About 10 years ago, the Sci-Fi Channel acquired syndication rights for the original Star Trek television series. For years, the shows had been cut down to fit the amount of commercial time needed for current day programs (there was less commercial time during the original 60's run). Sci-Fi fixed this problem by making the time slot a full hour and a half. Dubbed "Star Trek The Sci-Fi Channel Special Edition", the episodes would be supplemented with original interviews with the cast and crew discussing each episode. The interviews and extra bits were especially entertaining since it featured more than just the standard cast but also highlighted guest actors, writers, etc.
I taped each and every episode as they aired (even though sometimes I hit record a little late and missed a minute or two). The interviews and extras really are neat, and since I've never seen them on youtube, I decided to dig out the tapes and start grabbing out all of the extra bits. I've found probably 75% of the tapes so far, and I hope to find the rest eventually. I hope it's okay with Sci-Fi if I post these. I'm just trying to get them out there for those who may have missed thses years ago....

Where No Man is one of my favorite episodes
'Where No Man Has Gone Before' is my favorite episode.Coming in a close second is 'City On The Edge of Forever'.
One of the strongest episodes from the original series.
Absolutely great to see the late Paul Carr getting some airtime for his thoughts about his contribution to Star Trek, and the appearance of Sally Kellerman was a real treat. It begs the question, though: Has anybody put a microphone and/or camera in front of Gary Lockwood, who was lucky enough to add his footprints to two science fiction legends? For my part, I sympathize with those lenses, as I walked around for two weeks with my head like that after I got bifocals.
I realize he's been gone for some years now, but I'd have loved to have seen what John Hoyt had to say about Star Trek. I know his work far better than that of Paul Fix, and thought that he would have been wonderful as the ship's bartender, er, doctor, given the scenes he did with Jeff Hunter. Fix was really just a warm body in the second pilot, with little development, and I've long wondered why they pulled the plug on Hoyt in the first place.
I think Roddenberry always wanted Dee Kelley involved. But if you'd like to see the ubiquitous John Hoyt play something different...opposite Sally Kellerman yet...find The (original) Outer Limits episode "The Bellero Shield."
This is definitely one of my top three episodes!
I can’t believe it’s now been like 22 years since this first premiered. It’s what brought me to the Sci-Fi Channel and was the only show I watched on it then. It’s great to have the show on DVD and Blu Ray now.
Looking back, while this may have been seen as a flop for the Sci-Fi Channel (now ScyFy) back in 1998-99, in the long run, it became both very sought after and very informative. In many ways, this Special Edition of the original "Star Trek" mirrored its ratings-challenged original network run and successful syndicated rerun cycles thereafter. This came at the sunrise of the DVD era with its commentaries and retrospections. The best part about these is that all of the cast members and many of the guest stars were still physically living when these were done.
I was in love with Sally Kellerman in this one. She was just radiant.
Felt the same about Gary Lockwood, even though he was the bad guy here. Both he and Sally looked so intense with those lenses....

The Man From UNCLE episode Shatner and Nimoy appeared was 'The Project Strigas Affair'.
I was in love with Sally Kellerman on that episode.

Shatner was also good in his small role in Judgement at Nuremberg; however, it was tough to stand out in a movie with such a high profile cast. As in, good screen presence, and that is saying something when you have Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, Maximilian Schell, Judy Garland and Montgomery Clift. BTW, Jeff Hunter was probably the best part of John Ford's The Searchers, but I found him way too humorless and downright vicious towards the Talosian's. Cool to see Gary Lockwood here before his turn as Frank Poole in 2001 A Space Odyssey. He was more varied in emotions in Star Trek; though he really was written to be pretty much devoid of emotion in 2001.

On.the Outer limits episode " warm heart cold hands" Shatner plays an astronaut on a mission to Venus.The mission is called " project Vulcan".

