So you can actually add any other folder to sync. You don't have to use the default folder it creates. if you want something that is more cloud based you could go with nextcloud.
Hey! So it does actually download each file to each device so yes each device will have GB of storage used. There is a cloud only option when syncing but when you go to use that file it will then download it to the computer at that time.
