My response: I grew up in the Bronx and Chic is from the Bronx, I toured with Sister Sledge, Chic wrote for Sister Sledge. We had a lot in common. The key ingredient for the perfect disco song was simply orchestration. Artists like Chic, Barry White, and Cerrone knew this, as well as my favorite Alec R. Constandinos- his disco symphonies are priceless. No, there will never be a time again when the passion and thirst for disco consumes you. But, if you put a great disco LP on your turn table, plug in those christmas lights and begin spinning around to the music, something magical will happen and you will be teleported back in time to your bedroom when you were a teenager...... just keep your eyes closed until it's time to flip the record over.

    Without claiming that I was "born in the wrong generation" simply because of music taste, I will say that I'm very partial to 70s funk and disco- even as a millennial.
    Future Funk and French House partially help to revive music like this and give it a new life to a generation like mine.
    This song helped power me through a tough few months during the early stages of the pandemic. But even setting aside my personal attachment, there's a real craft to how this music gets me on my feet to dance around in a way that club and house music today simply never has done.

    The thing is back when we first heard this sort of music it was totaly new our parents had listened to 60s stuff, to me it was a bit boring.
    Suddenly its1975 and you are in high school and around 13/14 and you hear Disco!
    It was a moment I'll never forget your ears suddenly heard things they had never heard before, your toes were tapping and you wanted to dance like the the dancers on Soultrain, it's sound and energy brought black and white kids together, here in Britain.
    I remember getting my first job on a building site and listening to this new music, on a Friday night going out to the local Disco, standing by the speakers feeling the bass beating inside you and then plucking up the courage to get on the dance floor and learn to dance.
    Brilliant days, music was for good, love and happiness.
    Today's kids I don't understand, they have more than we ever had but they are so angry even their music is angry and not nice, all to dark.
    Shame really as when they experience Disco/funk/soul they have exactly the same reaction, like a light bulb moment and I love it.
    Life don't get easier as you get older but one thing I'll take we me when my times up is I was there when the sweetest sounds hit this planet and I'm so glad and lucky I did, love and peace.

      ***** I don't live in LA- I live in Houston, Texas. I used to be a bass player, BUT due to a car accident, I am only able to play for a few minutes. If you have the energy and talent, just start doing it and it will attract others like yourself to want to join you- If you have ever been part of the music scene and you have a certain talent that YOU excel in, make sure to get that info out there so you can attract the right people for doing this- If you ever get something going, I would be honored to hear some of it. Have a wonderful day and keep the GREAT music,sister!!!! May GOD bless you and your talents!!!

      You're right. You and your relatives have a great taste in music. It's unbelievable how the people at that time could make such a great music. Everything was great, the voice, arrangements, instruments. It was made with heart. A truly art. I don't know how we lose this. Here, in my country was the same. They made great music between 70's and 80's. Now they make a very poor music.

    • @danavixen6274
      @danavixen6274 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Joaquim are you from Spain? I'm from where Motown started. I think it really does boil down to music execs who are willing to promote real artists, singers and musicians. I believe they are out there. Execs just don't seem to promote them half as much as they used to though. So genuine talents in music seem to be few and far in between in my opinion nowadays. Thank goodness for youtube. At least I have discovered great artists from the past and present through it.

    • @146martins
      @146martins 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dana. I'm from Brazil. Did you notice my accent? (just kidding). I think you've got a point, but sometimes I think that nowadays the people think about music as a way to make a lot of money. They don’t really love the art. They don’t do their best. Have you notice that they are smiling and very happy on the ancient videos? I’m not a musician. I’m just a IT executive but I can realize that now people think too much about money and it’s not good for art, sports and other areas where talent really means.

      You're probably right about that but I think Paul gets overlooked because he's known primarily for being a prolific songwriter. To the naked ear you know when something sounds amazing. His basslines are like his voice, so incredibly melodic both with the Fab Four & his solo stuff with Wings
