Have you ever onsidered trying a paka for rain gear. It is a combination rain coat and pack cover. The nice thing is that the pack straps are covered and stay dry for the next day.
You and Jason did a great job embracing 'the suck' on that wet weekend, I saw his video. I just got the Shadowlight 60 to use as my Winter pack and have taken it out only once so far, but it rode like a champ and has plenty of room. I am glad to see you seem to like yours. Thanks for sharing your loadout. :)
Great load out. I especially liked hearing about your hammock setup. I am a lifelong (emphasis on the long since I'm 63) tent camper. What can I say? I just love the ground. Though our hiking styles are very different, I appreciate seeing how others do this backpacking thing. I use a Sawyer Mini and a Lifestraw as backup, but use the Katadyn BeFree asy main filter.

I always keep at least one dry shirt and a dry pair of shorts to sleep. That's in addition to the base layer which I will wear on trail if it gets cold. Extra clothes are nice to wear on the last day hiking out so you are dry to start with. Kind of a reward on the last morning.

Nice set up! That pack is very interesting with the additional pockets and such. PRO TIP: You should make a how to video on using that booty super soaker. One squirt? Two squirts? The world wants to know!

I haven't had any issues with it. The hip belt pockets I really love. I think sometimes it might make a little noise around the hipbelt so don't buy it if that would annoy you

I definitely would watch a review on the new jet boil I think that's the new small one if I'm correct? Friend had a jet oil that I use the last long hike I went on and I really liked it but I was wanting a more compact version that looks perfect.

That Trekology pillow just wasn't for me. Tried it a few times and just isn't comfortable. I got a Simply Light Designs pillow and was out cold and comfortable all night without pillow fumbling. Check it out sometime, a great buy for $20! Saw it recommended a lot on Hammockforums and they weren't wrong.

I'm surprised to see so many people staying with the Sawyer Squeeze. I usually rock my BeFree, and a StriPen Ultra for a little added protection, but I just got a GRAYL GeoPress. It's significantly heavier than most, but it filters out everything! Bacteria, protozoa, viruses, chemicals, and heavy metals. I'm using it at work here in West Texas, but I plan to take it out on a trip or 2 this summer when I get back to Michigan. It's about 1lbs, and about 90$. We'll see if it makes the cut this year.

For most of the places I hike in New England spring water and spring fed creeks are everywhere. The sawyer is lightweight insurance against baddies while removing a few particulates at the same time. No viruses really to worry about, very few contaminates too. So simple and fast I just stick with the sawyer.
@@oldunion yeah in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we have pretty clean water. I just enjoy the ease of use with my BeFree so much, I wonder why people are so die hard about the Sawyer Squeeze. I even have a HydroPak collapsible bottle for it, a 3-D printed aqua clip so it just hangs on my shoulder strap, and a 3liter Seeker storage bladder for it as well. HydroPak makes great stuff for the BeFree.

Depending which tarp, hammock, and suspension combo I take it's usually between 3 and a half to 4 pounds for the tarp, hammock and suspension

I have that 45L shadow light in my cart with them. How was the frame system and waist belt on that? There’s some mixed reviews on their site.

Could be a good fit for you. I boils water pretty quickly if you do a lot of dehydrated type meals

It has done fine in the rain for me, but I always use that bag liner to make sure nothing inside gets wet that I wanna keep dry
I always use sleeping bag left open with feet in bottom exactly as you do. That way I have sleeping bag with me if I want it.
