Hola Ed! Thx soooo much for this Video. So here I'm in 2021 after so many years this unit was released, deciding to get a F7 for a special musical project and this type of tutorial just makes the decision so much easier. Very helpful and precise. So it means I could get my vocals sampled, letsd says a "breathy" "uuuhhhh" and assign it to the key patches just the same way you did it with the Kick and afterwards I can have my owns background vocals "uuhhhs" in a live situation! Great

Ed! There was a rumor that all previous versions of Roland keyboards had been taken away from you and your memory had been stripped of all information about them............ok I just made that up. But I'd love to see some more tutorials about the the Fantom X. Especially since you're the only Roland guy with the Top Secret briefcase and handcuff files on all of Roland's products..........ok I made that up too.

+70Gregcast Hello, LOL!!!! I think I might actually have to do some videos on the Fantom-X. I've been getting a surprising number of requests about it.

really? wow! You know I've had the X8 for years and just last year I bought an X6 just for the portability. Now all I have to do is key my eyes out for an X7 and I'll have a complete set. lol!

Why the Roland doesn't have the classic TR-808 cowbell?

Ed, your videos are timeless. I need a little bit more practice before I can kick the 808 like you my friend ;o)

Hey Ed. Great video. Question: been search on my RFX8 for the sound of the keyboard solo on Kool and the Gangs “Summer Madness”. I think they used a Moog on that recording. Just wondered if it’s sitting in the workstation and I can’t find it. Keep banging those keys. Peace

I got a question for ya Ed, or anybody willing to answer as I cannot find the answer online. How the heck do I preview samples from the CF card without having to import them first? Feels kind of stupid importing a bunch of random wavs just to be able to listen to them and then unload them because they didn't fit the bill. Kills the creativity for me as it's a tedious process. There must be something I'm missing out on here. Thanks!

Thanks, Ed. That was very useful for me. I still have a Phantom X7 and I can use any tutorials on this series board. Still wondering if I can get original minimoog effects (like portamento speed control) on this board.

+Rick Arcusa Hi Rick, you know I think I might have to do some throwback videos on the Fantom-X. And, to answer you question, YES!!! You can absolutely use effects like portamento on this board. All of those effects are inside. I'll try and shoot something this week. I just have so many topics to cover on the current boards. Thanks for your support, I greatly appreciate it!!!!

Dude, you've always been an interesting and personal video instructor! It was fun seeing the old Fantom X and the video quality and production. I wish I'll had the Fantom X7 and the G7. Currently FA06 is my Roland Live Performance Keyboard. Love your stuff and keep posting.

Hello Mr. Diaz: This is Steve Elliott. I'm preparing for a concert featuring my production projects from the 70s where I used the TR-808 as my main drum machine. I'm so excited to learn that I can program my Fantom X8 to recreate drum sounds of my now broken 808 equipment. My question is, are there other drum sounds of the 808 I can imitate with my X8? My thinking is to use my X8 as my drummer on all my songs for live performance. Thank you for your commitment to the industry. Steve
