Do you know the joke of the politician and the engineer ?
One guy is lost and stops his car to ask for directions to a guy. Says he is getting late to an appointment he promised to go and he needs to get there quickly and if he knows where to find the place.
The guy he asked answered. You are in a car 7 km from the city's hall 40 degrees latitude.
The men confused asked again. You are an engineer right ?
      Yes. Why ?He answered.
Cuz everything you said may be technically true but it's practically useless and now I'm going late anyways.
The other men said. And you are a politician right ?
Yes. He said proudly, how do you know ?
Because you don't know where you are nor where you are going , you made a promise you can't keep , and you want someone else to solve your problems. In fact you are in the same situation you were before asking me , but somehow now is my fault that you are getting late.

The problem is, if people want to outlaw "hate speech" then who gets to Define what is or is not "hate speech?"
To me, any kind of insult is designed either to get a rise out of someone or to insult / hurt their feelings. So if you go down the rabbit hole it seems like almost any kind of insult can be considered "hate speech" by someone. What if you have a person who is very sensitive? If you call that person an asshole it might genuinely hurt their feelings, and make them feel terrible. If I call someone stupid, they might take it to heart. I have known a couple girl where the slightest insult could reduce them to tears, yet it is not illegal to call somebody stupid or an asshole. Nor SHOULD it be!
So if you, for example, call someone a racial slur, or insult their sexuality, you would be doing the for the same reason. To insult, hurt feelings, or get a rise out of someone.
You make hate speech illegal, it seems to me, we would then need to make every form of every insult illegal, instead of people learning to have a little bit thicker skin, and that is not okay!

My hope is that people don't "sound black"in the future and I mean I hope they start to enunciated and not that people say they sound black. Saying someone sounds black is not racist. That's one saying a Chinese person sounds Chinese. It's just a fact. Some white people talk like black people. I think they're stupid to do so and look and sound like complete fools, but I can't help it if people think black people are cooler than white people. We kinda are. I think he was trying to say that Steven Crowder makes his video premises in a way that he knows will draw out extreme leftists so that he can embarrass them. Thus suggesting to the viewers that the opposing argument is filled with unreasonable people shown on these videos that attack Steven for his opinions. Viewers will then associate the opposing argument with these unreasonable people, and in the future, they will be unwilling to have their minds changed because they do not take the opposing argument seriously, and will disregard it as coming from a "stupid leftist." Steven uses terms like these in a comedic sense, which is fine, but because he is also a political influencer, he has a responsibility to breed civility between opposing sides of an argument. I often see people in comment sections of Crowder's videos criticising liberals as a whole which is stupid to do as it closes your posssibilty to accept new perspectives on an argument.

You understand the Internet goes all around the world and currently the amount of lying and cheating you can do is NOT regulated, I can assume!?
The 'bill' would lead to fast shut-down of scammers so Doris in Idaho is not scammed out of her life savings by Gutpa in Mumbai, don't you understand that?
Phishing and scraping would be a lot harder with full net rules.
The 'wild west' was less than 40 years before fences were put up. The net needs fences now, due to the 'cattle' being on-line too.

I think if I was to ask this question, i would rephrase it to “Getting offended is your own fault - Change my mind”
Nothing is truly offensive, it is only up to you to decide if you will be offended by whatever is said, therefore it is not the person who is being labelled as offensive, to be offensive, but your own fault for perceiving it that way. Something I say on a daily is “You can’t change an entire worlds dictionary because you dislike a word, you will learn to overcome it”
The only way for everyone to be happy is for people to not take things personally and brush it off.

    • @Karljagerfield
      @Karljagerfield ปีที่แล้ว

I agree with some of what you’re saying but things most definitely can be offensive😂 the word offensive is a word that’s describing how the receiving end of the conversation takes the word. So even if something isn’t offensive to most people. If one person happens to take offense that makes the sentence offensive. That’s just how it works even though all of what you see happening today is a bunch of childish ass people taking offensive to shit that really shouldn’t be perceived as offensive. But the word “offensive” is completely dependent on the perception of the receiving end of whatever statement was made. This is not the case for accusations such as racist and homophobic, etc.. due to those words being descriptions of the statement rather than the feelings of the person the statement is directed at. If someone offended, then whatever was said unfortunately is offensive. Even if it’s an absurdly odd thing to take offense from.
Other than that I agree with you. You can’t change the dictionary for the populace. And a lot of people nowadays are way to weak, insecure, and easily offended, to be taken seriously. They could choose not to be offended, which would in turn make the word not offensive. But these people who are taking offense nowadays are literal pussys who take offense at literally everything.

To be fair, to reach a point where you are solid in your beliefs and can back them up at any given point with logic and reason, you have to go through this stage of questioning things, arguing things, even if it seems irrelevant. He is clearly trying to figure out where his position is in his head as he's talking and I give him props for that, even if what he was arguing for was somewhat inconsequential. There are too many redundant zombies out there repeating what someone else told them to think, and when questioned they don't have a single reason why they believe the shit they just spouted. So this guy deserves more credit than he's being given in the comments section.
