- Dirty Harry is a 1971 American neo-noir action-thriller film produced and directed by Don Siegel, the first in the Dirty Harry series. Clint Eastwood plays the title role, in his first outing as San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Inspector "Dirty" Harry Callahan. The film drew upon the real life case of the Zodiac Killer as the Callahan character seeks out a similar vicious psychopath.
Dirty Harry was a critical and commercial success and set the style for a whole genre of police films. It was followed by four sequels: Magnum Force in 1973, The Enforcer in 1976, Sudden Impact in 1983 (directed by Eastwood himself) and The Dead Pool in 1988. In 2012, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant.
Notice that the theatre next to the Hot Dog joint is showing Clint Eastwood's Play Misty For Me
Oh wow. Never noticed. Thanks!
00:12 indeed! Helluvatimes watched DH1 - never got a look at the joint! Thank You Alex!
That means there is a Clint Eastwood that exists in this movie
I finally noticed this the other day after watching clips of this dozens of times over the years. 😂
I love his delivery on the "Aw shit..." as he eats a hotdog.
And he’s still chewing throughout the whole shooting part lol
At 94, Clint Eastwood is still going strong. And 53 years after this was made, it's still one of the most iconic movies ever made. The other 4 movies were good, but none of them have eclipsed the original. Love Dirty Harry - and would love to see a movie/miniseries on the origin of Dirty Harry.
Here he was smiling. At the end, delivering the same line, he was trying hard to keep his wrath in line.
One of the greatest soliloquies ever, including you, William. I always laugh along with Harry after the shot.
Endless source of enjoyment, especially if you've been a victim of crime.
“I gots to know” ha ha. Love that. Cannon Harry is armed with.
Am I the only one that laughed the shit out of me when I watched this scene in Dirty Harry😂😂😂
This is top 3 best action movie scenes in the history, no doubt ❤
Great intuition is what makes Harry so special
The Do I feel lucky monologue is the definition of a Proto-Tarantino badass one liner.
A GREAT ACTOR WHO WHO PLAYED IN MANY GREAT MOVIES, GONE ARE THOSE DAYS!!!
FUN FACT: The actor that played the Chef gets SPIT ON by Josey Wales, in "The Outlaw Josey Wales"...
We need Rockstar to do a Dirty Harry game.
Bar none, greatest scene in movie history.
Damn straight.
I dunno. When he says the same line to Scorpio at the end it has extra weight. Although this scene is legendary.
Bank building I,M sure is the same STUDIO BUILDING that DON ADAMS runs into at beggining of GET SMART as well as MAN FROM UNCLE episodes
Thanks for the hotdog Mr. Carpetbagger.
They should make a dirty harry origins movie with preferably his son Scott Eastwood playing his dad #awesome 😊.
thinking the same thing...Scott looks a little shorter though
@@jeffglass5771 true 😊
@@jeffglass5771 just a thought
An awesome one 😁
Great idea! I'd like to see one on the origin of Dirty Harry.
Gotta Love This!
No ketchup on that hot dog ! 🌭👍
Maybe it’s ok in San Francisco but definitely not Chicago
@@giantleprechaun2350 / Yerr damm rite on dat ! Don't put pineapple on yerr pizza either !
Funny, Harry says that to a fellow detective at a homicide in 'Sudden Impact'. 'Nobody, I mean NOBODY puts ketchup on a hot dog!!', he tells him.
Harry had no intention of getting involved and just call it in. Unfortunately they're a bit faster than he anticipated he had to act
It's not that he had no intention to get involved. It's that he needed backup. Harry knew that to confront them at that moment would end how it did. With a shootout that put civilians in danger. But if the robbers came out to a whole squad of cops then they would likely surrender peacefully. That's why he said, "Wait till the cavalry gets here"
Pro Tip: Never bring a shotgun loaded with bird shot to a bank robbery.
Most criminals can’t exactly be accused of being geniuses
Always such fun!
"...Hey...I got to know..."😂
I GOTS ta know.
Look at that pollution…”yeah” meaning not the car 😂
Le plus beau mec..de tous les temps...❤❤❤❤
Love it when Harry sends the running criminal thug into the plate glass window.
HALT!
Extremely well delivered one-liner by Harry!
Todays US fascist police are making Harry look better and better. Thanks for this, always loved Dirty Harry even when I was too young to go and see it. I'll have to blame Barry Norman.
they're aren't fascist or you'd be in jail, cretin
What in gawd's name happened to the dialogue?
It's not "I know what you're thinking. It's I know what you're thinking, punk".
I don't remember it that way. Is this a Mandela Effect in play here for you?
@mournblade1066 I remember this show was on a trailer on ITV4. The Ramones "Judy Is A Punk" played as a backdrop, and clips of"Do you feel lucky punk" were in there, from both scenes.
It might be, that the "I know what you're thinking, punk" line was at the ending. I'll have to watch it again to see for certain.
Did he know that he fired 6 shots and knew he wouldn't kill him or...
This film looks like a 90s film
Nope, 1971. This scene was shot on the Universal Studios backlot so it can be made to look like anything.
Jack N. and 🎉😮❤ WGNJMN
I heard 7 shots
I counted 6, do the math
@@BrandonSoto92010 I think the seventh came from the robber's shot gun ?
@@bermudarailway most likely
Empty chamber shot
