Ive watched all your reviews on this bike and have been mulling it over for year or so now... After a test ride I bought a new 2020 model in green today, from Wheels in Peterborough for £63 pcm on PCP... I couldn't say no... I've got a week or so to wait until I collect it... your reviews are spot on, thank you.
Really good review. Looks like a decent bike. I had a 2017 Z900 when they came out. Had it for a year, did 7000 miles, and it was great. This looks even better, and with traction control, riding modes, LED lights and the TFT dash, it makes it more appealing. Interesting and positive to hear that the suspension feels better, as I didn’t think they had updated that. Would have been near perfect if they had uprated the brakes (not that they were bad on the previous model) and put better tyres on it. But it’s so much bike for the money. I will definitely test ride it; I’m actually tempted to get another one based on all these improvements!
It’s well worth a look, and the suspension is the same, just tuned differently. The new dash is fantastic as well. It’s only about £400 more than the old model too!
get some higher spec pads and steel braided brake lines like ebc dual sinter or sbs dual sinter paired with dot 5.1 fluid high performance fluid from brembo or motul that should dramatically improve the braking steel line fluid and pads are inexpensive way of upgrading brake feel and performance 2 of which are consumable parts anyway and will be due for replacement eventually put tires like rosso 3 or if you want something even more sporty rosso corsa 2 once the dunlop is finish you will have a bike that handle and brake alot better then stock without much money being spent.
When the stock tires are the biggest flaw.......that still how I feel about my 2019 Z900. Great review. Not enough new in 2020 for me to let go of my 2019 model. Thanks!
Good review. Clear and concise. Covered all salient points without blathering on about unrelated personal opinions. No wind blown on board audio. Thanks.
Good call on the dash layouts. So many cool modern ways to do it and some manufacturers use a layout that looks like old gages. A real old round gage looks better than a digital picture of one.
I'm usually trying to get on one of these Honda's, but this bike had appeared in a few of my dreams even recently. Low key I think I'm trying to get my hands on this Kawasaki. To my beloved Honda, I'm sorry aight?...

Thanks for the great review! FYI, Windshields (National Cycle V Stream)and side cases (Shad) are available so you could sport tour this if you wanted. Love the updates. Disappointing no quick shifter, but they added so much for 2020, I guess I can go see if an aftermarket unit is available. Yes and would definitely replace both tires when the rear goes! :-)
Where is the faired version of this bike... Ninja 900? Kawasaki has a Ninja 400 and 650 for those that want some wind protection and a Z version for those that don't.
@tittlemouse92 Not the same thing mate. Yes there is a Z1000SX/Ninja 1000 but that is much heavier and the engine is not as refined as the one in the 900. I suspect Kawasaki know that a Ninja 900 would steal sales from the Z1000SX and that's why they never made a Ninja 900
