New Zealand has locked down hard and tight and although we're a small nation, we have erred on the side of caution, although we could have and should have closed our borders sooner, they are now closed, with small exception. We are finding the lockdown difficult, but count ourselves lucky that we have only one death (as of now) despite that death being awful. Because our country relies on exports and tourism, we may not do so well economically, but our people were pamamount. Very proud of our leaders (with some exceptions) and especially Our people. "It's worth remembering that Hitler was actually an incompetent, lazy egomaniac and his government was an absolute clown show.
In fact, this may even have helped his rise to power, as he was consistently underestimated by the German elite. Before he became chancellor, many of his opponents had dismissed him as a joke for his crude speeches and tacky rallies. Even after elections had made the Nazis the largest party in the Reichstag, people still kept thinking that Hitler was an easy mark, a blustering idiot who could easily be controlled by smart people.
Why did the elites of Germany so consistently underestimate Hitler? Possibly because they weren't actually wrong in their assessment of his competency-they just failed to realise that this wasn't enough to stand in the way of his ambition. As it would turn out, Hitler was really bad at running a government. As his own press chief Otto Dietrich later wrote in his memoir The Hitler I Knew, "In the twelve years of his rule in Germany Hitler produced the biggest confusion in government that has ever existed in a civilized state."
His government was constantly in chaos, with officials having no idea what he wanted them to do, and nobody was entirely clear who was actually in charge of what. He procrastinated wildly when asked to make difficult decisions, and would often end up relying on gut feeling, leaving even close allies in the dark about his plans. His "unreliability had those who worked with him pulling out their hair," as his confidant Ernst Hanfstaengl later wrote in his memoir Zwischen Weißem und Braunem Haus. This meant that rather than carrying out the duties of state, they spent most of their time in-fighting and back-stabbing each other in an attempt to either win his approval or avoid his attention altogether, depending on what mood he was in that day.
There's a bit of an argument among historians about whether this was a deliberate ploy on Hitler's part to get his own way, or whether he was just really, really bad at being in charge of stuff. Dietrich himself came down on the side of it being a cunning tactic to sow division and chaos-and it's undeniable that he was very effective at that. But when you look at Hitler's personal habits, it's hard to shake the feeling that it was just a natural result of putting a workshy narcissist in charge of a country.
Hitler was incredibly lazy. According to his aide Fritz Wiedemann, even when he was in Berlin he wouldn't get out of bed until after 11 a.m., and wouldn't do much before lunch other than read what the newspapers had to say about him, the press cuttings being dutifully delivered to him by Dietrich.
He was obsessed with the media and celebrity, and often seems to have viewed himself through that lens. He once described himself as "the greatest actor in Europe," and wrote to a friend, "I believe my life is the greatest novel in world history." In many of his personal habits he came across as strange or even childish-he would have regular naps during the day, he would bite his fingernails at the dinner table, and he had a remarkably sweet tooth that led him to eat "prodigious amounts of cake" and "put so many lumps of sugar in his cup that there was hardly any room for the tea."
He was deeply insecure about his own lack of knowledge, preferring to either ignore information that contradicted his preconceptions, or to lash out at the expertise of others. He hated being laughed at, but enjoyed it when other people were the butt of the joke (he would perform mocking impressions of people he disliked). But he also craved the approval of those he disdained, and his mood would quickly improve if a newspaper wrote something complimentary about him.
Little of this was especially secret or unknown at the time. It's why so many people failed to take Hitler seriously until it was too late, dismissing him as merely a "half-mad rascal" or a "man with a beery vocal organ." In a sense, they weren't wrong. In another, much more important sense, they were as wrong as it's possible to get.
Hitler's personal failings didn't stop him having an uncanny instinct for political rhetoric that would gain mass appeal, and it turns out you don't actually need to have a particularly competent or functional government to do terrible things.
We tend to assume that when something awful happens there must have been some great controlling intelligence behind it. It's understandable: how could things have gone so wrong, we think, if there wasn't an evil genius pulling the strings? The downside of this is that we tend to assume that if we can't immediately spot an evil genius, then we can all chill out a bit because everything will be fine.
But history suggests that's a mistake, and it's one that we make over and over again. Many of the worst man-made events that ever occurred were not the product of evil geniuses. Instead they were the product of a parade of idiots and lunatics, incoherently flailing their way through events, helped along the way by overconfident people who thought they could control them."

