One of my best decisions I ever made was talking my brother in law into going down to the Spectrum in Philly in the late 80’s and scalping tix for Robert Plant with SRV as the opening act. We got tix right before showtime, right down in front on the floor, about the 15th row. We only knew SRV from what we heard on the radio. Our minds were blown to say the least. Even my brother in law said to me how tf is Robert Plant gonna top this? SRV sat on the edge of the stage for about 10 minutes during the show and talked about his recovery. It was so personal and heartfelt and meant so much to him to try and help others. Gone too soon. ✌️♥️🎶

Young brother, Stevie Ray was about 5 foot 5 tall. And he had the hands of a giant. Nobody can play his guitar with those steel cables he strung. He was the most incredibly talented guitar slinger ever. And a great singer. But bending those cables, not strings, was an incredible feat! The most amazing person ive ever seen play a guitar, and i miss him so much, because he will never be replaced, and died because of an incompetent chopper pilot. Such a sad story!

Saw him 4 months before his passing, on a floating stage, in Tulsa Ok...supposed to be a spring show, April..but was 47 degrees at Showtime. SRV wore the Indian Weave Pancho blanket from IN STEP album cover...played 4 burn down the house tunes....without addressing the crowd...never felt so warm on a chilly night in my life.

You're so right about Double Trouble. What 3 GREAT musicians they are. Tommy Shannon was, of course, Johnny Winter's superb early bass player. Chris Layton is proof that no one should ever need a drum machine; he can lay a groove so deep your 4-wheeler could get stuck in it. Reese was a fantastic addition to the band, and his magic power was he was a second soloist for the band. And man can he solo!

@@L33Reacts Absolutely. Christopher Cross is known for kind of softer yacht rock type stuff, but he’s a great guitarist. He actually had to play shows with Deep Purple for a while when Richie Blackmore was out. Very versatile….. with regard to SRV’s guitar, Christopher Cross traded it in for a Les Paul at an Austin, TX guitar shop. SRV shortly after that came in and bought it. And that became his number one guitar everybody knows. CC is from San Antonio, so they are both Texas guys.