On the flip side, there is another idea: the abnormal growth of Gary Mitchell's power was like a tumor; in the end, it might have killed him too (though not before he did a lot of damage).
[This episode is beautifully done. The scenes at the climax are dramatic and even poignant. It is certainly one of my favourite episodes.]
Actually Mr. Randy Barnett, Gary Mitchell would've been in a month's time far beyond Q's power because his power doubles everyday. For example, I've done the mathematical computations already:1st week: 1, 2, 4, 8,16, 32, 64. 2nd week: 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192. 3rd week: 16,384, 32,768, 64,536, 129,072, 258,144, 516,288, 1,032,576. 4th week: 2,065,152, 4,130, 304, 8,260,608, 16,521,216, 33,042,432, 66,084,804, 132,169,728. That's one month of his power continuously doubling in augmentation, in one month he's 132,169,728 times stronger than he was the first day of the month. Immeasurably, incalculably, unimaginably horrifying beyond the scope of imagination; 😲 wow!

@@randybarnett2308 Great point and deservedly so that's fasho but for one such as Gary Mitchell who's powers double daily all he'd have to is simply think those characters to death with nothing but a thought 🤔. I love your response though because I myself wish it was that easy as in terms of sheer numbers but that'd be ineffective and have no consequences at all. Don't get me wrong because I'm sure they'd put up one helluva fight but to no victory. My suggestion is to do the mathematical computations for yourself and you'll see, I guarantee you Mr. Barnett.

That was excellent, thank you. I did not know the Sci-Fi channel did this...! About what year was this....?I hope that they will again broadcast Star Trek like this, and make it available to purchase.We see here the great work the STOS team did back then... Each show was so long (51 minutes) and complex that they can be considered as short films...! But they had to come up with *_26_* of these shows every year, being one every two weeks...! A short film every two weeks? This is an amazing amount of production. These days most of the 1 hour shows have somewhat over 30 minutes of true broadcast time, and (for the most part) are silly and superficial conceptually. ... People therefore should not be surprised when we Trekkers admire the old series so much.Btw. I always liked Paul Carr in this episode, and was sorry to see him go. It would have been nice to have him stay as a member of the crew.

Awesome. I've always heard about these Sci Fi Channel Special Edition intros, but never seen them because they were exclusive to the US. Hopefully there's some truth to the rumour, CBS are including the original cut of WNMHGB on the S3 Blu-ray set.
Paul Carr could of had a great career in Star Trek if they had not killed him off here..

He was the first crewmember to die on camera. Gary strangled him with a cable via telekinesis.
However Gary.Mitchell was the first frienemy to die. Kirk buries him under a huge rock on Delta- Vega at the end.of the episode.

Star Trek would probably not have a reputation for being sexist if the women wore pants in every episode :) It's also easy to notice that Kelso doesn't even wear a read shirt.
It was considered 'empowerment' then.
I have heard other people make this comment, and I do believe the OS was slightly sexist. But it was a different time, back then. Nonetheless, the OS did a good job in braking other boundaries, such as having a African American woman and an Asian (Sulu: G. T.) as one of the regular players... there was the first interracial TV kiss... and there was a Russian (Chekoff) in the cast while we were yet in the middle of the Cold War! Imo, one of the great attractions of STOS, and all of Star Trek, is that it was very optimistic: the world was united, and past hostilities and differences between peoples on Earth no longer existed. This, and the key point that it was intense and very well done science fiction made the original series so compelling. It was almost as if this really could be our future.
I know I have it somewhere... I just have to find it.
Gene put so much thoughts an ideas into his scripts, he got good actors, created such good character interactions. What is the crap the have on the air, PLEASE go back to Genes formula's for a good script!

where no man Haas gone before as one if THE best episodes of the series. it demonstrates what is sorely missing from the new star trek motion picture reboot. the new series is missing actual science fiction. it has degenerated to action movies, terrorist in outer space. a shame.
You are so right, there is no character interactions like spock and kirk, there is no real story or plot line its just shock and pow and bam, BIG DEAL! Leave this in the hands of suits, lawyers and business men....this is what happens, if Gene were alive today he would roll over in his grave god rest his soul!
