Okay so... this guide is outdated, I will make a revised guide some time in the future but lets go over some of the things you should do instead. 1: You no longer use Tenka Goken on 2 targets, now we do it on 3+. This also applies to Tsubame Tenka Goken 2: Tsubame Higanbana is still useless, use Tsubame Midare instead and in a 2 target situation apply still use Higanbana but manually apply it to both targets, rather then Tsubame Higanbana 3: No more Kaiten, rip. Doesn't change much, just spam more Shinten If any of this is wrong please do leave a reply and Ill edit this comment, also if I find out anything else before making my revised guide, Ill make sure to edit this comment further.
I'm really amazed by this guide. You described everything really well and in an easy way to understand. Whenever I had a question pop up on my head you answered it just in that moment. 10/10 would recommend
Samurai for me is like my "home" job. I'll go play other jobs and roles for weeks/months at a time but I always end up back at Samurai. It's just a comfy job, to me at least.
I picked up Samurai late in Shadowbringers as something to do while waiting for Endwalker to come out. I fell in love with the job and leveled it to 80 in just a couple of weeks. It's become my favorite melee DPS, despite the fact that I cannot pronounce any of the ability names! I really enjoyed your guide, but I wanted to know how you have the three seals/stickers reduced in size to sit neatly along your cast bar?
Glad you enjoyed the video! As for your question HUD layout - click on the gauge or use the dropdown menu to find your gauge - click on the cog next to the drop down menu once its selected the gauge - Switch Job Gauge to Simple Mode. And just like that, you have a much less noisy job gauge! Hope this helped! :)
watching this made me feel a lot better lol my higanbana keeps falling off for like 2 seconds at the odd window and like a quarter second at the 2 min window but i see it happens here too so i guess its just normal xD
There are ways to keep things aligned without using fillers, which allows you to lose fewer Midares over the course of a fight and thus gain DPS, but this is definitely the way people should play to start. It's important to understand why you need to fillers to start with and become very familiar with the kit, or you're probably not going to be able to play ad hoc very effectively.
from all the jobs I play I barely know any of the skill names except for like the obvious ones (trick attack, midare, enshroud etc.) I just know them by their picture and refer to them by their hotkey in my head lol
62 to 70 it feels like you're getting more kenki than you can use it feels like to me. Admittedly this allows you to spam your hisatsu so it's not a complaint
Hi, great guide. I have a question tho, why the skill speed stat is that important ? It look that for me, with or without this stat, the buff which reduce gcd always put my gcd at 2.25s, no matter how much i have in the skill speed stats. Can someone explain why it's important ? I don't get it.
Most of the glamour is the lvl 90 samurai artifact gear, the only exception being the horns that was from the cash shop (Demon set) and the leggings which are 2bs leggings from the first Nier raid, hope this help! :)
Yes but it is ON the Global Cooldown, meaning when you use it, you cannot use your other Global Cooldowns until your recast is back. That's my logic anyways, I know its technically an off global as it has a cooldown, but the point is its on the global cooldown when you use it
Completely off topic, but what is the top your WoL has in the beginning of the video? And I appreciate your time putting this guide together, I just picked up SAM and look forward to leveling it up
If we do everything correctly, like using our filler GCDs when required then we should collect 3 Sen by the time our Tsubame is back up, after we have done our Midare into Tsubame Midare we can use our Meikyo into Gekko (Or Kasha) and reapply our dot, then once the dot is back we can do another Gekko and after the Gekko we can do a Kasha and then all thats left to do is a Hakaze into Yukikaze to get another Midare off at the very end of our re-openers Hope this helps and if still confused, just reply back and Ill try to help as much as I can!
Those skilled are executed with another skill and under specific conditions. Your Iajutsu skill will change depending on how many Sens you have collected and will become one of those skill you can't put on the hot bar for example.
Man I feel like I would play reaper better seems easier than Sam idk I’m probably overthinking it. I leveled reaper to 90 already I’m only 54 on samurai. I still need to level that monk and dragoon I finished ninja and reaper for melee. I usually play range jobs so melee is something I need to get usto like positionals. If reaper does the same dps if not more than sam with utility buff you think they going to buff Sam to beat reaper since it’s not fair Sam doesn’t have utility?
SAM also can really shine with a group that caters to it, for example a DRG feeding Dragon Sight to the Samurai, a DNC having the SAM as Dance Partner, an AST spamming cards on the SAM, etc. There's speculation that such a comp actually has the most rDPS but still requires further testing and debating
I thought reaper was doing the best and they had to buff the other jobs still sorry if I’m not understanding. I know Sam is good was just a bit intimidated by it but I’ll try giving it a go leveling up.
@@AquaMusica305 SAM and MNK were always doing more but the difference was pretty low. They've already released a balancing patch now so SAM is the clear number 1 and MNK the clear number 2 when it comes to dps now
Ok and here i was considering picking Samurai for playing on a controller... Too Many Fucking Buttons But all melee jobs have a lot of buttons which you cannot realistically put on all hotbars without fearing to tie a knot with your fingers
Just keep at it! Practice makes perfect, build the muscle memory with stone, sky and sea and also spam the extreme trials until you get a real feeling for it :)

Glad I could answer the questions along the way!
Just came back a couple weeks ago from being mia for almost 3 years and glad this guide exist I can readjust my rotations now a lot more cleanly.
As someone who is still super novice to FF14 as a whole but took a liking to Samurai, this guide is fantastic.
Leveling SAM right now, so I'm very happy this came out. Looking forward to being able to use the full kit
I hope you enjoy the job, it's an absolute riot :D I'll see how I find NIN but I think this could be my favourite melee dps
Watched your Monk and now Samurai guide. Both are very informative and put together exceptionally well.
10 minutes in and my brain stopped working lol, great guide bro I'll comeback and watch it again once I get to level 90.
You top all the other character bill videos. I have ever seen. You just earn my good sir a subscriber
Love how you explain things. Thank you. Been my go to guides for whenever I pick up a new job.

The only difficult part of this job: memorizing the f****g names of every attack.

What top are you wearing for your Sam?
I still have to start at level 50 correct
I keep hearing "kinky gauge" and have a stupid grin on my face every time. Thx for the vid mate!
Are you gonna do a ninja guide??
Yes. The How To series is currently on hold but Ninja will be covered in the upcoming days/weeks, not sure on a date just yet
Higanbana, tsubame gaeshi gets used on only if there are two enemies 🎉
It's still a DPS loss. It should never be used, to be honest.
New to the game and SAM, how do you use the skills that can’t be put on hot bar?
Those skilled are executed with another skill and under specific conditions. Your Iajutsu skill will change depending on how many Sens you have collected and will become one of those skill you can't put on the hot bar for example.
Higanbana: Pronunciation (Hi gan ma bana).
Great guide though. Thanks.

if samurai is the selfish melee DPS which one has the most party support? ninja and monk?
Every melee except SAM has party utility, DRG and NIN are probably the most supportive though.
DRG and NIN are definitely the most supportive, while MNK and RPR are more in-between supportive and selfish and then SAM is just full on selfish
How did you get your minimal gauge sen?
In the HUD menu, when clicking on any gauge, there is an option to switch to a simplified version.
Use one charge to set Kaeshi: Higanbana for an increased potency DoT.
Get three more stickers.
Setsugekka into Kaeshi: Setsugekka
