The Roland Fantom X has three variants (X6 - with 61 keys, X7 - with 72 keys, and the X8 - with 88 weighted keys), all with the same internal engine.

Back then there weren't any videos beyond useless demo videos and you have to be an engineer for the manuals to be useful.

This is the manual(VHS/video manual) says it in the title. It was avalible when you bought the Fantom X brand new.

Hi, I have the Fantom X8, I wanted to connect it to my macbook pro but none of the downloadable usb drivers work, I guess that my macbook is too new, I love this keyboard, got it second hand and have been using it as a piano only for almost 20 years, I just never had the time to even try to use the other features, thank you for the tutorial!

The X6 is basicaly an MC-909 with a keyboard ?
I got the Fantom XA and a mc909, XA is closer to the mc909 as tge x6 has that cool usb audio recording update, however the XA lacks the digital i/o of the X6 and MC909.

@@andrewverran3498 : there is no more cool usb update, Roland doesnt have it anymore, I tried several ways, only ebay and reverb left.

i'm trying to see how to connect the Fantom X with my Mac to use it as a Midi. Not sure how to do this. Any idea how to do so?

I own a Fantom X8, it has the last firmware on it (2.10) the X8 has been gigged for the last 13 years, I’m due to buy another X8 next week, the new one is mint condition, my current X8 has 512k Ram installed and 4 x Expansion boards fitted, how do I clone my existing X8 onto my new one so it basically becomes my old X8? The new one has no extra ram installed, so I’d take the Ram out of my existing one and the 4 expansion boards out and put it into the new one? i have a CF card in the back of my current X8, I don’t want to lose any of my created sounds or settings

I wish someone would do a video to show Fantom X user ms how to update their keyboard’s firmware. There are two different sets of instructions online and it’s very confusing. To see it visually from someone who knows how to do it would be helpful.

Is there a difference between the mixer mode and the layer/split? I mean I know there are set patches for the split but I usually make songs through the mixer mode and it looks different from the “song edit” page. I’m kind of ignorant when it comes to terminology lol but is it possible to access the song edit page when using the mixer mode or are they two different sections?
