I've had this sneaking suspicion that somehow he is connected to this product directly or 2 degrees off, and is looking to driving up the demand and price... someone please prove me wrong.

I was prescribed this for an autoimmune disease. After three doses I ended up in the ER, then the ICU. Had to be giving oxygen. Entire body swelled up - black and blue. Took months to heal ( a LOT of pain and peeling). Even if you have a condition that is approved for this drug, BE CAREFUL and monitor yourself carefully. It CAN end you.

I also stumbled across this great entertainer during the crisis. Please forgive me as I am Australian so I hadn't heard of him. I've been taking Hydroxichloroquine for 21 years, to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis. It's not without its side effects. Taking this medication when you don't need it is moronic.

@@murrayflewelling1258 hydroxychloroquine is not available over the counter. It is a prescription medicine in Europe and the US. This is because it has some very nasty side effects. There are plenty of drugs that are licenced or that are not "safe" for everyday use because when you prescribe as a doctor you have to make a risk/benefit analysis. Hydroxychloroquine is great if you have (for example) lupus. But if you have certain heart conditions, kidney or liver damage, or any eye problems you wouldn't get it, even if you had lupus, because chances are the hydroxychloroquine would make those problems worse, possibly killing you. In Europe, the licence says that doctors should do regular blood tests as well for something called "agranulocytosis" which is where you stop producing white blood cells (part of your immune system - the drug affects the immune response which is why it's used for lupus) and then you are at risk of massive infections from bacteria. When you start the drug you need a lot of blood tests but if you are stable you can slowly go down to once per year. Same thing with your kidney and liver function tests. This isn't a safe over the counter medicine. It has a long list of cautions and contraindications and you should only prescribe it if you are happy that it will be less harmful than the disease it is being used to treat. A healthy person taking it is at too high a risk of having the drug make things worse for them, especially as there's no evidence it helps with covid-19 anyway.
