I really like how you usually mix hiking tips or gear reviews in with trip stories and scenery, so I get to watch both and not just one or the other. Makes it much more interesting. And the positive attitude is infectious!
Excellent mix for those of us with ADHD that don't have the ability to sit through someone else's trip video! The hacks came just often enough that I didn't have to make you talk like a chipmunk.
That one ponys coat matched the color of your beard. Haha! What cool trip. Thanks for sharing a trip video disgusted as a hack video. Haha. Smart. Also enjoyed those hacks you shared.
I live in Abingdon, so you are in my neck of the woods here. What a great loop. I've been at all those places a number of times. And the ponies can be pests. In the summer they will lick the salt off of sweaty hiker's legs. But, y'all were COLD on this trip. Good hacks, too. I always have water in the car even after a short hike. But fresh clothes is a great idea.
Glad you finally made it to Grayson. Never know about the weather up there. I hate you missed the views over into Western North Carolina towards the Anphibolite mountains between Thomas knob shelter and the main Park area. You'll have to come back
I think the strings with sticks in the shelters are for hanging your pack to avoid mice chewing through it, not really for food bags. Hanging a food bag from those would be like fishing for bears. 😉😂
Re the snacks in the car hack, if you’re not familiar with the area at least store your snacks in the trunk, and then in either a plastic bin or 5-gallon bucket. I’ve left food (never opened) in my car at a trailhead along with a paper towel roll for five days and, when I got back, I had a chipmunk nest in the headliner. The food bags were all chewed up, and now I have acorns in my headliner and whenever I make a sharp turn, the acorns roll from side to side. Mice and chipmunks can get into any car. They come in through gaps in the wheel wells.
Good thinking there. I've had them chew through packs when I left my bag sitting too. They will chew through about anything to get to that food for sure
Good info, Jeremiah! Always enjoy your videos and your friendly demeanor! Another tip for camp chairs as you might not always have a suitable log around, use practice golf balls on shockcord (I think I may have seen that on your channel before). They weigh next to nothing and work great at keeping you from sinking. And I just realized I've been watching for a while and haven't subscribed. Don't know how that happened, but I subscribed now! Any trips planned for the summer?
Good ideas, friends and adventure! The only not-good was the weather, but heck, you can't have everything, and it keeps the crowds down. ;) Thanks for taking us along!
Another hack is that sawyer makes little blue coupling that goes on the bag and bottle. So no aiming or spillage, just screw both on tight and back off a little from the bottle side for better flow.
I was out section hiking Georgia and heard of you!!! I also heard you were doing the Pangea or Easter continental trail! Good luck! You’re an inspiration!!!
Depending on how long you’ve had the Hokas, they have been known to give refunds or replacements for separations like that. My son and I did a 92 mile trek in 2021, his boots looked a lot like that. Hoka gave a refund on return
I have owned 3 different pairs of Hoka Speed Goats and none of them survived more than 200 miles for me. One pair had a hole clear through the sole and midsole under my heel that I could fit two fingers through, after only 100 miles. I will NEVER buy Hokas again! Too much of their soles are just foam rubber, with the solid rubber bits just glued in place. Whatever glue they use does not work very well!
We slept on our pads for this one, but brought the hammock in case the shelters were full. I guess we were the only ones crazy enough to be in there lol
I thought the #1 goal when backpacking with Dad is to keep Jason alive, or is that only when you guys are hiking with Justin? LOL Got a chuckle out of Jason promoting his and Tim's channels. Especially since I had watched Jason's video that dropped today 1st. (not intentionally, it was just listed 1st in YT for channel updates)
@@JeremiahStringer preparedness is key and I bought a Rock Cloud chair that has foot pads to prevent from going into the ground because logs are not always available, I'm not mad at you I just seems your still a little misinformed of the options available I understand you are trying your best and little busy at what you do. But keep up your videos even ask your group of friends on topics that may seem irrelevant on your adventures but believe me I watch them and like them. I have hiked and fished areas that are only available by foot and cowboy camped and sometimes just slept with just snacks and fishing gear in sitting position waiting for the 4 a.m. fish to pull my hand while holding the pole. Keep up your efforts with the videos I understand you are busy with your life. It is all good 👍 just keep going forward with a positive attitude and don't cut your beard on a dare lol.
I’m sorry Jeremiah, I’m just not so sure about the caricatures your hiking with. I believe I’ve seen there photos on the post offices most wanted board. Sorry!
The log under the chair tip is a good one! Awesome that you got to see the ponies!
Thank you. Love seeing the ponies
The next time you are in a shelter, please show how you set up your tarp as a wind break. Great idea. Really enjoy your videos.
That's a good idea Bridgette
You make great videos Jeremiah!
Glad you like them! Appreciate that!

