, well…that idea was met with some mixed feelings from all of you. So, this week I’ve gotten out some paper, and a straight edge, and I’ve drawn myself up a set of patterns. And only one question remains; should I make these patterns into a pair of seats for The Crazy Casey Roadster project?
    I mean…if you all have strong feelings, stop me now while I’ve only wasted some neon-green paperboard and a couple of hours time. 😊
    I hope you all enjoy this week’s episode! Please don’t forget to hit that “LIKE” button, and “SUBSCRIBE” to the channel and hit that notification bell if you like what you see, and want to see more videos like this every single week! Also, hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you think of this video, about the project on a whole, and to tell me what YOU want to see more of in future videos.
    To see more of this project, find me on Instagram via @Rev_Casey_James and follow the hashtag #TheCrazyCaseyRoadster.

    Thanks for sharing, Casey! My vote? Do it! If you build it, they will come....or something like that! Bomber seats and roadsters go together like toast & jam! Enjoy your wine? Be safe!

    Wine in the garage? Oh yes! We have been road tripping to Italy many times and always fill the car. Sadly I'm not drinking wine in the garage. Mostly beer, coffee or single malt. I'll be drinking wine next time. 😁 I have beefed up a cheap bead roller too and they work great. BTW, bomber seat in the roadster is the cherry on top of the cheesecake.

      With wine in the garage, I am channeling my inner Enzo, Martin. Also, out of all of these choices, wine goes best with cheesecake!

    Go for it.. bomber seats always look cool and would be interesting to see how they come together. Also definitely not rat rod.

      Thanks, @@748rum. It’s just something I cooked up. I actually have a really nice logo that an artist made for me, that I’m getting ready to unveil on TH-cam here shortly. If you’re on Instagram, I posted it there a couple of days ago. Thinking of making some t-shirts.

    Keep the rust out of it and it wont be a rat [ratty] rod.
    Go with your heart and live the dream! [you're already doing that, hehe]
    Hell yeah, build that seat! You'll get more "seat time" on those tools and improve your skills.

    I don't know how this "rat rod" garbage started but when people look at traditionally built cars the first thing they say is "look at that rat rod". When all the service men came back home they didn't have a lot of money to pour into their cars, so the easiest and cheapest thing to find was military surplused equipment. My father once told me he found an entire wing off a Japanese Zero in a scrap pile while rummaging for parts! With that said a bomber seat is not rat rod its traditional that the rat rodders have taken from traditional builds in the past! Can't wait to see how it turns out! Keep up the great work!

    Yeah, do it. Harbor freight beadroller works fine,after you have beefed it up. I did mine yrs ago and it has served me good. I welded an U-beams on the opposite side where the axles are on the jaws and connected them with and another U-beam , what is upright position, near the crank. I also made an stand for that. I think beefing up the beadroller video might be something that ppl want to see, even if they are not into hot rods. Keep it up!

    • @crazycaseyscustoms
      @crazycaseyscustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I wonder if what you are calling “U-beams” I would call “C-channel”? Three sided rectangular stock? I’m not familiar with your terminology. I was thinking of using angle iron to make a pyramid shape on the backside, and then tying the two long runs together with a third piece of angle cut to fit in between. Lot of weld surface to be had, and triangles, in general, are very strong. May or may not make sense how I’m describing it…
      Thanks Again!

    • @1fknhpycmpr355
      @1fknhpycmpr355 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@crazycaseyscustoms Well, i guess C-channel is right term for those. I live i Finland and i thought those were called beams too, sorry about that. I "boxed" the beadroller frame with the c-channels, pretty much same way than you planned to do with angle iron, but i think C-channel is more sturdier than the angle iron would be. It became pretty heavy after the beefig up process, so the stand was needed for it. There was few good threads about this subject on hamb too.

    • @crazycaseyscustoms
      @crazycaseyscustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s probably just a colloquialism based on our respective homes,@@1fknhpycmpr355. Channel/Beam seem to be interchangeable terms; in construction it’s called a beam, and in a metal shop it’s probably referred to as channel. I’m not sure if one is more “correct” than the other. What is sold most readily at our local metal supplies is the C, whereas the U is more finished in the inside corners and probably somewhat less structural…I had to Google as I’ve never actually come across it, “in the wild”. Anyway, I learned something new today, so thank you for that. 😊
      I have seen people merely weld flat plate to the back of the bead roller frame, making a “tee”, and it seems that the rollers were sufficiently reinforced, so I’m sure either method using channel/tubing/beam will be more than adequate. I appreciate the tip on the weight…I am anticipating having to build some type of stand. Oh, and I have checked out some of the HAMB threads you mentioned, too. 👍🏼

      @@crazycaseyscustoms Whats your username on hamb? I think i have some pics of my beadroller there, if you like to, i can share pics of that thing. I went kind of crazy with the reinforcements, so it could have worked fine with less reinforement metal, but the stand makes it easier to operate, but i guess it works fine as a table model too, if you have a good vise

    Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Casey. I’m sure it will look awesome! Frank likely isn’t responding because he can no longer hear his phone after all those rivets! BTW, wasn’t “art car” more of the concern? Go for it - it’ll be fine!

    • @crazycaseyscustoms
      @crazycaseyscustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well…”art car”, and “rat rod” kinda go hand in hand, right!? I’m sure it will be fine. Half of the “debate” is to create engagement. And I’ll be sure to wear my PPE when I’m hammering away. I’m more worried about my arthritis than my tinnitus, but hepatitis and colitis are more likely threats, because I do enjoy a beverage every now and again. 😂 I hope you’re having a great week Dave!

      A roll bar probably wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I want to avoid adding one as long as I can, Ron. We’ll see if I ever actually even enter the thing in any kind of race…
      The Morris Bros car ran one, and the Williams Bros car did not. Something to ponder, anyway. I do like my noggin.

      I have not gotten to the stops yet, Ollin. My seat riser is in REALLY bad shape, and that’s what’s been holding that part up. The lid is all body worked and primed (fits much better in the corners now), but I’m afraid I can’t be much help on the seat riser/stops…yet. 😊
