Joey Negro and The Reflex are master remixers. They get into the guts of a song without ruining it and bring out new and fresh elements of the music that give it new life. You can only do that if you have a true love and appreciation of the music. They do.
Listen, on what planet is removing most of the melody and parts that give a tune it's hook, and then putting monotonous repeating riffs at the start, "without ruining it"? Joey Negro manages to do what you say on a fair number of tunes including this one, (but he's butchered a few tunes, ripping out the hook) As far as The Reflex goes I must have been through 20 of his 'remixes' and haven't found one yet that deserves to use the same title as the original. He rips out the musicality and just leaves a pale imitation with a beat.
Neil Firth yes some people rip things to shreds and chop chop it all up..but this maintains the order and integral vibe of the original version...very nicely enhanced...great job...
Neil Firth Hey Neil,1- it starts with a great song- 2- the remix was masterfully done. Good music never dies. It's just brought to new ears. Now- Everybody Dance !!!!
I was there in the 70's and heard almost every version so I thought . Joey adds a nice touch , he really has feel for this without ruining it which happens often . He keeps the integrity of the song which is most important .
I remember being in elementary school going to my school dance in 6th grade, and ended up dancing with the class Queen who never paid me attention to me before this song.
To Dave Lee. You could have invited me to the Tea Dance party you had in Italy. The tracks from that album are disco tunes brought into the millennium. I love old-school disco tracks, and I love listening to your music, regardless of whether it's disco, dance, or house music. Dave. Please keep those banging tunes coming. You're too young to retire, and you'll always put these new wannabe electronic musicians to shame.
The doubling up on Edwards bass line was good ! The instruments blended like they belonged. I wish he could hv played it out on the bass line. All an All a masterful job !
I straight thought this was MAW w/ the man himself Roy Ayers on the vibraphones... it's a masterpiece. Salute Carnal Negro, put it through the roof into the stars.
+Ron Edwards RON I AGREE! Larry would be proud! gotta that HEAVY VIBE--MFSB GROOVE! JUSTICE IS DONE BY JOEY NEGRO !!! [late to the game but I am glad I caught this]....
What an impressive remix.the xylophones made a difference making it better. Great work to those involved I making this so more beautiful.excellent job.hope to hear more remixes of the dance classics
"Everybody Dance" was played a lot in the late '70s in dance clubs. As I recall it followed the success of "Dance, Dance, Dance" . It was a lyrically simple, musically magical track on the dance floor. This is a re-mix. I wish they played these great re-mixes of old classic disco tunes, but they don't at the club I went to up until about 2017 when I gave up on the music being played. Their DJs got stuck in a bland rut of non-descript music that inspired neither my spirit nor feet.
I love this! I would go back out to the dance clubs if the DJs played some great retro stuff like this or Change's new tracks from their album "Love 4 Love" or even Chaka Khan's newish single "Like Sugar", but the DJs seem to be stuck in a rut of playing the dance music version of elevator music. Yes, it has a beat, but no personality, no identity, no discernible passion, and very little in the way of hooks or melody. Sorry, but dancing to all instrumental tracks is like having sex with with an inflatable blow-up doll; the human element is missing. I was watching people dance to this purely utilitarian form of dance music one night and I thought, "It looks like a crowd of dancers on a cruise ship or at a Herba-Life convention.. No noise, no electricity, no palpable enthusiasm, no whistles or tambourines, no wild people or fun/crazy drunks, no antics or goofy show-offs, just.... szzzzz.... even the disco ball looked less glittery and enervated... oh well, it was a blast for years. Everything goes in cycles so maybe there will be a genuine resurgence if the music catches fire again and people feel they can afford to go out to the clubs. I'm glad I wore out my dancing shoes all those years.
I love the old classics

@@toneloke4405 Absolutely true! I Prefer Joey Negro & Dr. Packer, for me they are the best.
This man has brought old disco to a new era. But importantly not ruined it.
