      Sounds like you made the most of your time, good for you!!! It's a very cool part of the country. Where to next? If you're open to suggestions, we really enjoyed our time in Organ Pipe Nat'l Monument - that video will be coming in a couple of weeks. Enjoy and safe travels 😊

    We were just there in February 2020. Stayed at Kartchner Caverns state park. Awesome cave tours. Loved Bisbee, Thomestone not so much.

    We were in Tombstone 2 weeks ago also. Kitchener Caverns is a must do! $23 for a tour, but worth every penny. You’ll never be in a cavern like this. State parks did a awesome job there. So many cool little towns to see. Hope you come back and take more in of this amazing landscape.

      I am so totally bummed we missed Kartchner, we love cave tours and don't usually pass up an opportunity to go spelunking. We didn't even know it existed until this video came out. Now we know and will make a point to see it next time we're in the area, thank you!!

    If you get up to Yosemite area again you should stay at the SKP coop Park of the Sierras in Coarsegold, California. We just spent 2 months there and it is the most beautiful place ever! The people are wonderful! We will go back.

    My fiance and I recently visited Tombstone and we absoluelty loved it. It is true most things you have to pay for thats how they bring in money as a tourist town. I enjoy the old western life style. Were thinking about moving their actually. We did not get to see bisbee and benson. Sorry you guys didn't have a better time in tombstone.

    We've done both Tombstone and Bisbee and felt the same way you did. We stopped at Tombstone on our way out to Coronado National Memorial, then went to Chiricahua National Monument, then hiked out to Fort Bowie National Historic Site. Then on our way back stopped at Bisbee. Had my cards read (lol) and had dinner and drinks there. Great little fun town!

    I've been to Tombstone once years ago and while its obviously touristy, it does have some cool things to see and read about and amuse ones self with although yes the expectation is to spend and that isn't always a turn on. I had not been to Bisbee but that looks like a really cool town and I was rather shocked to find out it sits at over 5500 feet of elevation, hence the puffing stair experience and being stuffed up with a cold and a workout like that would not have been a fun moment !

    • @EmbracingDetours
      @EmbracingDetours  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think on a better day when I was feeling well we could have made much more of our time in Tombstone. But it would be nice if there were some signs explaining the history at various points of interest, the only thing we saw were people pushing paid for experiences. Bisbee took us by surprise too, even though you are only half an hour away from Tombstone you are definitely in a very different environment.

    Contrary to most comments here, I love Tombstone. I have a place there and always look forward to going back. I bought the place i have from someone somewhat infamous in the neighborhood who's name would still be recognized by most people that live and work there today. Good or bad, it's a very close knit community. I hadn't been there for more than a few days working on the house. While eating at the Longhorn, I started talking to a guy in a cowboy hat, part of one of the local shows. He introduced me to the owner of the Longhorn and some of the other residents. Through that conversation I found an HVAC guy, who put me in contact with all the other services. Thing is, no services advertise in Tombstone, they don't have to. There's too much work. I've been all over the world and few places have invited me in as a neighbor and friend like Tombstone did.
    My take on the tourist businesses is, I want them to stay in business. Every time I go "home" I go over to the paintball, gun supply, casino called Big Iron Shooting Gallery and shoot all the guns, buy some ammo and admire the saddles and western belts and holsters because, since I don't have a horse (or shoot western), I can't justify buying one. I might not even get one there, I might go to the guy at the other end of town on the other side of Allen street (main drag) and have him make me one. Geno D'Ambrose down at the Tombstone old west bookshop .But I'm still thinking I should get the horse first. To be honest, I've got a neighbor that has the most beautiful white and brown paint that I've ever seen. I've been looking at it for a while now...
    I routinely have a dozen deer walking though my yard and the late night coyote packs, and the occasional renegade cow will go grazing through till the local rancher finds her and takes her back home. Other than that, rabbits, road runners and rattlesnakes have all made an appearance.
    I guess for just a day visit, my experience there doesn't help much, but everywhere you go are people who you can develop lasting friendships. Eat at Cafe Margarita, get a premium steak at the Longhorn (don't get a cheap steak, you get what you pay for) and tell them Brian sent you. I always enjoy the idea of them saying, "Brian who?" I haven't been back in an while, but if you say, "the guy that bought old crazy Larrys place", then they'll remember who you're talking about.

      @harlockgft8884 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I disagree with what many people say about tombstone. How its "pay for everything" how else are these people suppose to make a living? not only that but their are plenty of beautiful sites and vistas to explore. My fiance and I are from NY and we absolutely loved it. We love the old west and want to make it our home. I'm a history buff as well and just the fact that it is still a functioning town is impressive.

      Funny you mention them, they were actually there the same time as us and we met them walking around the campground. Very nice people. Thanks!

    Great place, thanks! The Earps were most interesting, and Wyatt was a mans man!

      Our pleasure! The Earps are intriguing, wish I'd been feeling better and the weather had cooperated so we could have learned a bit more about them and shared it with you guys.

      @@EmbracingDetours Well, I am sure Wyatt and his brothers, and Doc. Holiday would have found the two of you most interesting, and would have shared time with you. :)