Headline - there is still a lot of goodness in the US! I am a Kiwi, who has spent the last 24 years living and working in China and Hong Kong. My son is currently studying for his bachelors degree in the US, after finishing his last year in high school. I was not at all happy about his wish to study in the US (I am more than a little biased - I wanted him to do his undergraduate course in one of the art academies here). But a few years ago, I took him to Boston for a summer camp on computer game design; and we spent some time traveling around New England, Pennsylvania and NY - what an eye opener. Met some amazing people. The following year, I returned with him to settle him into his high school in Virginia. Again - met some incredibly friendly people. This summer, we picked up his gear in Virginia, and drove across to Colorado to settle him into his university. You guessed it. An awesome experience. It opened my eyes - there is a lot to love about the people and endeavour of the US, as there is to love about the people and endeavour of China. We all deserve strong, sound, selfless leadership.

But that war was to stop a horrible idea to rip people from their Native Country and SELL THEM LIKE LIVE STOCK ! Understand It’s all about money ! The Beast the Bible refers to ie The Mark of The Beast ! This little gem of information may surprise some people and we are all venerable ! Remember you will not take one thing out of this Dimension into the next Dimension 0! We must all Care for one another ! To love one another ! Care and love ourselves! Care for our planet and all that lives there in ! Kill the Planet 🌎 and you kill yourselves ! Think About it ! Blessing to everyone all over the planet ! Stay well, stay safe ! You are loved 👍💕✨😇

But since the GoP controls the senate and they have no standards (and no morals), they held a trial without allowing the prosecution to present any evidence, without any witnesses, and where the jury was admittedly biased in Trump's favor. Oh, and when it was all over, Trump fired the whistle-blower who had reported him for treating aid that Congress had already allocated to Ukraine as if the funds belonged to him personally... and therefore could be released only in exchange for doing him a favor.

Jan. 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.” - Trump in a CNBC interview.
Jan. 30: “We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment - five - and those people are all recuperating successfully. But we’re working very closely with China and other countries, and we think it’s going to have a very good ending for us … that I can assure you.” - Trump in a speech in Michigan.
Feb. 10: “Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do - you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat - as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though. We have 12 cases - 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.” - Trump at the White House. (See our item “Will the New Coronavirus ‘Go Away’ in April?“)
Feb. 14: “There’s a theory that, in April, when it gets warm - historically, that has been able to kill the virus. So we don’t know yet; we’re not sure yet. But that’s around the corner.” - Trump in speaking to National Border Patrol Council members.
Feb. 23: “We have it very much under control in this country.” - Trump in speaking to reporters.
Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!” - Trump in a tweet.
Feb. 26: “So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.” - Trump at a White House briefing.
Feb. 26: “And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” - Trump at a press conference.
Feb. 26: “I think every aspect of our society should be prepared. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.” - Trump at a press conference, when asked if “U.S. schools should be preparing for a coronavirus spreading.”
Feb. 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day - it’s like a miracle - it will disappear.” - Trump at a White House meeting with African American leaders.
Feb. 29: “And I’ve gotten to know these professionals. They’re incredible. And everything is under control. I mean, they’re very, very cool. They’ve done it, and they’ve done it well. Everything is really under control.” - Trump in a speech at the CPAC conference outside Washington, D.C.
March 4: “[W]e have a very small number of people in this country [infected]. We have a big country. The biggest impact we had was when we took the 40-plus people [from a cruise ship]. … We brought them back. We immediately quarantined them. But you add that to the numbers. But if you don’t add that to the numbers, we’re talking about very small numbers in the United States.” - Trump at a White House meeting with airline CEOs.
March 4: “Well, I think the 3.4% is really a false number.” - Trump in an interview on Fox News, referring to the percentage of diagnosed COVID-19 patients worldwide who had died, as reported by the World Health Organization. (See our item “Trump and the Coronavirus Death Rate.”)
March 7: “No, I’m not concerned at all. No, we’ve done a great job with it.” - Trump, when asked by reporters if he was concerned about the arrival of the coronavirus in the Washington, D.C., area.
March 9: “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!” - Trump in a tweet

