I like the attention to detail of James' original trucks having the original season 1 look with the Annie & Clarabel type eyes. It makes for further consistency between the two stories and it adds to the feeling that the old trucks are from a different time.
By Season 2, the trucks basically all had clay faces to indicate different emotions - even the ones from season 1 and we know they're different because they had/have railings above their mugs
The fact that they leave old trucks behind when they’ve crashed is sad. If I was the city governor and I discovered that I had non-faceless vehicles or object would give them the same treatment as I would do a human or an animal. And do everything I can to save them if ever they need fixing or had a bit of a slip. Same way as getting a helpless human being to the ER and taking them to emergency surgery.
Why not scrap the four odd Season 1 trucks by the lineside? I'm sure diesels such as Arry and Bert would say they'd make beautiful scrap after all. They're broken and also some would say they're eyesores

Small nitpick: Even though the narrator said three trucks and the guard's van were left behind, there are four trucks and the van.

Not to mention. They should have taken those trucks out, because they are probably on someone’s property (field).
I’m pretty sure they dragged the trucks out of the field just to where they weren’t on the private property but on the railway property then just left
