    I genuinely rate this video as the best video,the reason being no professional reveals their income on public platform like this....your intent to let students know how the pay structure gonna be for the particular course,particular area of expertise,particularlevel of experience is something knowledgeable,so that students can actually plan accordingly

    I have 20 years of experience and my P.E. license. I work for a small company in the rural midwest with 10 employees. I only make $67k a year, but cost of living is really low here. I owe less than 10k on my mortgage and have no other debt. On average we only got like 1.5% to 3% raises every two years. Since covid hit we are currently on a pay rate freeze, but we also work from home now.

    • @ImmigrantTalks
      @ImmigrantTalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am happy things are doing well, 67k is a great income for rural area. But today you can find WFH for large companies and be compensated 6 figures for PE…I would look into that as well.

    Civil engineer(bachelors only) working in DC area, specifically construction management. I graduated in 2012, where I had a starting salary of $60k at biggest company in DC area. I left after a few years to a smaller company, and 10 years later, I will be making $100k for the first time this year. There’s a lot of growth in civil engineering overall. A lot of branches and doors that will be opened. Hope to get PE in next 5 years.

      @@ImmigrantTalks thank you sir! Quality video that was very accurate and realistic! You basically explained my salary to the tee! I usually get a $2-3000 salary raise every year, but my boss recently gave me a salary increase of $8000 within 3 months of previous raise in order to keep me. Being a valuable asset and having strong work ethic will help increase salaries. Not just because you’re an engineer will guarantee work security. Keep up the great work!

      Yes there is some ups and downs

      So when you start your job civil don't think about salary tak some years of experience then switch it

A lot of people in civil(usually gresh graduates) feel like civil engineering is grossly underpaid compared to IT/software. I agree to some extent. But as soon as you rock the PE and get your stamps, you will get into higer pay brackets and goes even higher if you make lateral movement into planning or project management ;That might sometimes require jumping ships. No I have a masters and I’m 21. I completed an AA by 18 (throughout high school) so bachelors took 2 years, now I went to my masters and it took me 1 year so now I’m 21, I work in Southern California and I make $85,000 starting off, civil engineering is a really good occupation.