In Sweden, hospitals stopped giving chloroquine to coronavirus patients following reports of adverse side effects such as vision loss, cramping and headaches “that felt like stepping into a high voltage plant,” Newsweek reported.
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, other side effects range from mild - such as dizziness, nausea and diarrhea - to severe - including sensitivity to light, bleeding, muscle weakness, hair loss and convulsions.
There’s also a rare but sometimes lethal side effect for people susceptible to heart conditions: “drug-induced sudden cardiac death,” NBC News reported.

This is absurd look at some of the many side effects and mortality rates of people who go through chemotherapy. There are many treatments that have "negative" side effects because many major systems of the body are under stress. This is an absurd argument. Let's see possible negative side effects that you might be able to recover from later or maybe death? Hhhmmm use your own brains lol. Maybe pull up just a few of the many ads for prescriptions where the side effects can range from all the things you mentioned toooo "in some cases death". If this is a global pandemic and people are dying why not allow people who want to try it, sign a waver like when people try experimental or controversial procedures and treatments? Why not do what the medical world already does and keep people alive and worry about side effects later? Use your brains people.

    • @TheHuxleyAgnostic
      @TheHuxleyAgnostic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@ZebLewis Use your own brain. There's no evidence chloroquine is very helpful, so all many patients get is the side effects, making their conditions worse. Some fatally so. Sign yourself up for chemotherapy as a vaccine against covid-19, when there's no real evidence it works as a covid-19 vaccine.

    • @TobaxSkosto
      @TobaxSkosto 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@ZebLewis It's funny you say use your brains but didn't use yours. You don't push untested medications, ever, because you have no idea what impact it'll cause down the line, it could cause long term damage that'll cause far more harm in the long term, and your chemotherapy example is stupid because that is done for people who are going to die, where as COVID-19 has a mortality rate of around 3.4%.
The problem with a president doing a press briefing and pushing a drug is that healthy people will take it too, thinking it'll prevent them from getting the virus, not only will it not do that but it also opens all those people up to the same possible issues down the line.
I mean think about it, they are doing human trials for a possible COVID-19 cure right now, and if it goes well they hope to have a vaccine in maybe 12 months, 12 months because it has to be properly tested, not shoved out to people because "what do you have to lose".

