Google and Apple have now demanded a cut of movie sells in app. Thats why they pulled that feature. Hopefully they consider remaking the vudu box as stand alone hardware.
I feel like voodoo is my digital Blockbuster. I love the bonus features just like the Blu-ray or DVD. The ability to find other content through searching, cast members, directors and so on
I really like Fandango/Vudu app, but wish the app has more settings to change the cc fonts and also which it could have the option for multiple languages.
Funny enough, I started with Vudu and gradually migrated to ATV over the past couple of years. It is not ideal to have a split digital library but that is where we are in this digital age.
Thanks for this. I appreciate vudu cross platform compatibility. Also a handful of movies I've purchased over the years only activated on vudu. So i have a bit of a library there, though I don't use the app a ton. I agree with your closing comment - seems like one of these bigger providers could step up to the plate and really deliver a high quality video and audio experience.
Also i also love apple tv 4k and i hope with their new apple 4k they will have the atmos and updated audio as well as temp ive been using zidoo z9x and its not bad of a media box , very good results
Thank you for this review, great work! 👍 As a former Vudu user, and now a Fandango at Home user, I have nearly 800 titles. I try to use Movies Anywhere when possible to get better video/audio bitrates. I wish my 2019 NVIDIA Shield Pro allowed what your ATV does as far as statistics. 😊 Keep up the good work. 👍
The app did not change with the FAH rebranding of VUDU. A Major issue for me is the inability to create more than 100 lists. That issue is exacerbated by the limit of 200 titles per list. For example, I’ve had to split my “Action” content across two lists. I also cannot reorganize lists in FAH, forcing me to scroll across 50 different lists to move between my two lists of “Action” content.
Vudu never allowed direct purchase from the app so that’s just a carry over. Same as the PrimeTV app. It has to do w long standing disputes between those companies and Apple.
Hey bud , been following your content and your videos are awsome , but for me with streaming it will never be in the same level physcial is the way to go
I started with ultraviolet which turned into movies anywhere which basically turned into Vudu and then Walmart bought them and sold them. I have my complete digital library on there after Ex-Girlfriend literally burned my physical media stash. I have 700 or 800 titles and do not wish to rebuy them a third or fourth time. I hope Fandango ups the quality of the audio. Ever since Fandango started merging the app has been bugging doesn't look properly or you have to load it twice, almost without fail. It's my favorite streaming app because it's where my library is and it allows me to buy 4K Dolby Atmos movies for cheap I really hope their audio quality can at least match atv
You can connect Fandango to Movies Anywhere and also an Apple account. A lot of movies will port over. If you want to move somewhere, that's your best bet.
It's because apple TV doesn't allow fandango to have full access. It's competition. The only other reason is if fandango is being lazy not putting more content in their app
I'm not sure Apple explicitly blocks selling like this as much as the other provider doesn't want to pay the fees it would require. I can buy movies in my Kaleidescape account in the app on my iPhone and iPad, for example. Would be nice to have full stores in all these apps though.
Vudu was better fandango at home won’t fix their steaming service constant freezes and buffering during movies if fandango refuses to fix these issues then they should shut their fucking service down and refund those who bought movies from them

Agree

I’m about to make the same transition. 🤦♂️🤬
It would be interesting to compare the same two movie title streaming specs to an identical stream on Movies Anywhere and Apple/iTunes.
I've done this in other videos over the years. Check them out!
Hey man, have you seen the news on the new HDMI passthrough option for Dolby Atmos in the macOS update?
I'm filming a video on this right now! Stay tuned.
The audios is night and day. I tested Inception on Fandango vs my 4K rip on Plex and the Plex version was so much more dynamic.

Would love your take on the Criterion collection streaming service!

You never mentioned if you had to register to use the service or how much it cost.
Vudu is online movie buying/watching platform, not a service. It isn't a subscription like Netflix.

so does the atmos work well? does it have the overhead sound like disney plus and netflix?
Yes, Fandango support Atmos just fine. The bit rates are lower, but it's there.

I decided to get Godzilla Minus One on Fandango and I was pretty impressed with it.
Great videos, as always!
Thanks!
I’m so confused how to buy stuff because I can’t do it through the app on my phone either is there a website I have to do it from?
You need to use a web browser to buy from Fandango. They won't pay to revenue cut to sell in apps.
TH-cam/google definitely lets you make your own playlist.

Yeah, they are not giving up that percentage of profit. I'm surprised that Kaleidescape lets you buy content in their apps.
I don't think you were ever able to make direct purchases on Apple TV from other platforms

The fact that they, now even in 2024, refuse to integrate some form of 2FA is absurd. Not giving them a single cent more until that's a reality.
It genuinely seems like Apple is throttling other apps while allowing its native app to run faster. I wouldn’t put it past them. 🤷♂️
I don't believe that to be the case. I think each provider chooses what the want to stream.
VUDU’s closed captioning is absolutely awful. Delayed and off to the side of the screen.
If one can't read, nor INTERPRET "terms of service" (then agree with said "terms"), one should AVOID Fandango / Vudu.

It's VUDU, will always be VUDU, no matter the silly names these corps try to do. Just sayin'...lol
