Damn you’d think it was FWD with that kind of 0-60. My GTI does better than that and it is FWD. Still, love these cars. They look good and handle great, its not all about having the most power
@@arh.7754 if you can get the same power out of the 86 (those engines don’t have as much tune-ability as the EA888) the 86 would win from a dig, because it’s RWD. That’s obvious. But neither the GTI nor the 86 was made for drag races. They were made for circuit racing and spirited drives. I just expected the 86 to have a better 0-60 than a stock GTI, because it’s RWD. Iirc the power difference between the two in stock form isn’t huge. The RWD of the 86 should make up a good bit of 0-60 time over the FWD of the GTI.

Auto has more features for practicality. I’m buying one because my city is busy asl and manual is no fun unless im on the highway. Also the additional snow mode is handy especially during midwest winters
Buying and automatic transmission on na 4 cyl small car is total bullsh1t, if it be some Porsche with 400hp ok, i can understand it, but this is killing this great car.
You are looking at it with too narrow of a view. Toyota and Subaru needs to sell as many as they can to keep this model and platform alive. And also there are people with health problems that cannot drive manuals but still want the style and agility that this car can provide.
Check out whats on this car here -> th-cam.com/video/QOSaa6hadUc/w-d-xo.html
you can get it closer to high 5.9-6.0 if you redline in manual mode
And if you get stickier tires in the back and avoid that wheel spin
@@joseph1541the premium already comes with Michelin pilot sport 4s. Im pretty sure you can get to 5.4 seconds if you power shift the manual premium
The best you can get manual is probably 6.1~ish and for the auto I think would be 6.6 - 6.5 seconds depending on the launch.
@@wanting_no, you can get 5.3 in the manual and around 5.8 in the automatic in manual mode. I’ve tested this myself already with both gearboxes

Not bad for a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. Especially considering straight line speed isn't the appeal of this car.

Manual mode plus launch closer to 3000 rpm not 1200
Just as fast as my mom station wagon

There’s no point in not selling an automatic, especially when most gr86 sales are automatic.
How can we expect the Americans to steer *AND* change gears though. That’s *two* things
They would make no sales, barely anyone buys manuals