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree. The super-wealthy 1% have nothing but the best interests at heart for the rest of us. If you could just get to know them, you would realize that they care far more about accuracy in journalism (even if it affects their bottom line), and paying their fair share in all taxes while avoiding off-shore account havens and creative book-keeping. Of course, I don't technically know, or have ever even talked to, a rich person, but one thing they and I both have in common is that we are Americans, and that means that no matter your income, you get no special treatment in this country. Just because you're a billionaire doesn't mean you can decide over night (even with zero experience), to launch a seat-of-the-pants presidential campaign, bombard the American airwaves with enough pandering, lie-strewn ads to finish in the top three (or become the president, if you're a republican), and get enough free press to hock your latest book and secure a cabinet position with the eventual nominee. It just doesn't happen like that. What about if you're rich, and you commit a crime?! Well, look out, is what I have to say. They say Lady Justice is blind, but I bet her ears work just fine when the district attorney whispers in her ear something along the lines of, "Yeah, sure, not only is Mr. Rockefeller, the accused, a good friend of mine, but he's also godfather to my son, and I don't want my little boy to grow up and mimic him by killing his ex-wife and her waiter boyfriend...let's throw the book at him." I'd rather be the 19-year-old selling pot out of his car than the 63-year-old hedge fund manager who is (rarely) caught for insider-trading, any day.Do you have ANY idea what they do to hedge-fund managers in prison? I didn't think so. Listen, we COULD all have health care, sure. But wouldn't you rather let that 1-percenter who owns your HMO worry about your health FOR you? He must be good at it or he wouldn't have been able to afford that third pool. And speaking of our fine President Trump and the "corporate slugs," as you call them, sure, they got some tax cuts from our great American-in-Chief, but they're the ones who NEED them. Think about it: who is paying all those taxes? If they don't get all the tax cuts, who will? You or me? We'll just spend it on something like the economy. Better to give all the cuts back to the wealthiest so they can do the trickle-down, supply-side economics stuff they do, for which there is loads of data AND statistics showing it works to fix the economy! I mean, THEY are the ones who know about all that fiscal jargon, not to mention all the financial rules that they were nice enough to set up themselves with help from their very good friends in congress, right? All I'm trying to say is: the billionaires have had it too tough for too long. So let's get off their backs for a while. Personally, I think they'll behave just fine when nobody is looking...

Scott Rollison - you‘re the victim of a simple framing strategy: Blame someone else for your own shortcomings and use the momentum to blind people that don‘t fact check. This special strain of coronavirus was detected a long time ago by - amongst others - virologists in Berlin. They published their findings and even issued warnings to the scientific community. The American virologists are a major part of this community. Check out the web pages of the Charite institutions in Berlin for details. If you want to dig deeper, take a closer look on the platform Research Gate. There, almost half of the world‘s researchers and scientists publish their work and findings. The platform was founded by Ijad Madisch, a US trained virologist from Berlin, and funded by a Facebook co-founder Matt Cohler, Bill Gates, and others from the US. Bill Gates, by the way, also has stakes in the German company that will most likely develop a working vaccine for Covid-19.
The news of the imminent threat was out there, as the advisor to the Administration, Dr. Fauci, and many others are part of the community that knew about it. The Trump Administration chose to ignore the warnings, putting thousands of US lives at risk.

It's simple, really: religious indoctrination. Do you think it is a coincidence that the people who are brainwashed by Trump and the media are the same people who were indoctrinated into Christianity? Is it a coincidence that the huge mega-churches and televangelists all support Trump? Is it a coincidence that the religious party is always on the wrong side of history? There is a strong correlation between religion and gullibility. Politicians and religious leaders (as well as other scam artists) have learned to exploit it heavily. Once you brainwash someone with religion, they can easily be brainwashed in other ways.

Isn't that what Trump asked African Americans when he asked for their votes?
I read that the Coronavirus has impacted communities of color, especially the black community, more than any other group.
I also heard Trump has a following in the prison population.
I wonder how they feel about Trump now.

What do you have to lose? Why does this sound so familiar? Oh yeah! That was his pitch for electing him. What did America lose since then...perhaps her soul. No problem there; there's no price tag on a soul...so nothing is lost. (I feel the need to mention that this is sarcasm)

Because there is a PANDEMIC spreading across the world.. and CHINA is it's source... and CHINA didn't alert surrounding countries about it until it was already spreading ... and PEOPLE won't listen to the advice of experts and STAY home so the virus has no way to spread.. and PEOPLE blabber and whine and blame others .. denying the monumental effort that so many of our leaders and medical professionals have launched to try to stop this nightmare ... and TOO MANY governors sat on their hands and let the virus get a good head start in their states.. and THEN blamed others for the pathetic medical facilities they had .. THEIR responsibility... and people like so many in here just found it AMUSING to bash those who are trying to help... doing NOTHING productive themselves... spreading hateful accusations and worthless hearsay... patting each other on the back with meaningless NONSENSE... shame on the LOT of you..
