I had my first kid at 18 still in school, I was not financially capable of taking care of a baby. I dropped out of high school and began working in the oilfield, I am now 26 with a Masters in computer science. Been with my wife for 10 years and have 3 healthy amazing kids and I have a great job. It was not easy but 100% worth it. I am not religious, I am against aborting for the one reason that killing any human is wrong
I believe that aborting a foetus younger than 5 weeks is okay.

I think the smartest comment I have ever heard on Change My Mind is when that girl said she is only 20 and doesn't have it all figured out yet. Most young people think they know so much more than us old people. She is smart enough to know that she doesn't know everything.
She was probably the only person in the entire video that made any sense at all! Her conversation with Steven was a breath of fresh air in the sense that, even though they disagreed, they were still able to have a respectable exchange.
I was surprised by her response because it negates everything she argued beforehand. She said she doesn’t know when life begins so maybe she needs to do more research

I’m about to tour UNT and this is exactly what i’m looking for. Glad there’s a lot of different opinions and people who are down to talk as humans.
It’s incredibly amazing how the logic you use to illustrate how life begins at conception, with a separate DNA, the baby is a separate entity, fully human, fully viable with a heartbeat, and yet can be killed at the will of the mother because it’s inconvenient. I’ve listened to the now adult children of mothers who were raped who were so grateful their mothers chose life for them in spite of the circumstances of their conceptions.
The sperm and egg cells also have completely separate DNA than the person holding them

To be completely honest I am a father and my wife had a miscarriage and I didn’t truly understand how it was very much alive until we lost it.
I’m very sorry for your loss and I know this isn’t the best comparison but it might help you. I really wanted this puppy from this specific breeder and I was planing to get this puppy this November but the mother dog had miscarriage and lost all the puppies. I was very upset because I was truly looking forward for a my first puppy, but my mother told me that it was just not meant to be and everything happens for a reason (I’m not very spiritual or religious) and god wanted me to have another dog. This took me a little time to come to terms with. Now I have found another dog with puppies soon and and waiting for a ultra sound. I hope you have a long fulfilling life with your family, your wife, and healthy happy children. Have a nice day.

But we refused to quit trying, no matter how hard those losses were on us, and finely gave birth to a beautiful little girl. She just turned forty a month and a half ago, and I now have two beautiful grandkids. Hearing these different point of views definitely helped me form my own opinion on the topic. I think right now I think my definition of when human life begins is when the brain is developed, and start "experiencing" life like hearing the mother's heartbeat.

Im glad my nephew is still alive who was not a 9 month year old baby when my sister chose to bring him into this world along with my brother-in-law as well. He spent months in the hospital and received a liver transplant from another families child who didn't have the choice to live or die. Through that traumatic circumstance it brought LIFE to another!

To further what you’re saying, it also doesn’t matter what the mother calls it. That doesn’t change what it scientifically is. That’s fine for your day to day life, but when we are having policy discussions, we need to be more precise in our language. A mother talking about her pregnancy doesn’t need to be precise.
I’m with you mostly. Question for you though, at what point are you okay with abortions to? You brought up brain death, and that’s kind of been my go to for determining when life starts. When you can detect brainwaves, I’d imagine that’s when it begins to have some sort of subjective experience, and is something worth protecting to me.

A friend of mine got pregnant by insimination. The prosess needs 5 eggs to be fertilized. She got all of them insiminated (one by one) becouse she is pro life and dont whant her fertilized egg to be stored or destroyed becouse they are humans. 3 of them made it and are now in the teens.

The girl at the end...I was the girl in the story except I was 16 and disowned by my extremely religious family. I gave birth to a girl and I was broke and scared with no support. I grew up in a bad home life and my step mother pressured me to get an abortion and would scream at me what a failure and disappointment I was to the family. She even told me if my father died of a heart attack it would be my fault because of the stress I put him through. I had to drop out of high school and I home schooled myself.
Today my daughter has graduated top of her class in HS. I graduated with a BS and work as a scientist at a local laboratory.
It is possible. It’s harder and it takes longer and I had to go without a lot of things and have government help but it’s possible and my daughter is the best thing that happened to me. She was my inspiration and driving force and I don’t know where I would be without her. She probably saved my life to be honest.
I just can’t ever understand how people can use that scenario to justify murder. I just can’t. It sucked. It was hard. I did it anyway. I’m not “bragging” but I know what it takes and it takes a lot. That doesn’t mean because it’s going to be harder that you should throw away a life. Murder an innocent child for sake of convenience.
That’s just my 2 cents.
Whats missing from your story is the cost to society. If everyone did what u did we would be broke. (We all aready broke.)

Dave Jones NPC #7388299 perhaps look at it as more of delayed return on an investment. How many TRUELY AWESOME people have been ripped apart and dumped down a drain or sold off as spare parts and cell culture for medical uses, before they ever had the chance to draw first breath?!
Dave Jones, there are plenty of government agencies and employees that we could (and should) just get rid of. That would open up a lot of funds. For example, helping a 16 year old girl raise a future taxpayer is a much better allocation of funds than paying Diane Feinstein to try to take Americans’ guns.
Or, take the illegal immigration problem... Steven’s Build the Wall segment shows how much the illegals are costing America. Maybe we should get a better handle on that situation so we have more resources to help a woman like Holly who is a productive member of society, as is her daughter.