Appreciate the kind words :D

Lol appreciate the support :D
What a fun trip brother. Beautiful scenery and the ponies was so cool to see. Can’t wait for our next adventure together
So exctied!
Oooohhhh I love that Peak sweet pork and rice! ❤❤❤
So good!

Clothes for the ride home is a great idea
Agreed

Thank you! And we stayed at a hotel in Abingdon the night before we started hiking
Yep, this is definitely on my list!
Good stuff!
Refreshments in the car is my favorite hack man. Nothing tastes better than a cold Monster after a hike. Great times brother!
Got that right
Grayson Highlands is my favorite 😍. I'm going for 3 days in May. Can't wait!
So amazing out there
Glad you finally made it to Grayson. Never know about the weather up there. I hate you missed the views over into Western North Carolina towards the Anphibolite mountains between Thomas knob shelter and the main Park area. You'll have to come back
I'll have to revisit
Such an epic trip as always man! Great Edit. See you for the next one!
Can't wait!

Good point. I once found a garter snake in my car, right there between the driver and passenger front seat. Crazy.

That Sweet Pork and Rice is fantastic!
Delicous
The chair hack is awesome
Thank you. Learned it from Backpacking With Jason

Good tip! This summer my wife and I will be hiking the Camino for 6 weeks in Spain :D
Sweet! Y’all some killer cats! 👍🏻 see ya in the gorge sometime.
Sounds great!
I second the fresh clothes and snacks in the car.
Oh yeah!
Good ideas, friends and adventure! The only not-good was the weather, but heck, you can't have everything, and it keeps the crowds down. ;) Thanks for taking us along!
That's right. Less people means more fun for me lol
Wonderful scenery, good tips and great crew! What more could you ask for except maybe better weather? Keep on moving!✌️
That's right!

Those work great
That looked like the biscuits and gravy from Peak Refuel. That's a solid breakfast.
So good!
I love the Mt Rogers area.
So beautiful
Always looks like a great time boys! Hope all is well! Much love from Owensboro, KY!
Hope the big O is treating you well in Western KY
The Nemo tensor is such a sweet piece of gear!
Totally agree
Whoa nice ponies. Looked like a fun trip. Great video and tips!
Thanks, Rod :D
Love those trip videos , good adventure buddies
Glad you enjoyed it
I was out section hiking Georgia and heard of you!!! I also heard you were doing the Pangea or Easter continental trail! Good luck! You’re an inspiration!!!
Thank you so much!! :D Love the support! I am doing the Camino de Santiago this summer
Well done! Hate I missed this trip. Looked like an amazing adventure. Nice hacks too! Crow
Hope to see you soon. Thanks, Crow!
Looks fun
It was a blast
The beard compliments the hike.
Thank you
Always love a good backpacking hack! Looks like a fun trip! 🤙🏼
Had a great time
Was that a Gonex Tarp that you used to block the wind at the shelter?
Lol no. It was the Thunderfly by Warbonnet
such a great group of gentlemen, glad no one got bit by a pony.
Lol totally agree
Keep some baby wipes in the car also, will knock off some of the funky and make the clean clothes feel better also
Totally agree
My nemo tensor got two holes in it for no reason on my recent Foothills trail hike but they were so big I ran out of tape.
Hate hearing that. It’s my favorite pad

Think they were going on 2 years lol Bought the same shoe, but new model. Hope my feet do okay in the new ones. You never know

@@JeremiahStringer 😊♥️👍
You mentioned the Camino? You going this Spring/Summer?
We are doing it this summer :D
@@JeremiahStringer Wonderful....have a wonderful time. My family (4 of us) are walking it, beginning in late May. I think it will be a busy year.
Where dat merch at?
Lol coming soon
Great tips! Did I hear you’re doing a Camino?
That's right. I start about June 1
@@JeremiahStringer that's awesome! Enjoy and Buen Camino!
Cool!
Thanks
....and the beard magically reappears!
Lol your right
I don't see any hammock setups in the shelters
We slept on our pads for this one, but brought the hammock in case the shelters were full. I guess we were the only ones crazy enough to be in there lol
Most of my backpacking trips are in bear country so we don't leave snacks in the car😊.
Makes sense :D
I kno that Jason guy
Great guy

Oops we didn't see you use your reflexic food bag/coozie😂
Left it at home on this one lol My pack was 36 lbs starting out
