TinFoil T.V. “[Creeping Death] was based of [sic] the bibble [sic]” Only indirectly so. But my comment is more accurate than your attempted correction because Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments” was loosely based on the Exodus story and it was THAT MOVIE that inspired the song. While the band members were watching the movie, a fog crept across the land killing every firstborn son and Cliff exclaimed “Whoa - it's like creeping death.” You will even find lines from the movie (which are not in the Bible) used in the lyrics. Additionally, if you’ve ever been to the VIP experiences of their shows, you could have seen the lyrics’ evolution where other lines were toyed with but never used. So, I mean yeah. Creeping Death is inspired by the Bible like most every song inspired by a movie was itself inspired by a book. Or, for bible nerds like myself, saying that Luke was inspired by Mark (I do not buy Q, but accept Farrer’s hypothesis on the Synoptic Problem). I could do the same with the various JEDP theories regarding the authorship of the Pentateuch of which Exodus is 1/5. I can go on, but I hope you get my point. As a bible and Metallica nerd, you’re not wrong. But your attempt to correct me falls completely flat. Edit: and if we are going to be sticklers, One was based DIRECTLY on the book which inspired the movie from which they sampled in their music video. In other words, One was inspired by a book which was the basis for a movie whereas Creeping Death was inspired by a movie based on a book.
Another song that could've been on the list is Debaser by the Pixies, which was inspired by the 1929 surrealist short film Un Chien Andalou by Louis Bunuel and Salvador Dali

Tears for Fears have admitted to their early works being heavily inspired by the 1976 television film 'Sybil' which explores the themes of primal therapy and the effects that ill treatment and neglect can have on a young person's mind. Sybil (played by Sally Field) has had such traumatic experiences from childhood and once in the company of her psychiatrist, her only 'safe place' is when she gets to sit in his 'big chair'.
I know you don’t often look at country songs, but one that came to my mind was George Strait’s “Out of the Blue Clear Sky,” which is about about a man giving up on love when suddenly a lover shows up. Fans criticized that the saying was “out of the clear blue sky,” by Strait revealed it was written that way on purpose. The songwriter based it on a line from Forrest Gump when Forrest received a letter from Jenny.
Thnks fr the mmrs (Thanks for the Memories) by Fall Out Boy quotes directly from the movie Closer. "He tastes like you but sweeter" reminds me of that fight scene every time I hear it.
Not complaining of omission, since it was written for it and not used, as opposed to “inspired by”, but a shout out to “A Girl Like You” from The Smithereens, written for Say Anything 🤙🏼
I don't get all of the negative comments on Amy's voice. I think she sounds fine, and like she is in her 20's. I just don't hear what the complaints are about. 🤷♂️
One that most people don’t think about a whole lot but would have made a great addition is “Bad Moon Rising” (the movie in question that inspired the song Is the Devil & Daniel Webster during a Hurricane scene in the movie.) another good one was “Gentle On My Mind” by Glen Campbell. John Hartford wrote the song after seeing Doctor Zhivago and the plot of that movie inspired him to write that song.
I actually have two from a punk band, one from a mainstream alternative band, and one from a pop punk band. The first two are from A Day to Remember and are just lines from movies. I’m made of wax Larry what are you made of is from Night at the Museum said by the late great Robin Williams. The second is Mr. Highway is Thinking About the End from the Good Son. The mainstream one is So Cold by Breaking Benjamin, the lead singer was inspired by 28 Days Later. The last one is one I didn’t realize was a line from a movie. Keep the Change you Filthy Animal by All Time Low, it was taken from Home Alone.
If I may mention: All of Ice Nine Kill's "The Silver Scream" album. Plus a metric CRAP TON of their other other songs are references to movies (by title alone) or based on books that were made into movies. (They're just as big as some of the entries here, I'd say) All of CrazyEightyEight's "Burning Alive" album. (Smaller band, admittedly, but super solid) And I am certain that there are a bunch of other songs on my Spotify and in that same vein of music that I either forgot or just didn't know about. In addition, there are a bunch of other songs or albums based on books or other media too!
WhatCultute should do a similar list for video games that inspired songs. I.E. A Skylit Drive's "Wires...And the Concept of Breathing" (and i believe "Adelphia") albums both have numerous songs referencing Final Fantasy games. Would be an incredible list if there are enough notable entries.

Wow. Reznor's Only. That's a weird one. Inspired by a film which itself was based upon NIN's The Downward Spiral album. The entire album. Got to admit that I thought it would be on the list, but I also foolishly expected it to be higher.

Quite obvious but Wuthering Heights from Kate Bush is, well, completely inspired by the book/movie of the same name... And a bloody creepy song as well!

To just show you how much of an impact the film had on her, she had to think if she saw the film and whether or not they both “kinda liked it”.
