I can't express enough, how enjoyable/interesting it is to be able to see the deliberation and collaboration involved with this project. I think most of the people watching this build are aware that there have been other S85 E46 M3's. Someone simply popping up out of the blue with a complete car and a five minute montage featuring seconds-long clips of the car coming together...that may be all some care about. But there are several of us out here that are as invested in the process as you guys are, at Driftworks. Being brought along on this journey is an incredible amount of service to your viewers. Mad props.
Nice Fab work Craig. Your solutions are always witty Phil. I can never see what it is you are building until I see the finished product. Keeping fingers crossed that this setup does bleed with minimal effort. BMW's are always difficult to bleed the cooling systems to begin with.
Ah lads, the grinding without the bumper covered killed me 😂 car looks mega, can’t wait to see this done. Also Jay looking like Willy Wonka in those throwback pics 😂
Craig goddamn it there’s something about watching someone who is brilliant at what they do and he’s on another level. It’s like he sees things in some schematic genius. Well done

That E39 in the background... You know Craig, we'd like to know about that beauty as well as the VITEN ;) Fubar about that exhaust but hey, can't always have things go your way :D Hopefully, the new guys get it on quick!
Love the radiator setup and the carbon bumper stiffner. Will the ecu provide PWM signal to the fans or will you run hi/low relay/s? And will they run in parallel with one another? Great work once again guys. Cant wait for this S85 to start up.
love the vids! wonder when it's done how long it will take Phil to get carried away with it again and decides to redo stuff like building the engine haha... love this channel!!!
Ive done quite a bit of photogrammetry, because car bits are nice and shiny make sure you cover the surface in powder to make it matte like flour or baby powder. You can mix it with isopropyl alcohol at 60/40 so you can spray on. Then washes off with water. And I've used Agisoft photoscan and RealityCapture, RealityCapture had the best results and it was faster to process. The more pictures the better too, GL :)
Great video, liking the progress on this beast! I wouldnt worry about the bumper, I am sure you'll get some stone chips from all that track action it'll get :-)
Phil" we're pushing it around to Dyno Torque.." Jay " and making it Craig's problem". Can't stop LMFAO. Well done, lads. Well done.( Sorry Craig). Cheers
Great work as always, just a thought though. Would you not be better off linking the rads from bottom to top? So the hot water is forced to go through the rad rather than just along the bottom of it? The connection of the drivers side rad almost looks as if it will make the radiator redundant. 👍🏻
Beautiful work with the radiators. Is there no need for rubber flaps on the shrouds to allow air to flow when the fans aren't running? Interested to know because I was planning to make my own shroud. Thanks
it will if its left on to long, it will sweat and cause micro blistering, but for 20 mins of working in the area it would be fine, I do not doubt that you probably already knew this, just had to stick my oar in lol.
The car was already dusty so we just kept blowing dust off and it’s fine , I’ve had tape stick to paint as well . I have seen some thick cling film type stuff but cat find where to buy it ? I have the thin stuff but it’s not great ,
@@craigtaylor5075 Just trying to be helpful and cut down the cleaning up time, I am a great fan of your work and would never dream of being critical, keep up the great work that you do, if I was could have worked at your place when I was a young mechanic (now a Detailer) I am sure I would have learned a lot more than what I did.

...if you really run out of space for the 10 into 1; fit the radiator to the roofrack. Is radiant heat likely to warrant shielding for the aux belt and its pulley's? Anyway; top stuff. Carry on.
Won`t the side radiator rear AN-16 connector run too close to the wheel on lock by the time you`ve fitted the elbow ? Worth moving it to the end tank instead ? DId I miss why the new company needs to rescan the engine bay ?
It's been tested with the fitting on the rads and has great clearance. The rescan is required to be absolutely sure about the design, as there were a few errors in the scan data and the space is so tight, it could be a really expensive mistake.
damn, Craig's son has the same hair as Jay back in 2010 @8:21 what about that poor boy is bound to be bald in 10 years time if the trend keep on going 😂😂
V10 is coming along nicely 👍👍 In a side note, before Christmas I was watching savage garage and Randy's lambo Gt project is coming along too, and mentioned you guys. You will have definitely see it by now. I can't lie when I heard randy mentioned Drift works, it was weird, in a good way.
It has a few questionable parts to the scan that could potentially result a very costly mistake in fabrication, so we're kind of starting from scratch with it.
I wonder of electric car people see all of this jazz and wonder why it all needs to be so complicated. But i suppose if you want sounds its all worth it.
Not for a while, the car is on hold while I finish some of my other cars. When I bought it back it was under condition that it doesn't get in the way of any of my existing projects, so it's more long term.

Hi I’m Drift from Philworks
🤘
Guys, this rebuild is literally the ONLY reason why i have subscribed to your channel. Please, i wanna see the BMW. 😥
There's nothing to see. The build is on hold as per the rules when I bought it back 👍

Great stuff. Nice to see the V10 again.
I'm waiting for Craig to snap after the next person says bwakets. Who will it be 🤣

Really enjoying watching the progress on this build.

