Just completed this only difference on my 2012 Harley-Davidson was the the modules come off with the trim panels and there are two screws holding the modules into the trim panel. Your video saved me $300 today. Thanks again.😊😊

Thanks again for a video that has helped a bunch of us for over six years now! There was a small difference for my truck (2012 platinum) -- Once the airbag was out (same procedure) the switch was actually screwed into the plastic bezel. It came out together pretty easily- no tools and minimal force needed, actually easier than the prying shown in the video. Other than needing a #10 torx (and a tough angle on the top screw), it was not a big deal. The switch mounts into the bezel that then pops back in place. Thanks again!!

Nicely done. Perfect match for my 2013. My volume control has been instead changing the radio stations for around two years now. This showed up in my recommended feed recently since I am a subscriber and after watching I decided why not? It literally took me as long as it took to watch and do along with you. Thanks!!

Thank you for your switch replacement videos. I now have control of ALL the windows in my F-150 and now when I turn the volume up or change the song from my steering wheel, it doesn't come up with voice control or change inputs or do all the whacky stuff that was going on in the old switch pack. I might add to your instructions though as I had everything just about ready to press the airbag back in I stopped, removed it again AND clean the better part of 4 years of dirt, crumbs, whatevs that normal cleaning and detailing wasn't getting because I had access to it. It's out in the open folks, run a cleaning wipe over it. Snapped it all back together. Also, as I had it unhooked for half an hour I also reset the conrol modules by grounding the positive connection to the negative cable as per your video. Just back from the learning drive. It is interesting to watch the sweeps in shifting go from wide changes in rpm to relatively narrow ones in the short drive that I put on. All in all a successful triple operation for me today. It was irritating when I'd keep hitting the steering wheel controls knowing I really could only rely on the radio controls. Not as irritating as unbuckling and reaching over to hit my riders window switch while careening down the superslab.
    Thanks for your videos.

Thanks for the great demo video. Made my switch replacement really easy. However, I think you should mention the new switch pack may fit pretty tight at the top and bottom. Thus, causing potential pinching of the vinyl material around the switch pack pocket. This can cause a slight tearing/ knicking of the material. I had a slight pinch, but nothing serious. I would use a small piece of electrical or duct tape to protect the edges. Making sure not to place it too far into the pocket as you may not be able to completely remove it once switch is in place. Or, tuck a side in slightly, and force it in that same direction as you clear the opposite side to prepare it to be tucked in as well.

I have a 2013 F150 Platinum with the right side switch that was messing up. The steering wheel has steel around the horn. My switch was locked in with two screws and the entire right side of the front of the steering wheel needed to be popped off then unscrewed the old switch and replaced with new. I then popped the entire right side back on and continue with your video. Thanks for the video, switch has been changed out for an off brand that was 1/3 the price of the Ford house. I would buy from the Ford house because I thought it meant the parts were better, but if they were better they would be going bad in under 5 years. Thanks again for the video, much appreciated!

Popping the side off was after I followed your instructions on removing the horn/airbag.

    Thanks.
I replaced this is my 2013 F-150 in twenty minutes. It's even easier than it looks.
1 - Disconnect negative terminal of battery (my Tesla mechanic neighbor tells me mechanics don't bother and have had none go off)
2 - Using 4mm hex key push with slight force into the three holes in the order recommended on this video
3 - Lay air bag module on top of steering panel without removing connectors
4 - Remove connector to volume control module
5 - Push out old module with adjustable wrench I used to disconnect the battery
6 - Push new module in (a bit tight but you can push it without breaking it)
7 - Push connector onto volume control module
8 - Push air bag module into place
    9 - Connect battery

I just replaced mine today. Great video!!! A few extra tips.... You should use a longer allen wrench like he uses because when I used a shorter allen wrench and it was a little more difficult. Also, you should make sure the steering is orientated straight ahead, because again it's more difficult because if the holes are not horizontal or vertical. Mine works now and not intermittent and it does not change stations if i press the volume!!!

The volume up button on my 2013 f150 fx4 sometimes acts like I've hit the track forward button below it (I press volume up and instead i go to tje next song or radio station instead of the volume increasing). The track forward button sometimes acts like I hit the track back button instead. I can go weeks without issues, then days of constant issues. Ever come across that? I've wondered if it is a physical button problem or some sort of software issue.

+novak94, I took mine to a different dealership with about 20 miles left on my warranty. They fortunately did not try to recreate it and just swapped it out. Haven't had an issue since! (Probably three months now). Hopefully your swap gets you similar results.

  • @jasonlitz3523
    @jasonlitz3523 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks for the videos. I have a question. A friend has a 2012 and the cruise ON button requires you to push it over and over before it will come on. He already assumed it was the switch pack so we installed a new one that he bought but that did not fix the problem. There is a code about the left steering switch pack. I know you can't diagnose a truck you can't see, but based on your experience, do you think the new switch happened to be bad, or the clockspring is the culprit, or might there be some other issue? I've checked all the inputs for the cruise system and it will come on, eventually. The fact that it will eventually turn on and that we have a code for the switch pack makes me think it must something along those lines.
Would really appreciate an opinion on this. Thanks!

Can i take the radio controls from the right side steering wheel of a ford five hundred sel and install them into my ford five hundred limited?? Would it be as simple as replacing the plastic cap with the buttons or would i need to install a harness??

Do you have to disconnect the battery completely or can you just disconnect the negative side for 10 minutes?

So about a week ago my 2009 F-150 FX4 developed a media switch problem. The volume - button raises the volume, the volume + button skips media forward. Is this a switch pack problem, or something in the computer?
