@@montypop you sound super cool!!! and omg relate, my dad grew up along the West Coast. he's from LA and we did this same roadtrip exactly a year ago but we started in British Columbia !!! we love Canada so much haha and i also don't understand how my free-spirited hippie parents gave birth to an anxiety-ridden bookworm LA city gal like myself lol. I literally hid in the Vancouver Public Library for a good few hours because I was so happy being near so many books😂
this made me super emotional because literally a year ago my parents, younger sister, and i did this exact same roadtrip except we started in canada bc we spent my sister's 19th birthday there. then we went all the way to san diego county where we stayed with relatives. so when fletcher started talking about PCH and the Lost Coast etc i nodded like "yup dude" I remember being in the forest super quiet and thinking about ancestors who protected the land and then shift it back to present-day people quietly walking around being mindful of the land they were walking on. I had a lot of anxiety ngl bc my dad drove LEGIT on the coast (you could have literally fallen off if you swerved just a tiny bit) (closer to SB county) for about 2 hours and im terrified of heights but overall it was a beautiful trip and we stayed in a bunch of cute towns within the forest and near it as well! i guess this video made me realize how much has changed in just a year given the pandemic and how thankful I am to have a loving family that values traveling...and someday I'll do this same roadtrip with my own family haha :)

When covid is controlled and the border is open and life is some what safe and normal again. I think you'd absolutely love Vancouver Island and or eastern Newfoundland. The lost coast looks like a combination of them both

You two look like your having a lot of fun, Renting the van was a great idea, gives you an idea what you need to live in it, Camper vans are easy to drive and can get into places bigger RV's cant get into. If you think camper vans are for you check out the Winnebago Travato. They have everything you need to live in them comfortably, shower, tv, micro, stove, AC you name it. I have the K floor plan and I love it, my house is going on the market on Monday and I will be living in it for a while.
I was born on Camp Pendleton and grew up in Oceanside until I went into the Air Force back in 1976, I went back and drove around the old neighbor hoods I used to live in a few years ago, the place has changed a lot since then.

Im a Bay Area native and Point Arena is my happy place. I have a close family friend that was a hippy and moved up there in the 70s, she built her house by hand with a group of friends. Its magical up there

My parents and I live full time in our VW westy with two dogs and a kitten. The northern coast of Cali is amazing and if you ever go farther north you should check out this restaurant called Yaks off of the 101 in Dunsmer. Amazing burgers and great people!!