So it turns out from the flashback 2010 footage that Jay is actually Nates dad not Craig

They are all dual pass radiators so this setup is most efficient.
Man cant wait to see this build finished, and on tracks...
👍I'm not saying it wont see a track, but that's not what it's built for. It's just nice a road car.
Love that beem dude can’t wait for the first run 🤘🏻👌🏻
I think drift works or dyno torque could put out a video of a rusty gate and I would enjoy it.
Maybe one day it'll come to that 😄
Those photos from the original build are incredible.. I forgot Jay had hair 🤣🤣🤣
😄
Phil, re your V10 exhaust, I saw this and thought of you! Check out " That V12 Miata Bruh" on you-tube for his 12-into-1 at the front system! :P
Surely a standard bumper would have been a better option than the MattyEV one in terms of airflow given the size of the holes on each side, no?
Yep, but it should still work for my use. We'll have to see.
Do you have any more information on the bumper mount? I’ve never seen one so elegant.
Beautiful work with the radiators. Is there no need for rubber flaps on the shrouds to allow air to flow when the fans aren't running? Interested to know because I was planning to make my own shroud. Thanks
Cheers. It will definitely require some further ducting. We need to do it once the rest of the engine/exhaust work is complete.
Craigs lad needs a video on the drift trike build !!
It’s running !! And works well ,great fun 😁
yaaay more vids! Love the builds :)
Wrap some clingfilm over the bumper to stop it getting marked while working on the front end, but do not leave it on indefinatly.
The last car I covered in film I had to repaint !!! Not always the answer , it got damp and Distroyed the paint !!

There's no progress, so it wouldn't be a very exciting episode. The project is on hold for a while.

Craig is the big wig. He's the owner of DynoTorque next door to Driftworks 👍
And about bloody time too! 😆
Part 41...I think lol. Probably feels more like 141 to poor old Jay. No wonder he's lost his hair 😂
Dopest build on TH-cam. I don't care much for the Lamborghini. I wanna see more of this
Thanks. I do care quite a lot for the Lamborghini so you'll have to be patient haha 👍
@@driftworks Ignore the hate, the lambo is ridiculous and I love it, keep it up :D
I love this car, truly the craziest e46 out there! A question though, if you were to do it again, again, again would you go for an s65?
No, the S65 is a great engine, but V8's aren't unique. A high revving proper V10 engine is the next level.
@@driftworks fair play good sir, thank you for the response and also all of the epic content 👊
Jay had more hair the last go round than Craig's kid has now 😬
Oh how 10 years can fly by
"Yes that is Jay" 😂
I assume the oil filler is that high due to the oem engine cover? Time for a shiny short billet one?
Yeah, it has to be relocated for the manifold design so it'll be kinked out of the way somewhere.
Great vids

Will there be an arch liner to stop grime blocking up the side rads/fans ? Or is it a summer ting only ?
There will likely be something, maybe just mesh as it needs the exit airflow for the rad to work.
Hey!!! I wait for this episod 1 year❤️ e46🖤🖤🖤
Jay!!! With HAIR!!!!
Was that a red 6R4 on the ramp to the left ? Very much looked like one.

It had, 80% of the work including metalwork was done. It didn't work out unfortunately.

It would be interesting to see how accurate the iPhone lidar scanner is
" Can you just". 😂😂😂
Did you test fit headlight AND headlight mounting bracket? Side radiator looks bit too high to clear all that..
Yeah, i mentioned in the video. We had to remove the headlight washer, but they never worked anyway.

What happened to the 3D scan you had done ages ago?
It has a few questionable parts to the scan that could potentially result a very costly mistake in fabrication, so we're kind of starting from scratch with it.
Curious, what was the weight distribution the 1st time you completed the swap ?
I can't remember exactly, but it was pretty decent as the car still had full interior.
What's the story with the E39 M5 in the background?
It's an LS swapped car that Craigs doing some work on.
" Just RUIN it. Starkey". 😆😆😆
Hope you're going to PPF the hell out of the whole car once it is done! lol

Is there a performance benefit to the 10-1 other than just looking balla?
No, I could lose power 😄
@@driftworks haha, well TVR managed to do weird 8-1 collectors at one point. It be reyt.
BBS E88’s would look sooo good on this build.
I love 88's, but there is no better wheel for this car than the ACS Type 2s that are on it IMO.
Seems like space would be better if the side rad outlets were on the front rather than the rear.
Maybe, but the space we have is fine. It all worked out nicely.

So are the 3 rads going to be in parallel or series?
The 3 rads are actually 4. Two for each side of the engine, both double pass and both run in linked as shown in the vid.
why the trigger wheel on the water pump? i'm always looking at it..
It was there to run original crank sensor on the old set up
