I was tired of waiting to see this manual Supra on sale for $60k+, so I purchased a Miata manual in Soul Red in the RF GT trim. Great fun and offers everything the Supra does for about 1/2 the price! To all those enthusiasts out there that are wanting a manual Supra and are tired of waiting and don’t want to spend about $70k after a dealer add on, test drive a manual MX-5 Miata in either soft top or in the hard top RF which is like a coupe style wise!
Thanks for recognizing the collaboration between the manufacturers. Most folks struggle to see past BMW’s involvement. As a package for drivers, the Supra delivers.
Thanks for watching. It's easy when you have a broader perspective. The manual in the M3/M4 isn't BMW's best work, while the manual here is excellent and it's clear that Toyota was behind it. BMW eventually got it right with the new M2, but this one is superb. Plus, this thing has street presence like no other car in the category.
Now I really got to drive one asap. Love the review. Fyi the.logo has to be best the best in business! It's terrifying... almost like a roller coaster lol
Wow! Rough day at the office, Brian! LOL. Glad to see that you dressed appropriately for the event! Nice review. No wonder that this car is on the list of "long wait times" and "high dealer mark-up". After hoping that some fun cars with automatics would have enough "other" engaging character to offset the lack of a third pedal, I am now pretty convinced that for the most part (short of some actual race car or 6 figure Porsche), that it just isn't going to happen. It's always the same thing with the auto. "Great car, but you really need to get the MT". I suppose it is in keeping with what BMW offers, but kind of interesting that the 2.0L is NOT available with a MT.
The shirt is always available in the merch store! As for the car, I haven’t check on delivery time, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re in short supply. This is better than the manuals that BMW currently offers. Actual race cars aren’t enjoyable on the road. I drove our AMG last month on the road for Woodward Dream Cruise and it was no fun at all…except for the burnouts!
Can't wait to order one of these eventually. Hoping to get it in manual but I could care less. I just love the car. Currently my dream car right behind the GTR.
This is going to sound funny, but the thing about the GTR is that it's "too capable" and becomes scary fast too easily (as do many modern sports cars). I mean just simple FBOs on a GTR and you have an absolute monster. Fantastic car for racing, it's hard to go wrong with that. If I were going to have a car for track duty, I would get a GTR without question. However, the Supra seems to work best as a "normal car" that can be enjoyed in the streets a bit more. It doesn't have the latent potential of the GTR, but it's a smaller and more streetable vehicle that is fast enough to put a smile on people's faces. Sometimes less is more in certain scenarios.
funny if you go FBO on the supra it'll be quicker than the supra. GTRs aren't that quick till you start upgrading turbos, plenty of faster and more capable cars on stock hardware. Fangirl prob never drove any lmfao@@dannyllerenatv8635
Thoughts about BMW's B58 long-term reliability? Thanks god they didn't put a huge screen in there. How does the experience compare to an ND Miata (other than obvious power differences)?
Brian thank you for the review, I'm moving away from the German brands and coming back to the Japanese makes. I'm looking at the GR Supra and cross shopping the Lexus RCF, auto for both as I'm looking for a GT. Is there anything else that you can recommend and what are your thoughts on the RC350 so the pricing is closer to the GR Supra?
@@timw2083 I have thought about it briefly, but unfortunately I don't have confidence in Nissan as a brand. I have owned a 76 280z and a 94 300zx TT in the past, but the last 10-15 yrs Nissan hasn't impressed.

I have to agree it’s a wonderful car to drive but the low window line that you like drives me crazy. I’m pretty tall and find I have to duck down to look out the side when checking for cross traffic etc. I know that’s not picking but …….. Otherwise they have an awesome product there.
Thankfully I’m still race driver height. I don’t have too many complaints. Wind buffeting with the windows open is bad, but fixed by the aftermarket. It gets looks like a Lamborghini, if that’s your thing.
Id like to hear you discuss hill assist, launch control, and Toyota sensing in the MT Supra these features are fully removed correct? I saw a sticker on a MT Supra and it said it has hill assist how do you use it? I can’t find it on mine does it not?
None of those things are terribly interesting to me, so I don't cover them. Hill assist? Don't need it. I never bother with launch control on anything, it's just a circus trick. Safety systems? Standard equipment and nothing to talk about.
i hav hill assist on my stang. if unwant it in u go to the settings. if the incline is mild u will still roll back nut when it s a little steeper on lce u put it in gear and take your foot off the brake and put it in the accelerator the car will hold for about 3 seconds hope that helps
There’s room in the Supra?? It looks like you’re stuffed into it. I’d seriously be on the fence about buying one, due to claustrophobic tendencies. Even the GR86 is roomier.
