Seeing these old dirt track racers takes me back to childhood when my cousin " Marvin" raced on the dirt tracks where we are all from. My dad even helped Marvin build one of his race cars. My cousin " Craig" ( Marvin's son ) and me got in trouble once for playing in Marvin's race car. Marvin doesn't race anymore, but owns a race track in Birmingham Alabama and Craig now races for real. Gotta build me one of those. Beautiful job as always Chris !
Building this now. Haven't done a model in probably 30 or more years. Big A.J. fan, so when I saw it I had to get it. This video has been immense help. Lot's of good tips. Wish I would have found it before I had started.
I would build one of these Monte Carlo NASCAR kits just as a mean street car with another seat for the passenger lol! As always, another nice build. Those old NASCAR kits never disappoint.
Need to add this kit to my stash, used to drive by A J Foyts childhood home for years till it some how got demolished for new construction. Wish I had known it was going to happen I'd have grabbed the A J Foyt marker on the curb before hand.
Again, I'm sure it's been said here or on another video somewhere, But you are like the Bob Ross of model building - except I don't fall asleep watching your work! Keep it up!
I really like watching your builds, but especially your Salvinos JR builds; they are awesome and your excitement is so contagious I have ordered 2, and will probably get more.
All cool kits. What's fun with the '71, is that you can make your OWN livery with the sponsors you want to, or even create -fake- ones and make it YOUR race car! Beautiful build.
@@johncampbell4923 I know you can make your own. There are special paper for that. Or you can find someone who do their own aftermarket ones and ask them if they can make some for you.
Looks great I use Grey primer water sand use a base coat clear system my friend tried your system he likes it great job can't wait for the next build I could watch this around the clock..
Great video I have tried the future just seems I am doing something wrong the decals always seem to bubble up or move doesn't matter if it sits 2 days or a month
I find the hoods are hard to come off after the future finish. I started doing mine with hood off. Then put together after drying. As usual. I love your builds. Turned out great
Awesome! Beautimous! Good deal Chris! 👍👍🤘✌🏻, yeah AJ was one of my favorite drivers, that sumbuck did all kinds of racing! I wished they would come out with some of Jr Johnson’s cars, the cars he drove personally, you know, not just his racing team cars!
Great job again! I have learned so much and improved my skills over 100% just watching this channel. Thank you! It's been fun enjoying my COVID hobby, a redux of my middle school hobby. As an FYI, I couldn't find Pledge brand, so I got a different floor polish, but it works great! Pics coming to your FB page soon.
Hi Chris, I picked up king Richard's 73 Petty charger but was disappointed that the kit did not include the vermillion red decals. I contacted my hobby shop and asked them to order the missing decal but apparently they do not buy directly from Salvinos. I'm so disappointed with my kit.
I said you have to buy them from Salvinos direct in the video. At no point did I say they are included and made sure to say a few times they are an option. No reason to be 'disappointed' with the kit. Order the decals from Salvinos yourself and enjoy your models.
I just received my first JR Salvino's kit -- the mountain dew monte carlo. Appears to be really high quality, and will likely get another JR Salvino's kit in the near future.
I was watching you build the AJ Foyt kit again! No rear quarter Windows on these? The instructions clearly shows them ! Kinda confusing! But you did such a Wonderful job on this car!
So odd nowadays to see a car that isn't completely covered with contingency decals or has big huge logos on the hood and trunk, but that's how they were back in the day. Always love these Salvino builds. Reminds me that I haven't really built a Stock Car in a long time, and I should really fix that.
This a beautiful model. I am re-entering the modeling hobby (cars) and really appreciate your advice to build models whatever way that makes us happy. I followed your advice to use Revive It floor polish to finishes and am getting this spider webbing effect when it dries. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your kit builds. It motivates me to know I can build good looking models without having to take myself and the hobby too seriously.
Way back in the early '70s my old man took me to an Indy car race here in New Jersey called the Trenton 200. Now it's been a decade or 5 since then but I'd bet A.J. Foyt was running along with other old time Indy drivers. Now back in 1985 while watching the coverage of the International Race of Champions, and waiting for my brand new 1985 IROC to be delivered, I found out that the shop that maintained the cars between races was 5 minutes down the road from me. Of course I went down and checked the place out, it was a nondiscript building in an industrial park. The day I visited I got lucky and they were loading up the cars for the next race. Somewhere I have dozens of pictures of the cars and each one had the drivers name on the sides and one was A.J. Foyt, along with Mario Andretti, Tom Sneva, Emerson Fittipaldi among others.
Sure, I save all my spray can nozzles from used up cans and reuse them when one clogs. I also soak them in super clean until needed, eats the paint out of them.
Sweet build, your decal application was awesome and quite informative Thanks for sharing and giving recently back to the hobby old guy’s confidence 👍👍👍
Great review and build. Thanks for as always an honest review.any hint to brand of brush you use for applying future,i always find one that sheds.peace
hey man, love these old kits, im glad here being reissued but i do have a question, will the future floor polish turn the decals and paint yellow like the testors clear coat use to? great job as usual on this one!!
Great videos Chris! I'm sure you are tired of the questions about applying Future, but is it okay to apply if the body has been polished with Tamiya polish?
@@hpiguy Thanks for the reply Chris! Loved the gasser video. Nice to hear the sound of the spray can too. Hard to decide which I like better though because the music is good too! Thanks for posting all of these great videos. Getting ready to start my son on his first model kit. AMT Plymouth GTX convertible. I'm sure if they can get a license and produce that generation of kits it will happen. all those companies want big $$$$$$$ to make a kit, especially the huge names like Gordon, Earnhardt, etc.

I hope they come out with a Dale Earnhardt Sr car, that would be awesome
Search the web and you'll find one
I'm sure it will happen one day, if the license can be bought.
Theresa wont allow it. There are Fred Cady decals still around, though, I have the Wheaties and Wranglers still hanging around

Do you ever have problems with your spray can nozzles clogging up? If not, what's your secret? If so - how do you clean them?

Won’t the clear Pledge seal the hood shut to the body?
Sort of, but it pulls free with no issue after it dries up.
I gotta try the silver Sharpie. Does it hold up?
I’ve been using Molotov, and other silver paint pens. They worked fine, but don’t take well to handling.
Great job, showing the deal installation! Maybe I’ve been spending too much time!
Thanks for the tips on using the Future clear!
Once dry in a minute the silver Sharpie is extremely durable.

Numerous. I built at least one on this channel, his Hardees car.
Search modelroundup.com for them.
I never see you press down the decals to remove water and air bubbles from underneed the decals. Don't you do that?
Don't usually need to, they dry fine most of the time.
