Hi my name is Damo & welcome to our TH-cam channel, we are loving family that live in Bamboo Huts in Rural Thailand. Damo (me), Ryan (my husband), and Otis (Our Son) spend our days taking care of the land and the animals and enjoying each others company.

We have opted for a simpler lifestyle, and living in "The Now". On the vlog we will show you what it is like to live in Rural Thailand, details on plants we grow on our land, and most importantly our honest and authentic selves, the good, the bad and the ugly.

    Big Love,

Bergen, Norway. Plan to retire on me and my Thai wife's 22 Rai farm in northern Isaan within 2-3 year from now. Have already started to plant some of the trees in our planned Permaculture food forrest 1,5 years ago, but the process got delayed due to the pandemic. So hopefully we can learn from your failure and success in your garden before we continue next year. And this episode was very educating. So thanks for sharing!

Watching from the UK. A place that is slowly killing my soul. These videos are truly amazing. You have a wonderful family and have such a beautiful and peaceful life. I have never felt such peace, fulfillment and happiness as I do when I am in Thailand. There is no place like it. Thank you so much for making these videos and sharing your experiences with the world. There is so much more to life than a crappy 9-5 and mundane routines. I am a recovering alcoholic and have been fighting depression since my early 20's too. You are a true inspiration. Bless you all!

I like your life in Thailand very much, maybe I have to come back to live over there. His is very lovely child. I am born in Laos, but I moved to the United States and I am a usa citizen now. I don’t like to live over here in the usa, it is too lonely to live over here in the usa. My parents they still live in Laos and I also have some relatives live in Thailand too. I miss Laos and Thailand very much.

Amazing content, fresh and unique. So relaxing to watch compared to other Thai vloggers. Sweden here, been traveling to Thailand for about 10yrs. During this pandemic I just got depressed about not being able to travel, so I decided to take actions and actually move there. I will quit my 9-5 job now on friday and in a couple of weeks make the move. I know it will be the best decision I've made in my 35y young life! Cheers!

I go to Thailand nearly every year for the last 6 years. Just a quick note before I forget if you are in Bangkok again please visit the city pillar (หลักเมือง) or San Lak Mueang this is not a tourist location, only Thai people go there to pray and ask for good luck and is a really fascinating place.

The goal is to finish our own permaculture homestead in Michigan so we can come back in the summers as a family.

That "smelly potato" is Cassava...When I grew up in my grandparents small farm we grew it, I planted the pieces and then just watch it grow. In Spanish is Yuca, in English is Cassava. You can boil it and eat it when it softens or you can cut it in small pieces and fry it. If you boil it and then mash it, shape it as a volcano, put some meat inside (it could be like Panang chicken) then it is called "Cassava Mofongo" which is very delicious.....
Thank you for the beautiful video.

Hey Ryan and family, another excellent video. About mulberry plants, in America they grow them as trees and when they are ripe they have a machine that grabs the trunk and a canvas that incircles the tree. Then the part that has ahold of the tree starts shaking it and all the mulberries fall into the canvas. The canvas folds up and the mulberries are sucked into a container. It's a very good business and doesn't requires a lot of employees.

    Considerations for home garden:
    - determine how much maintenance time you want to put into it and available land if you want to expand.
    - determine the strongest market for vegetables, so that you might expand your garden and sell profitably.
    - you may need to build a dam to hold water if you do not have adequate town or tank water
    - study the insect and pest problems of the area. You may be better having grow tunnels or green houses. There are different sizes.
    - find cheap sources of compost, coconut coir, sand, vermiculite....and quality seed and seedlings....seed trays, plastic sheeting, and best gardening tools.
    - learn about soil biology (compost tea, organic fertilizers).
    - learn about the seasons and how to extend growing season by protecting plants from hotter sun which causes bolting.
    - you may need shade cloth (this can keep insects off too) on your tunnels to keep the plants protected from hot sun.
    - consider having your own chickens for eating. They produce good manure for fertilizer.
    - read up on regenerative agriculture. i.e. permanent 50 or 100 foot beds.
    - if growing for your family only, determine your weekly needs through the year, and make a schedule of how to stagger the planting of seeds.

Can’t wait for Covid to get over with so I can come back to travel. Loved the sunset in the rice patty fields, takes my breathe away and so meditating.

Just found your channel this evening and enjoyed a couple videos which I will share with my Thai wife in the morning. We’ve been married over 51 years now and she also loves her gardening.. Here in Florida right now her mangoes are ripening but she pickles many green ones too. She also has good luck with dragonfruit, lumyai and papaya. Best wishes with your farm, homestead and delightful little family.

My wife and I live in Chicago. She is from Issan. We are traveling back to Thailand this Friday. After quarantine will be heading home in Khon Kaen province back to the farm. Love your videos thank you for taking time to share. If we get your way I will let you know, we enjoy meeting. My wife enjoys growing different things. She grew mushrooms last year when she was there. Raising frogs now and are doing well. Villagers come and buy them all the time. Thank you for keeping me in Thailand when I can’t be there full time yet.
