    Slept in a drawer in a room above Barclays Bank when I was a very wee nipper circa 1971. Westgate Primary; All Saints Middle and PHGS to finish. Bloody love that town. The pubs! Oh my captain, the pubs!

    And again you've hit me with a beautiful place, Otley, I lived in Otley after my divorce and loved it. Used to take my granddaughter to the park to feed the ducks and geese. Such a quaint town. Used often for filming, one being DCI Banks played by Stephen Tompkinson.
    Have often used The Black Bull but can get busy thus you feel squashed in.

      That's wonderful to hear! Otley certainly is a wonderful little town - and the riverside parks and cramped pubs really add to its quaint atmosphere :)
      Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and got the chance to see Otley again!

    I’m from Australia and have family in Leeds. Every second year we make the dreaded 23hr flight over to see everyone and always make time to come to the Otley Car Boot! I love Otley, it would be the place I would live if I ever moved there

    Great Video! My wife and I visited Otley in 1974 while on our honeymoon. I recall visiting friends of my aunts who lived in a flat located on the opposite side of a street of a tannery that I believed was no longer used. Before dinner we were asked if we would like a beer. We thought she actually had the beer in her fridge but moments later she walked out the door with a pitcher in hand saying she was going to walk down the street to a pub and would be back shortly. Such great memories. Was wondering if per chance you would know the name of the street and the pub? My wife and I did have the opportunity of visiting the pub during our stay. I recall the washrooms were located at the back of the building accessed via a side door. Have such fond memories of Otley.

    Otley is a small town with a lot going for it . I visited it many times living near Leeds in the nineties and always loved going there with my friend. I long to visit it again after the virus is over and enjoy it once more.

      It really does have a lot going for it! It's small but very compact - with a lot to see and learn about in just a few very pretty streets - and the perfect place to visit from Leeds. I hope you enjoy your visit next time you're in Otley :)

    Is there a train station near town centre Mate please

    • @LetsWalkUK
      @LetsWalkUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello! Nearest train station to Otley is probably Menston on the line between Leeds and Ilkley - takes about 10 mins on the bus from the town centre. Also buses to Leeds city centre are only about 45 mins and run all day long :)
      Thanks for watching - and I hope you enjoyed the video!

    My dad had his first pint in the Black Bull in 1932.. He was poorly for 2 days afterwards. One pint ! I lived in and Policed Otley from 1969. At bank holiday time I drove the big van and loaded it with 13 Leeds drunks at all a time, before going back to Wharfemeadows Park and loading up another 13. They liked to steal and sink the boats. The Junction is the best pub and I will be in there in 2 weeks time.. I live in Wisconsin now and it doesn't rain much, but the fish and chips are rubbish.
